Mouse packed her bags for the morning. It wasn't much - a spare peach from the Brewer's leftover supplies, a plastic water bottle, a rag to wipe away her sweat. But it was all needed for her four-mile slopey walk to the factory.
She checked the watch on her hand, self-painted with looping blue colors. It was almost 5:15, and she would most likely be early.
She shrugged, packing her bags with more necessities - bear spray, more water, a shawl. She glanced back at her room - for now, just hers since the other house slave was still waiting to leave that farm in the south - and she smiled.
She walked out the door, walking through the grasslands towards the factory.
