Arthur watched him carefully, still afraid of him.

"I finally lost them!" Shadow said.

Arthur relaxed his grip a little, still tense and on edge.

"It's okay," Shadow said.

Arthur whimperdd, wondering what Shadow might do to him, plus his head still hurt.

"If you think I'm going to hurt you, I'm not," Shadow said.

Arthur was still a bit tense, and his head hurt from dehydration.

"Everything okay?" Shadow asked.

"My head hurts…" said Arthur softly.

"Why is that?" Shadow asked, slightly concerned.

"How am I supposed to know?" He whimpered, curling up in the other's arms.

"It's okay," Shadow said. "I just thought you might know a reason."

Arthur whimpered again, still scared.

"It'll be okay," Shadow said.

Arthur shook his head, his thin frame quivering slightly.

"I mean it," Shadow said. "I'm here to protect you."

"B-but how c-can I t-trust you?"

"I would've let my pack kill you if you couldn't," Shadow said. "I care about you, you know."

Arthur looked up at him again, his eyes almost brimming with tears.

"What's wrong?" Shadow asked.

Arthur shook his head and didn't answer, instead burying his face in the other's chest, having no real choice because Shadow hadn't put him down yet.

"Please tell me," Shadow said.

"I d-don't know…." he said his voice quavering.

"You don't?" Shadow asked.

Arthur shook his head, still having a breakdown.
