Halo sighs as John says that. It wasn't a sigh of annoyance, but a sigh of happiness. They would be leaving soon. It would just be him and John. That's all he ever really wanted. "Yeah, most likely." He whines when John pulls away and sits up. Halo smiles a little and lift John's hand to his lips. "I'm wonderful."
John smiled, moving a finger to lazily trace Halo’s soft lips, “Are you sure I’ll be light enough?” John glanced at his wing, which he let hang limply from him. There was a dull ache in it, but Halo’s herbal medicine had certainly been working this whole time.
Halo purrs, kissing John's finger softly. He loved how gentle John was with him. He nods and smiles. "Babe. It's going to be okay. I know I can carry you." he replies, kissing John's hand lightly. He tilts his head and looks at the bandaged wing. "Is your wing doing any better, love?"
John smiled even more at the little kisses on his hand. He glanced at his bandaged wing again, “It still aches a little bit,” He said quietly, chewing his lip and moving his hand to finger the bandages a little, “Can I look at it, or should I just leave it bandaged?” John did want to see his wing and examine the wound before they left.
"I'll have to take care of it before we leave. You can look at it then, okay, Love?" he asks softly, nuzzling the other gently as he smiles up at John.
John slowly unwrapped the bandages, letting them fall. The wound was an ugly red, a complete hole through his wing. John chewed his lip, glancing back at Halo for a brief second as he asked, “Do you think it’s healing okay?” It was harder to know… Ever since John enrolled in the military, he had seen knife wounds of every kind. But not one in a wing, not like this.
Halo helps him remove the bandages and hums in thought as he looks at the wound. His eyes turn softly as he places a gentle hand on his wing, just above the wound to push the feathers out of the way. "Yes. It's healing rather well… I'll need to put more herbs on it so it can continue healing, but it should be okay. I'll re-wrap it, then we'll leave."
“Thank you, Halo,” John whispered softly, intertwining his fingers with his lover’s hands. “You really saved me, you know,” He gazed into Halo’s eyes, their unique crimson color beautiful in the light.
"Of course, my love." Halo squeezes John's hand lightly before smiling warmly at him. "There's no need to thank me for that, John. I love you. I'd do anything for you." He whispers, kissing the back of John's hand lightly. "I can say this for certain." He smiles before slipping out of bed and gathering a few herbs, meshing them together, then carrying them towards the other and smiling softly. "Alright, here we are."
“Will they hurt when you put them on?” John asked quietly, gripping the sides of the bed already. His eyes flicked down to the bruises on Halo’s neck before he looked away entirely. Never again will I hurt him like that. John started chewing on his lower lip in anxiousness.
"No, it'll actually make it feel better." Halo replies softly, smiling warmly at the other. Slowly he places the herbs onto the wound, taking a deep breath as he spreads the purplish goop. He then grabs a bandage and takes a deep breath, slowly wrapping the wing with slender fingers.
John let out a sigh of relief, closing his eyes peacefully as Halo spread the medicine with the utmost gentleness. He smiled a little. Halo cared for him so much… John leaned against Halo’s warm chest as he worked on the wing. “You’re good at this…”
Halo smiled at how content his lover seemed to be. "I studied medicine and healing. Just because I'm a demon now doesn't mean I forgot everything." He replies softly, kissing John's forehead as he finished.
“Hmmmmm…” John hummed and he wrapped his arms around Halo’s waist, pulling him closer a little. His good wing moved without command, curling around Halo instinctively. “I don’t wanna get up…” John mumbled onto Halo’s chest, keeping his eyes closed. Never once in his life had he imagined himself whining about getting up when he was a captain of the military.
Halo smiles softly as John pulled on his waist gently. He wraps his arms around John's shoulders loosely, kissing the top of his head. He chuckles softly as John's good wing wraps around them. Halo laughs at that, before running a hand mindlessly through John's hair. "We need to leave soon, baby." He mutters softly, his dark wings wrapping around John's and shielding them from the rest of the world.
John didn’t want the moment to end, but forced himself to stretch. He yawned a little, but opened his eyes finally and stared at Halo lazily, “I suppose we do. I’m sure Brennan will come back in here to nag eventually.” Carter snaked his arms up to Halo’s strong shoulders, pulling himself up to stand.
Halo chuckles, kissing his forehead. He loved John so much. It was a shame they'd have to end this moment. He smiles at the other, nuzzling into his shoulder once John was standing. "Do you want to go and say goodbye, or just leave?" He asks softly, kissing John's shoulder.
“I said goodbye to Brennan while you were asleep, and I think most people would try to stop us if they found out we were leaving,” John told him softly, “It’d probably be best if we just left,” His toes curled when Halo kissed his shoulder, that little warm feeling inside his chest brightening.
Halo nods and smiles a little at John. "Alright." He mutters. He was beyond happy that they could finally leave the camp. There were to many painful memories. He kisses John lovingly before gently pulling away. "Let's get going then. I'll need to pack a few things, and then we can go, okay baby?" He asks gently.
I love it when he kisses me like that… “Alright,” John gave him a happy smile. He gave his own body a quick sweep over with his eyes, making sure the cuts weren’t festered or reopening. Halo had taken good care of him… “Do you need any help packing anything?”
Halo chuckles softly, running his thumb along his lovers cheek, before shaking his head. "Nope. I don't really need help packing. Just some clothes, food, and herbs." He shrugs and smiles at the other. He loved John dearly. "Just rest before we take off, alright?" He says gently, kissing his cheek before starting to grab some of the things that they would need.
John smiled at the kiss, adoring everything about Halo. Just as John was about too flop back onto the bed happily, he stopped himself and instead said, “I’ll be right back, I need to get something,” He told Halo, then started heading for a tent flap, “I’ll only be gone a minute.”
Halo looks at John and hesitated. The last time he had left John alone… Guilt washed over him as he looked at John's wrapped wing. "If you'd like, I can come with you?" He offers, messing with his fingers as he gazes at the other with a look of concern.
John tilted his head, sighed, but gave Halo a reassuring smile, “I’ll be fine this time. I won’t be long, I just have to grab something from my tent. You should pack.” Besides, John didn’t want Halo to know what he was getting just yet, he wanted it to be a good surprise. He gave Halo another reassuring smile, repeating, “I’ll be fine.”
Halo nods and takes a deep breath. "Don't be to long, okay love?" He asks gently. He returns to packing, but his hands shook dangerously as he does so. He didn't want an incident like the last time they had parted.
