"Uh… no…?" Havenwood replied unsurely.
"Uh… no…?" Havenwood replied unsurely.
"OH MY GOODNESS. Well, you're doing it this year then. It's going to be amazing. Halloween is always amazing. It's a holiday dedicated to scaring the people you hate." Elise sighed, smiling.
"But… the people I hate are Gods… I can't…" Havenwood stuttered weakly.
"Oh, yes you can. C'mon, think. It doesn't even have to be someone you hate. It can be, I don't know, a little prank that's just for the laughs. Apollo, Athena - she'd probably see it coming, though - anyone else! It's the best month of the year and today is the first day. We're going to make leaf piles now." She pulled on a jacket and opened the door, looking behind her. "Coming?"
(I'm watching miraculous ladybug)
(mmmmm i never really liked that show.)
Havenwood stood up and followed her, still prickiling with curiosity, and still in his pjs.
"Make what?"
"Leaf piles. And then jump in them. It's fun - if the piles are big enough, otherwise you end up just falling on the ground. But-" She swung the door open and smiled. "There's plenty of fallen leaves to make perfect jumping piles."
There weren't any leaves whatsoever.
"Uh… we don't get… climate change…"
(what no that's what what that ruins her fun plans)
(It's… logic…?)
(agh.)
Elise frowns. "That's stupid. It ruins all the fun." She runs outside anyway. "There are still leaves even if they're not on the ground, though." She dissapears into the forest, laughing.
Havenwood chased after her. "Nooo!!!"
"Yesssssss!" She calls back, her laughter blowing through and around the trees. What if I hide in a tree? She thinks to herself, smiling coyly. And up she goes, swinging herself from branch to branch, higher and higher with surprising agility. The city has taught her some things.
Havenwood ran under her tree looking around like the oblivious hunter he was. "ELISE??"
Leaning against the small trunk at the very top, Elise giggled. For the god of hunting, Havenwood was extremely oblivious to some things. Didn't he ever hunt animals that lived in trees?
Havenwood grinned a little, hearing the snap of a twig above him.
"Hmmm… ELISE??" He decided to keep up the ruse.
Elise shut her mouth. Sometimes I wonder if you deserve the title that is God of Hunting, She thought with a smile.
"You really think so?" His voice asked suddenly, very close by. He'd disappeared from the bottom of the tree.
Elise jumped in fright, nearly falling off the branch. She looked up. A couple branches above her Havenwood was seated, grinning broadly. She scowled. "I broke a twig, didn't I?"
"Yep!" Havenwood laughed. "Anyway, let's see if you can find me?" He stood up on the branch and jolted away.
"You-" Elise growled, leaping up on the branch and darting through the trees after him, finding last-second footholds and swinging on sturdy little twigs. She could see Havenwood doing the same just a few meters in front of her. "You'll never get away!"
Havenwood turned, hovering in the air for a few moments, saluted her with a grin, then plummeted to the ground.
"Wha-Havenwood!" Elise screeched, forgetting for a moment he was a god and wouldn't get hurt. She half fell, half clambered down the branches until she, too, was on the ground. But Havenwood was no where to be seen. Her face scrunched up. Are you okay? Where are you?
There was no response.
Havenwood! She screeched in her head, but went to find him. Fine. If you're not coming, I'll sniff you out! She declared, running towards where the sun was finishing its daily climb in the sky. "The cliff was this way, I think." She mumbled to herself. Athena, of all people, could tell her where he was.
Havenwood chuckled. Athena won't help you.
