(Want me to post something for Jasper)
(Yeah sure, Kas will be coming in with a dislocated knee so that's probably relevant if they're being introduced together aha)
(He'll be using a makeshift crutch/cane since medical attention is kinda not an option atm)
(Lol okay, how should they find each other?)
(Uhh I figured we'd introduce them already together since it usually takes a while for Kas to trust people, but you could always find them injured if you wanted them to meet in rp)
(Oh that's good with me since they both have trust issues)
(Sounds good lol)
Jasper was keeping a look out for zombies as she walked with Kas along the streets of the city. She was very worried that something would happen and Kas wouldn't be able to run because of his knee, then she would have to fight off whoever was trying to hurt them zombie or not. She didn't trust many of the surviving humans for…reasons.
She looked around cautiously, listening incase she heard anything. The crushing of leaves under a foot, a twig snapping. Anything that could mean someone was coming closer to them.
She wasn't taking chances.
She wasn't loosing her only friend.
She tugged her beanie down over her head, though in doing so that meant her her bags were pulled over her eyes. She quickly pulled her bangs away from her eyes and tucked them aggressively behind her ears.
"I think this way is safe." She spoke, calling over to where Kas was.
Kas, as always, was very insistent that he was fine and didn't need any extra help. It had taken some convincing for them to even put up with a walking aid at all. He'd been using a short branch as a makeshift crutch or cane to avoid putting much weight on their injured leg. He'd hurt it while jumping out of a tree after hiding from some zombies there.
"Right… let's go, then." They winced as they put their bow on their back. He sighed in frustration, shook his head, and started to follow Jasper. "Do we have a plan or are we just going anywhere but here?" He asked. They looked around as they walked, keeping an eye out for zombies.
She thought about his question before responding, because she didn't really have an answer for it but she didn't want to just say I don't know, or i haven't decided yet.
She let out a soft sigh, "well I guess anywhere from here's accurate, I don't really…know. where anything is….so..im.not exactly going in a certain direction."
She rubbed her arm as she walked ahead of Kas but still sticking close to him.
She felt herself wince when he did, wishing she could get him something to actually help his knee.
Though she had no clue what would help it.
She just didn't like seeing him in pain.
"Right, well… I'll just follow you for now." Kas adjusted his grip on his branch and made their way forward, probably more quickly than they should have. His leg wasn't doing particularly well; he hadn't been able to set it again, so it was still dislocated. They knew they needed to do something about it soon or he might have permanent damage, but he had no idea what to do.
"You know… as much as I don't like people, I kinda hope we run into some other survivors. They might… be able to help…" He exhaled shakily, their breathing heavy.
She grew nervous as she heard his heavy breathing and how he exhaled shakily. She knew it was because he was having toruble breathing from walking fast, but it still stressed her out.
She huffed at him, "Kas you need to slow down, You shouldn't be walking as fast as you are.' She spoke In a nervous tone of voice, just worried he would injure himself worse then then he already had.
She looked around the area before looking back at him.
"People…? But- how could we trust them? How do we know they won't hurt us?"
"I'm perfectly capable of walking, thank you very much." Kas huffed right back. They would have crossed their arms if he didn't need the branch to stay upright. "I've got my branch, anyway. And people because you know as well as I do that we can't keep going like this forever. We'll die. I'll die first and you'll be all alone." He looked down at the ground and sighed. "I… don't know how to fix my leg. Somebody else might."
She just frowned at Kas as he huffed at her, she held her sides as she looked around the area nervous. She let out a sigh, even if she didn't want to trust other people he had a point.
"Well…we need some way to defend ourselves incase they try to turn on us." She spoke, agreeing they needed someone to fix his leg.
"I have my bow, and you've probably got something, I dunno." Kas kept going as well as he could, keeping their eyes on the ground so they wouldn't trip. "It's not like we really have anything to lose. We're gonna die if we keep going like this, and if anyone we run across kills us, we aren't really any worse off."
She did indeed have something…she had a knife, when she escaped from her captors she took a knife and fended her way off to escape. She let out a sigh, "can we please not say that we're going to die anyway? We- we can figure some out. Okay?"
Kas rolled his eyes, but kept their mouth shut. He had more or less given up hope at this point, especially with his injury, but Jasper still seemed to have something to hold onto for whatever reason. "Yeah, whatever… what's the plan, then?" They asked dryly.
“Just, last long enough to find someone to help us. Then we can go find somewhere safe to set up and live for a bit.” She spoke, making up something of a plan on the spot as she rubbed her wrists nervously.
"Yeah, I guess so… we don't really have anywhere to go right now. We can't keep sleeping in trees or out in the open forever." Kas stumbled and their breathing hitched, but he caught himself before he was able to fall. "We'll figure it out…"
"I know.." She muttered, putting a hand on her neck and ending up scratching at the skin stitches laced around her throat, feeling very antsy and as if she could jump out of her skin. Though this wasn't an unfamiliar feeling to her, so she didn't panic.
"Careful please." She spoke as she saw him catch himself.
"I'm being careful." Kas huffed, adjusting his grip on the branch before mixing forward. They didn't have quite the endurance that they used to. His injury made it difficult to move around without getting tired. They winced again as they continued forward, trying to walk as normally as possible despite being unable to use one of his legs.
Jasper felt herself wince slightly at the lack of food in her stomach, she was used to not eating well but that didn't make the hunger hurt any less. She mostly hid it from Kas though as she didn't want him to worry about her, plus she was sure they would eventually get food and then everything would be fine.
She continued to walk next to him as she moved around, noticing how he was growing tired.
Kas narrowed his eyes at Jasper when she winced and shook their head a bit as she moved to be closer. She was still worried about him when she needed to focus on herself. They were fine, clearly. They just couldn't walk very well. He was breathing heavier than was normal, but he still stubbornly pushed forward. "We'll find somebody soon…"
She noticed as they were walking, an apartment building that looked relatively solid compared to all the other ones that were crumbled down and missing doors.
She moved to walk towards it, hoping for some food, or even someone in there.
"Maybe there's something good in here..?' She called out softly to Kaz, moving to open the door to the building. The least they could do was get out of the open.
"Yeah, maybe… shelter, if nothing else." Kas struggled up the steps, refusing assistance, and headed inside while Jasper held the door. They winced at any pressure on their leg, and he hated the sound that his makeshift cane made on an actual floor versus the grass. "Hello? Anyone here?" They called out. He knew most people didn't take well to being surprised, especially not in an apocalypse.
