Tasper stepped into the living room, his hands clasped together to keep them from shaking. He was afraid, definitely, but he was also furious. Today was the anniversary of his father's death, but when he'd asked if he could take a day –not even the whole day, just part of it– he'd been turned down. Now he stared at the master with eyes filled with hatred, daring him to speak. Suddenly someone else (whoever wants to) entered the room.

Zisel hadn’t been expecting her father staring down a slave in their living room. She expected silence so she could read her book - it wasn’t about to happen now, was it? She stood silently, not sure what to do.

(I'd been thinking about that and I decided that lets just have society kind of run down and dystopian-like. A larger imbalance of wealth. So the elite people who own slaves are wealthy and white, but everyone else (white or otherwise) is super broke and the economy isn't that great)

Tasper glanced at Zisel. She looked a bit worried about him. He shrugged one shoulder. The master glared at him. "Don't look at her, boy. Look at me."

"Sorry," Tasper spat, his teeth grinding. He was so close to snapping at him. Would it be worth the punishment? Maybe.
