Elodie shrugs as she takes a inhale from the cigarette.
When she pulls it away from her mouth, and is finished blowing out the smoke she said
"my aunt and little sister are dead— dont really got nothin' to live for anymore."
Her tone indicated the truth, but was quite dark, might scare her a bit with that sentence love she thought to herself, but shrugged it off, as if she didn't care.
Jesse regrets asking, not knowing what to say to that.
She bites her lip, looking up once again, the clouds hovering above them growing darker.
"Sorry for your losses" she says, trying to show emotion but not really succeeding. Though you could see Jesse was trying to be empathetic.
"You got something to live for though" she says looking back at her.
(I'm baaaack TvT Also I'm quoting you because your last post with Jez was on the previous page)
"I think I saw a motel or somethin somewhere up ahead, I don't know I didn't pay much attention to it. But we could maybe stay there for the night. It's what? 4?" He says going to look at his watch but remembering it had stopped working a while ago.
"But I'm all for skipping this town and going north. It gives me the creeps anyway" he says "I'm working on heading to DC. You heading anywhere specific?" He asks, peaking around the corner of a building.
Gus peeked around the corner as well, judged it to be safe, and strolled onward. "DC sounds jus' fine. I ain't got any better ideas. And it sure would be nice to stay in a motel for a night, even if we gotta invite ourselves in. We'll just have to check for critters 'fore we get too comfy." He stopped to watch a lizard scamper across the road, debated trying to catch it for supper, then decided against it and moved on. "What's in DC, by the way? Friends? More supplies? Or are y'huntin' for more clues about those books you found?"
(That's alright! Glad to see you back! ♡)
Jezariahs eyes followed the lizard as it scurried across the ground.
"You see any around?" He asks, hiking his bag up on his shoulder.
"Oh the books-right. One of the safe places are up there but also one of the closest labs are up there. I'm working on finding out what's going on." He shrugs "I know it sounds a little childish. Trying to find out "the mystery" or whatever" he says fingering in some air quotes as he did.
"It don't sound childish to me," Gus assured him. "Detectives do it and get paid, don't they? We might as well look for clues, seein' as no more detectives are alive to give it a try. Maybe we'll even find out how to get rid of them nasty monsters and people will give us some kinda reward! I know how I'd use a hundred bucks if it was in my pocket, just sayin'."
Jezariah chuckles "yeah? I hope so" he says "though I'm sure they'd give us more than that." He finishes his sentence, looking around the place as they got closer to the bigger buildings such as apartment buildings and hotels.
this towns a lot.bigger than I thought… he thought to himself, kicking a rock across the road.
"Although" he starts "would money even be useful anymore? I'm guessing everyone fled the stores and such." Jez shrugs
"Huh….I guess. Didn't think of that." Gus scratched his chin thoughtfully. "We only had th' one gas station and the boat rental back home, so I never thought about money much." His expression became somewhat dismayed, which looked odd on him. "But…..I always wanted to visit one o' them fancy clubs in th' city with the colored lights and the sparkly dancin' girls! What'll I do if they don't take money anymore? You reckon maybe they'd do a trade or somethin'?"
"Hmmm" he thinks hard about the details of the question, wondering what they would trade.
"Well sad as it is, those fancy pubs are probably all gone ya know? There wouldnt be any dancing ladies or anyone to keep the place running ya know? I've only been to one of those once with my dad when I was like 13" he says with a small smile, remembering that hectic time with his dad. Though his parents were going through a tough time and the whole reason he was with his dad was because he showed up in the middle of the telling him to get in the car and head to New York.
He only realized the situation after he got home and his mother yelled at his dad for "kidnapoing" him and "taking him to strip clubs" and such.
"I only ever seen 'em in magazines," Gus said wistfully. "I sure hope there's at least one left out there. You ever seen those other clubs where the sparkly dancers are guys? Those sound cool too. Aunt Rudy said they weren't people for good folks to hang out with, but my cousin liked to wear heels and he saved my life from a gator once!" He stopped outside a dilapidated multi-story motel with a dusty sign advertising a breakfast special. "Wanna check see if anybody's campin' here? We're officially in th' area I think people might live."
Jezariah raises his eyebrows "wow. You're cousin sounds awesome" he says with a smile, thinking about heels.
could I walk in heels??? I doubt it. I'd twist an ankle. I bet I'd look great though he thought to himself before snapping himself out of his thoughts, looking at the motel.
"Oh yeah this looks like a good place. I hope we find something more than a corpse and a screamer" he half jokes as he steps inside the doorway, the door missing from its hinges.
"I hope so too!" Gus immediately started poking around the dark, cobwebby lobby, leaning over the reception desk in search of a master key or something similar. "If we're lucky, this place might even have some canned food in the back. Hey, somebody wrote in th' register a coupla months ago." He picked up the open book and dusted it off. "'If anybody sees this, I couldn't carry some of my loot so I left it in Room 23 upstairs. I locked one of those mutated things in the indoor swimming pool so watch out." He let the book drop in amazement. "There's a pool here!? Aw shucks, I wanna see that…."
Jezariahs expression hardened with every word. "Alright" he says with a heavy sigh "I wonder how old that note is….I doubt whoever that was is still around" he says, stepping around to look down one of the hallways, a soft thumping every now and again sounding.
Though it wasn't that it was soft, just distant. And against glass.
"You hear that? I'm guessing that's the screamer" he says waving Gus over to him, now looking down both sides of the hallway.
"I wonder if there's a map of this place." He says
(I'm off to bed now, but have one more)
Gus sighed resignedly and checked to make sure his rifle was loaded, then nodded at a sign on the back wall. "I see a directory. Oh hey, and there's an emergency exit map. Looks like the pool's on our right, down th' hall. We fixin' to try 'n kill this thing, or jus' make sure it can't get us? If'n it's been stuck in that one room all this time, maybe it can't break out at all."
(So if and when i come back…mostly when, can I add another character, just to kill her off later?)
Elodie gave a wide eyed look towards Jesse
"and what is that exactly?" she asked curiously
if she says something corny and supposedly inspiring and deep I might just cry she thought to herself
lifting the cigarette, taking a long drag on it, then blowing the grey, yet blue tinted smoke out into the sky above her.
Jesse looks into her eyes, completely stone faced "me" she states as a fact "once I die you can die. But for now I need someone to piss off while I'm still here" she winks

Jez shakes he head "we don't know how long it's been in there. I hope.your right but let's go ahead and see what damage it's done because I'm pretty sure those hotel pool rooms have glass walks." He says walking down the hall.
"Well see how big it is too. Smaller ones can be killed just fine but I doubt we can take on a very big one. Though…it can't be too big since it's in this building so we might get lucky" he says in a quieter voice
"Sounds 'bout right." Gus considered the problem as they walked, keeping his voice lowered but calm. "If the last guy could trap it in a room, it's gotta be little enough to fit through a doorway, don'tcha think? Unless it ain't got no bones and is good at oozin' through tight spaces or somethin'. Never seen anything like that before, an' I hope I never do t' tell you th' truth."
Jez scoffs "yeah please no." He shivers at the thought.
that'd be a nightmare to kill…goodness
"If this person trapped them then it shouldn't be too hard to kill. I would get my hopes up and say maybe they already hurt it but I've seen too many that can heal themselves a little too quickly" he says.
As they walked down the hall, the thumping got louder. Eith each thud against that thick glass, Jezariahs chest got heavy and his stomach twisted, the pool now being right by the corner.
I don't wanna look at it he thought, feeling as if he was going to.be sick
Gus stopped, listening carefully. He noticed that Jez looked pretty uncomfortable all of a sudden and jerked his head at the source of the sound just out of sight. "Y'want me to take a peek first? Bet you a quarter it's taller 'n me." His heart was pounding, but he was either too jaded or too stupid to feel fear just yet. To him it was just like the time a cougar had gotten trapped in his pa's boat shed when he was a kid.
Elodie gives a smile, it being so solid after a few seconds, the smile starts to burn and hurt her cheeks.
She shakes her head, taking a drag on the cigarette, after she blows it out she burst into a large bubble or pure laughter, so much so she has to clutch her stomach, careful not to burn herself on the lit cigarette.
As she laughs she looks at Jesse and shakes her head again, her wild laughter calming down, when she can finally breath she manages to say.
"That was so cheesy I almost cried." With a small smile. Taking another drag on the cigarette.
Jesse glares at her "the fuck?" She exclaims "fine go do.right now! I'll push you over the edge bitch" she huffs, punching her shoulder "youre taking all my cigs too!" Jesse grumbles, crossing her arms
"..pfft..ich war nett" she says, mumbling the last part in thick german

Jezariah shakes his head "nah I'm fine. Though I don't doubt it's big" he says, turning the corner to look through the glass.
His body tenses up as the first thing he notices. The crack in the glass and a small hole in the center.
He looks back to Gus, brows furrowed "nothings in there" he says, turning back around to a black blur flying towards him and hitting the glass with a loud THUD once again.
"Ah!" He exclaims, falling back against the wall of the hallway.
"N-nevermind" he says, looking up at the being through the thick glass.
It's body was long, but not too tall, at least compared to.the ones Jezariah has seen. This one only being about 7 feet tall.
The body reminded him of a centipede but with human limbs growing out of his body, though some even on its back and face.
The face had that of some sort of catfish as it pressed its face against the crack in the wall, a thin tongue like tube squeezed its way through the hole of the glass as it's beady eyes glared the humans down.
Gus whipped around the corner and his eyes widened when he laid them on the creature. "Sweet Mary, that's an ugly one! An' I owe you a quarter I guess. Looks like somethin' from a scary alien movie on TV." He stayed well back from the window, not wanting to find out if the thing could grab him with that nasty tongue. "Welp, th' glass don't look so sturdy anymore. What d'you think? I reckon we better kill this one dead 'fore it gets to be a real problem."
Jezariah shivers, standing to his feet though keeping his back pressed against the wall.
I'm gonna be sick the thought to himself as he watched saliva drip down the glass.
"How do we kill it though? Just cut it's head off or somethin?" He asks before gagging a little, covering his mouth as he watched the screamer pull back it's head and banging it's head on the glass once more, it's tongue still in the hole.
It's dead eyes flick toward Gus, one of its eyes out of focus and the large fish like pupils a cloudy grey, the other eye basically locked on Gus before it opens his mouth wide, it's jaws unhinged and suction to the glass as it let put an earpiercing scream.
Jez leans over and covers his ears as it's scream vibrated the building. Jezariahs head pounded and his muscles felt weak. He pulls his hand from his ear and looks at his palm, seeing blood dripping down his hand.
*you can play the.monster too lol I don't mind :)
(Good to know ^^)
"Aw hell," Gus muttered, shaking his head and blinking rapidly to clear the the echoes of the scream from his brain. He'd heard the creatures make this noise before, but never at point-blank range. "That ain't good. Looks like we gotta shut 'er up first."
Dragging Jez back around the corner so they wouldn't rile up the monster by standing in plain view, he shrugged off his backpack and started rummaging through it. A large fish hook came out, and some plastic twine, and some really smelly bait from a tin. Expertly tying the bait and hook at one end of the twine, he kept searching, collecting a small half-full bottle of some clear liquid. "Jez, you got any hydrogen peroxide? The stuff for first-aid n' whatever?"
