"Hello, Damian. Do you know where your parents are??"
"Hello, Damian. Do you know where your parents are??"
“No… my big brother took us to the party.”
"Where's your big brother?"
"I… I don't know." He was starting to look worried.
"Ok, that's okay." She rubbed his back reassuringly when she saw his rising panic. "We'll find, and in the meantime you and your sister are safe. OK?"
“…okay,” he said slowly, curling up against Tamara.
Tamara secured Damian and gently put her arms around him.
He fell back asleep, seemingly calm for the time being.
Elentiya drove for another few minutes then stopped. “I live here. My parents are both witches, and so is my little sister, so they’ll understand. I can take you back to your own homes, but I live out of town so I figured it might be safer here.”
Tamara nodded. "Thanks," she said reluctantly.
“No problem,” she said, hopping out and taking out her keys. She opened the door and peered in. Most people were asleep, but a man was reading a book at the dining table. “Hey, Dad,” Elentiya said.
Tamara put Damian on her back and scooped up the sleeping Violet. She went in cautiously.
“Hey, Ellie. Who’s this?” He asked, peering around her.
Tamara raised a hand and gave a small wave. "Tamara."
“Hello, Tamara. Ellie, why are there new people in my house at midnight?”
“The party got crashed by police. Me, Tamara, the little kids, and some others ran.”
"Can I just set them down on the couch?" Tamara asked quietly.
“Yeah, I’lol ask my mom if she still has any baby supplies tomorrow. What are you doing up Dad?”
“/insert lame excuse/“
Tamara smiled to herself at his excuse and went over to the couch. She knelt down slowly and set Violet in the midst of the cushions. She gently pushed her hair out of her face and put a blanket on her. She then moved to the other end of the couch and, detaching Damian from her back, set him down feet against Violet's. She covered him up with a blanket as well and walked back over to Elentiya.
“You and Lata can stay in my room, and we have a spare bedroom Orion can stay in,” she said. “Here are some sleeping bags - we’re short on sheets, sorry.”
Tamara shrugged. "No worries." She took the sleeping bags. "Your room is…?"
“Upstairs, last one on the left. I’m gonna stayndown here for a moment,” she said.
Tamara nodded. She headed up the stairs and into Elentiya's room. She smiled softly. It was practically her ideal room. She set the sleeping bags down and went over to the bookshelf, taking the first one she saw. She sat down and began to read.
