(sorry I'm slow y'all)
"You'll be fine, Tap," Travis said easily. "Now we should probably find a good place to hunker down for a while, yeah? This roof is okay, but it's kinda chilly." He glanced around at the nearby streets. "Hey, maybe we can even find a hotel and live in style. And these days, they don't even make you pay!" Travis laughed and started off in search of a way down. "I'm gonna be honest, this is the life right here."
Gus listened carefully to Evan, then quickly turned all his attention to Jez's head injury. Those could be bad. He'd seen his cousin with a cracked skull after a biking accident, and this wound didn't look quite that severe, but still. He began to clean off the blood and prepare his makeshift surgical equipment, hoping he wouldn't have to use it.
"You know much about medicine?" he asked Evan. "I could use a hand here, if y'got any idea what you're doin'."
(Aristotle's reply confuses me so i guess Jesse's just chilling outside??? Imma have jez wake up lol)
Jez wakes up to a stinging pain on his head. He groans, turning his head a little and forcing his eyes open to see Gus, Evan, and Jasper in the room.
"ow" he says in a pained whisper, his hand going up to his wound on his head.
(sorrry its short im a bit busy rn)
Evan sighed, '"I wish I knew about medicine, unfortunately I'm a bit limited on my knowledge but I can try and help based on books I've read on it."
Jasper was still nervous, but as soon as Jez woke up she relaxed just a little bit. "Jez your awake!"
She chuckled softly, "I think your right handsome." She nodded along with what he said. "Yeah, the rooftop is a tad bit chilly.' She looked at her bandages to make sure they weren't bleeding through and then looked back in his direction. "Oh really? We really could be living it up at a fancy hotel huh. You know any we could go to?' She chuckled at his statement.
(lol i love how Cass like lowkey disassociates at the mention of his dead wife and they lowkey disassociate at the mention of sleepovers XDD)
Cass snaps out of his thoughts, taking in a deep breath. His chest felt heavy now that his mind was on her. Though now he tries desperately for his mind to be off of her so he can actually function.
"yeah lets go. Its this way" he says motioning north.
(if you dont mind, im gonna skip to when they get there. if you do have a problem, tell me and ill gladly change it :)
After a while of walking down a dirt road, they arrive at this open field with a two story stone house with vines and foliage. The stones a beige off white color, dark wooden roof and the beams showing on the outside of the house.
Wooden cracked window frames, the panes have a dusty look to it as well. As if it hadnt been touched in years. Though its basically stained so even though the two of them have worked very hard to keep their house clean.
Ophelia smiles, letting go of Cass's hand and running into the field.
"Look! Our flowers!" She exclaims, turning back to the girls then pointing to the rows of roses, tulips and peonies. "dad and i planted them together!"
Cass turns to them "sorry" he says with a small chuckle.
Both of their eyes widened when they reached the house. Even with the less maintained-looking parts, it looked much nicer than anything either of them have lived in before.
Lyn was quick to compliment. “Oh, this is really nice.” Her eyes went to the flower garden, then to Ophelia. “They’re beautiful!” She said, smiling at her.
Josefine’s mouth was slightly open ”Droga…” she turned to Cassius. ”Obrigada, o senhor,” she said, even though he probably had no idea what it meant.
Cass looks to Josephine "I apologize. I don't speak Portuguese." he says kindly, hoping for the love of god and everything holy that that was the correct language.
He knew many languages, but he didn't know what she said and he obviously felt bad about it.
Meanwhile, Ophelia had picked a few dandelions for Lyn and Josephine from their front yard, holding out a few to Lyn "we can have some tea inside if you would like?" she says happily. granted, it was never the nicest tea, as it was always homeade and they didn't have sugar so they had to go with whatever sweetness the flowers they grew offered them.
Jez squeezed his eyes shut and set his head back on the floor, not wanting to be awake.
His dream was so nice, yet so unnerving and unsettling. He wondered what part of his life that memory was from, but he didnt want to dwell on it too much. At least right now.
"So like am i dying or…?" he asks them jokingly, looking back up at them
Josephine smiled and rubbed her neck awkwardly. “Thank you, sir,” she repeated in English. It was partly a habit, partly a choice, to speak in Portuguese even when the people around her mostly spoke English. She didn’t want to forget it, and she never liked how her mother had decided to assimilate into American culture when they immigrated. Speaking English in front of others so they wouldn’t judge her or her family, making less Brazilian food. Sef had always wanted to keep that part of her alive, even when other people didn’t like or understand it.
Meanwhile, Lyn took a dandelion, still smiling at the girl. “That sounds good. Well, anything sounds good at this point.”
Cass smiles "oh of course" he replies before looking to Ophelia as she handed Lyn the dandelion. He starts towards the house "okay lets get inside Fia" he calls out to her.
Ophelia runs over to Josephine, holding out a dandelion for her as well before she would come inside.
As you got closer to the house, small details would become apparent. Small drawings in marker on the side of the house obviously done by Ophelia. It's the apocalypse. It's not like anyone cares about things like this anymore.
Golden handles to the door along with the doorknocker. Small stone steps leading up to the door having been overrun with vines and dirt, the earth taking back what was hers.
He opens the large wooden door and stepped aside to hold it open for the girls.
(I had to go for the evening, sorry guys. It's really late for me so I'll reply in the morning, but I have to work all day so I won't be around much, fair warning!)
(that's alright! thanks for letting us know <3)
(just have Jesse come back to the apartment—)
(ALRIGHT, IM BACK, What'd I miss?)
(Morning guys! I have to go to work so this is my last reply until lunch break. Hopefully that'll give you both time to catch up on what happened over the weekend ^^)
"Thankee," Gus told Evan. "I'll take whatever help I can get right now. If you wanna start on his cuts 'n bruises, that would be real useful."
He grinned with relief when Jez showed signs of waking up, giving his friend a gentle nudge. "Rise 'n shine, Jez, we're tyin' to patch you up as quick as we can. How you feelin'? Seein' double? Hearin' any angels callin' you home?
Travis shrugged in answer to Tap's question. "I wish I knew where to go, so I could treat the lovely lady to a real vacation here in uh….." he glanced around jokingly. "Nowhere Town, America. But I'm new here too, so I guess we should stick to the highway and keep our eyes peeled. That's the best I got." Reaching the edge of the roof, he spotted an easy place to jump to the next one and turned back to Tap. "Ready? After you."
(might be off for a while, just found out over the announcements this morning [at school] that my friend committed suicide. So yeah, not doing to well rn)
(do you need to talk to someone? a hug? @Mere_Hufflepuff )
(just making sure, if you change your mind, my dm's are open <3 tc)
(thanks :) I'll be okay though.)
(im so sorry to hear that. If theres anything we can do to help just let us know. We love you <3)
(thank you, I think im okay though)
Jez smiles a little at Gus' funny comments "uh yeah something like that" he says as he sits up. With great struggle might i add.
Looking at Gus and Jasper caused a wave of guilt to rush over him. He didnt want to face the fact that he had fully intended on abandoning them. Or at least Gus.
He loved Jasper as much as you could love a child you had literally just met and then you found out that said child was literally the kind of monster that ruined your life and killed your family and why the world is literally damned.
But he did still love her. It was just going to take some time to warm back up to her.
"look guys…." he says lowly, looking down to the ground "im sorry i left" he finally gets out after great hesitation. He never was good at saying sorry but he felt like they deserved it right now.
