Arthur curled up under a tree, debating about running away.

Shadow was pretty good at hunting, already having quite a bit of freshly-caught prey.

Arthur lay back, having decided to try it.

Shadow came back.

Arthur tensed, sitting up when he heard pawsteps.

"Hey!" Shadow said.

Arthur flinched at the sudden noise, but tried to smile when the other came back

"I got food," Shadow said.

Arthur's eyes brightened a little at that.

Shadow smiled.

Arthur looked away shyly, shifting and padding up to the other.

Shadow gave him food.

Arthur took one look at him before eating hungrily, not wanting to admit that the catch he'd lost to the other had been the first good one in weeks.

Shadow smiled. He also ate.

Arthur had to force himself not to literally inhale his share.

Shadow later finished.

Arthur had finished just before him, and moved up against him for warmth.

Shadow smiled.

Arthur ignored it, snuggling against him.

Shadow looked at him. "Have I helped at all?"

"Y-yeah…" said Arthur shyly.

"Good," Shadow said.

Arthur sighed, realizing how small he was against the other.

"What?" Shadow asked.

"How can you love someone who can't even hunt for themselves?"
