Cora decided to keep quiet, feeling rather out of place now due to the girl’s previous statement. She fiddled with the chain on her skirt, wishing she was somewhere with a herbology book at least.
Karma had started to make his way over upon seeing the uncomfortable gestures made by his sister. He held back a huff as he sat down opposite her, biting a straw between his teeth like he always did when he wanted to smoke. “You okay Bambina?” his voice was deep, husky, a much nicer comparison——he thought——to the voice of the boy who had spoken to his sister. The girl herself simply nodded, but still she didn’t look up.
Jake then shook it off, eating his doughnut, Then drank more of his coffee.
Evelyn shyed away. "I really am sorry…I can come off as a little rough at first. Can I do anything to make up for this? Get you anything?"
Jake offered his other doughnut, handing it to Cora. " do you want my doughnut?"
Cora shook her head, finally looking up at Jake with wide eyes. “Thank you for the offer but I’m lactose intolerant.” she caught Karma’s scowl from the corner of her eye, was he being protective of her again? She gave him a look that told him she was fine and that Jake wasn’t going to hurt her. Not that Karma was inclined to believe her.
Jake took it back . " im sorry i didn't know." He looked down at his food, noticeing now thta he felt sick to his stomache, but then shook it away. " Can you have coffee? it doesn't have any milk in it."
“I’d like that.” Once again Cora’s beautiful bright smile returned. Coffee was something she would die for, the sudden rush of adrenaline she got after drinking coffee was something she’d become mildly addicted to.
Karma was half in mind to let out the huff he’d been holding in, when he noticed a very effeminate boy writing something down. He leaned over with one eyebrow raised. “What you writing, if you don’t mind me asking?”
Evan jolted, surprised by Karma talking to him. He brushed back his hair, and took a breath. "I'm working on my book…" His voice was smooth and kinda hard, and sweet as well. Not super deep, but deep enough. He took a bite of cereal and returned to his writing, careful not to dribble on the page. He was blushing a little bit. The hot guy was talking to him, the fem boy. He thought it was weird since people tended to avoid him more when he was dressed more feminine.
“What’s your book about?” Karma tried not to sound impatient, he’d gotten good at hiding his actual emotions. Although, there was something about this person that intrigued him. Karma wasn’t one for social interaction, but getting to know this one wouldn’t hurt, right?
"O-oh uhm. So basically. The moon goddess and sun god get in a huge fight over who rules over the sky, and so the sun disappears out of anger, so a hero, and a plant nerd go off to go get the sun back before their world dies. It's really gay as well." He smiled softly. Evelyn got up and went off to go get some more food from the cafeteria.
“Sounds interesting.” Karma nodded, smiling himself. “I think a lot of people would like that kind of book.” While Karma didn’t know much about books himself, his sister loved to ramble on about them, and this story sounded right up her alley. Though it did spark an image in his head for what all these characters would look like on paper——he’d have to draw them at some point.
He nodded as Clara pulls out a cigarette and lights it, taking a hit and puffing it. "Clara quit smoking in the cafeteria, do it outside." She rolled her eyes and ignored him.
Oh the glory that threatened to show on Karma’s face when he realised that someone else there smoked. He wasn’t alone! Too bad she wasn’t much of a looker, nor did he swing that way——in another world perhaps he would have liked a woman like her. He dragged his eyes away from the cigarette and stared at the veins in his palm as if to distract himself.
Clara looked at him. "You want one?" She offered the opened pack to him, knowing the struggle of a smoker. Evan shook his head. "Just don't get caught you two." He said with a sigh, returning to his writing once more.
Jake handed her the other coffee in his bag. " i always have like 5 in my bag JUST in case i feel tired."
Karma preferred to roll himself, but these were desperate times, and so gratefully took a cigarette from the pack with a nodded thanks. He wasn't going to light it now, not while his sister was around, but as soon as he got outside he would. "I never get caught." he winked at the writing boy. "I don't believe I know your name."
Cora took the coffee from Jake with a dazzling grin. "Thank you, I really appreciate it. I usually keep some on me but I didn't have the time this morning." she carefully opened it and took a sip. Already she could feel the adrenaline building itself up. She wasn't going to down it, that wouldn't have been polite. "So uhm… What lessons do you have?"
Jake thought for a moment then pulled out a grid paper with his list of classes/ lessons " Let's see…i have … English. Then I have…choir." Jake smiled.
"For some reason you didn't strike me as a singer." Cora meekly teased, smiling softly so that Jake would know she wasn't being serious. "I imagine you to be more of a drama person, since you kind of have a flamboyant personality." she pulled her leather satchel onto her lap and started rummaging around all of the books and papers until finding her schedule. "I have English, and then apparently music. Would it be okay if I stick with you? I don't really know where I'm going."
"Oh uh, I'm Evan. And yours?" He smiled again, a cheery honorable smile. He put away his notebook as he checked his phone, and began to pack up. "Cmon Ev, we only have a minute till the bell rings." She nodded and also began to put her stuff away, humming a bit.
Evan, that’s a nice name.
Karma was beginning to take a strange liking to this person, and it confused the hell out of him. He noticed that they were packing up, presumably to head to lessons. Ah, he’d forgotten about them. In truth the only reason he was here was because his sister had forced him to enter the building, and even though he respected her, she was gravely mistaken if she thought he was going to stick around for very long. Karma rose up from his seat and leaned down to whisper in Evan’s ear. “Most people call me Karma, but you can call me Klaus.” And with that he proceeded to make his way outside so he could smoke——his body was beginning to object to staying indoors too long.
He jolted at that, and he rubbed the blush out of his cheeks. Evelyn rolled her eyes. "Evan just take notes for me." And she walked out the front doors, and sat on a bench outside, taking out a joint and lighting it. She laid down and stared at the sky while puffing away, as Evan shook his head and headed off to class. (You guys wanna do a time skip to lunch or what?
