(Yeah, and Jess is heading back)
(Lol yeah Gus is just like: smiles sweetly and holds knife Please leave <3 )
"Well it sure sounds like you can take care of yerself," Gus told Jesse dryly, packing away his medical supplies. He didn't really take kindly to her version of events, but decided not to raise a fuss since she was leaving anyway. "Good luck findin' that travel buddy you mentioned. I'm sure they're missin' you right now."
(a bit short ig but I can't think of much else for him to do haha)
(the way Gus talks he kinds reminds me of Hagrid from HP :} )
(LOL southern country boy Hagrid xDDD)
(Oh? Jess smiled at Evan pfft)
(omg i see it though XD)
(also she tried lol. She's bad at showing any form of emotion that she associates with weakness so it was more of like the corner of her lips went up like the tiniest bit lol bc my girl bc awkward)
Jesse shrugs "she was shot. I can assure you she is not missing me" she says before looking back to the rest of the group, avoiding looking at Jasper out of spite.
Her eyes set on her flannel that was tied around Jezariah's leg from earlier and opens her mouth to say something.
Though Jez speaks up before she can "yeah you shot her you maniac. Thats why she's not missing you" he says angrily, though his voice still quieter.
Jesse shrugs, not phased much by his comment.
(lol im just waiting for everyone to put two and two together and realize that her friend is Elodie lol)
Soon Cass had made up a vegetarian stew of some sorts and all he had to do was wait for it to be a little warmer so they could eat it.
It's not like the two were purposefully not eating meat because in this world you really can't afford to be picky. But for them meat was such a delicacy nowadays. It was much more dangerous to have a farm with livestock since that would attract the screamers even more. The noise and the smell.
So for now they stuck with the canned stuff that occasionally had some sort of meat in it and the little bit of crops they grew in their small backyard. And it worked out because Ophelia always hated seeing the animals they would have to eat and on occasion she would refuse to eat it. Which Cassius understood completely. It was hard for him to get past as well. He was never a hunter. Not of animals anyway.
He turns around to the soft sound of the girls stepping into the kitchen. "Hey do you like soup?" he asks awkwardly (i read that in my mind like the "ya like jazz?" thing and i hate myself for it lol)
Ophelia whips around and hurriedly plucks the strawberry off of the counter, reaching on her tippy toes and jumping up to get it before she runs to the girls, holding up the strawberry. "i grew this! You guys can have it though!" she says, beaming up at the girls with a wide smile and big brown eyes.
Lyn blinked, her eyes growing wide. “Sure! We haven’t had soup in ages.”
Josefine’s stomach rumbled. “Ah, I’ll let that speak for itself,” she chuckled.
They glanced down at Ophelia. Lyn smiled, and Sef awkwardly rubbed her neck.
“You grew this yourself? That’s so cool!” The former said. “Maybe you could help up find a knife so we can cut it in half?” She asked, glancing at Sef, who nodded.
Cassius turns back around to the soup, moving the pot aside and grabbing a small box of matches. Striking it to create the small flame he holds the lighted match to the burner and turns the burner control knob to the low-flame position. A small flame comes from the gas stove before he removes the still lit match. He pulls it away from the stove but not burning it out, planning to use it for lighting a few of the candles around the kitchen.
He turns the burner on to the desired flame and sets the pot of soup on top, grabbing a spoon and stirring it before setting it down. Cass goes along the counter, lighting a few candles there and then some in the dining room as the girls mingle.
Ophelia lights up "oh i know where one is! Daddy kills zombies with it so we need to wash it first" she says with a shrug, looking around to find it.
Cass whips around, blowing out the match as he did so at Ophelia's words. His eyes wide "oh goodness no" he says shaking his head, "don't get that knife honey. Here we can use this one" he finishes, opening a drawer and getting out a rather thin kitchen knife. It wasn't much but that was what they used to cut the crops along with only two other small knifes.
"here let one of them do it so you don't hurt yourself" he offers Fia, looking to the girls.
"finee" Ophelia sighs
Evan nodded to gus,
"it's no problem, I'm glad to help.'" He finally felt like he was able to speak after the three of them had their talk. He sighed shaking his head, "I'm not going with her…I never was with her. She just showed up while I was traveling with jez."
He looked up and noticed Jess, the tips of her lips tilted upwards in some sort of half smile.
"Uh..it was good traveling with you, you better get back to your friend. Wouldn't want something to happen to them."
He still wanted to be at least somewhat polite or nice despite how it was not a pleasant journey.
Pleasant was just being nice.
Jasper looked at Gus, she wasn't expecting what happened to have happened. She looked between the two of them and then just frowned at the ground.
it's my fault that gus is mad..it's my fault that Jez ran away and had to have this whole thing happen. It's my fault, why didn't I just leave when I had the chance?
She held herself as she sat down on the ground.
gus and June wanted you here, they stopped you from leaving. They told you it wasn't your fault remember..?
She just sat there as thoughts bounced around her head.
gus was wrong, he would still be happy if I had just left when I had the chance. Then Jez would still be here.
She mumbled, "stop..s-stop it.." She sniffles, burying her head in her knees. She quickly got up and went to find somewhere else to go to, eventually finding a supply closet and sitting in there.
She felt the tears slip as her thoughts were becoming a disaster.
June came into where everyone was, having missed most of what happened by keeping Darius busy, he would have gotten overwhelmed and asked to many questions, likely to annoy someone. She walked over to Gus, holding Darius by his wrist so he wouldn't wander off.
(LOL southern country boy Hagrid xDDD)
(I'd be down for that)
(sorry for the wait, Mondays are usually pretty busy for me)
Gus saw Jasper get up and leave, and watched her go in concern. She still looked upset about all this, and he worried she would do something rash if left alone very long. But now most of his friends were in the main room, and people were talking at him, and he wanted to stay and make sure everyone was safe and happy even though he knew they could probably take care of themselves. He wasn't sure when he'd started feeling like he was responsible for this group, but now it was coming back to bite him as they pulled his focus in a dozen different directions. He saw June and Darius approaching and gave them a distracted nod, wondering if he could trust Evan with Jez while he went to quickly check on Jasper.
Then, both Jesse and Jez mentioned that Jesse's friend had been shot, and Gus snapped back to attention. Wait a second….that girl, Elodie, who'd stumbled in last night. She'd been shot. She'd mentioned a friend with a gun who'd shot Jez. Jez had been shot by Jesse, the woman now standing right in front of him.
Gus went rigid. If he was right, and the girl Jesse was looking for sat right behind the staff room door, that could be bad. Perhaps Elodie didn't want Jesse to find her, and Gus wouldn't blame her at all. Either way, Gus definitely wasn't going to snitch.
"Welp," he said abruptly, standing up and dusting off his knees. "If you hit th' road now, Jesse, you might make it to safety 'fore the sun's up. It's been nice meetin' you, but our gang had better get some shut-eye. Here, lemme get the door for ya." He jimmied open the front door and held it open, so that literally nothing could prevent Jesse from leaving as soon as possible. "Alright, later gator."
(also I don't think Tap replied to Travis's last response? If so I may have missed it lol)
June went over to Evan, and handed him a nametag and pen, "Here, write your name and wear this" she smiled. "even if you are not staying for long, it'll keep Darius from asking your name a hundred times" she shrugged, motioning to Darius who stood in the middle of the room looking lost.
(also I don't think Tap replied to Travis's last response? If so I may have missed it lol)
(Lol I think you right)
(lol theyre gonna shoo Jesse out and then realize Elodie is gone and flip out :,)
(also srry i cant reply rn im a bit busy)
(Lol yeah- also your good ^^)
June went over to Evan, and handed him a nametag and pen, "Here, write your name and wear this" she smiled. "even if you are not staying for long, it'll keep Darius from asking your name a hundred times" she shrugged, motioning to Darius who stood in the middle of the room looking lost.
He looked Over to June, taking the name tag and pen.
"Oh- alright. I don't plan on leaving any time soon though.'
He wrote down his name, then put the name tag on his chest. He flashed a thumbs up at them. He looked back at Jez, just kinda worried about him. He looked up at gus and noticed how he had tensed up but decided not to ask.
June smiled, "well nice to meet you, Evan, I am June. Glad you are choosing to stay, though if you cross me I can use about anything as a weapon so.. I'd watch your back" she siad with a polite grin before going back to Darius.
She caught the water bottle, but not as well as she would like. Then again she's just not good at catching things in general. She drank some of the water, before tossing it back to him. It helped to push away the light headed feeling she had from her arm.
"Yeah, I totally get it. I hope there's at least one in this town, I could use some supplies.'

They shared a look of surprise, then giggled as Cassius interrupted them and produced the alternative knife. Lyn took it, and Ophelia’s strawberry, and set it on the counter. After cutting it neatly in half, she gave a slice to Josephine, who immediately bit into it. Lyn just gave it a tentative nibble, mostly because she felt weird and anxious about eating here for some reason.
Sef made a little OK sign with her fingers. “This is a good strawberry, kid.”
(Djisdji I feel like I should write more but I’m so tired-)
(now I feel bad for making Elodie sneak out—)
