(It's okay, I completely understand. Take your time! I don't want you to feel rushed.)

Sutechi sighed not trusting the portal one bit but he moved to grab emerse and shove her towards the portal before entering himself.
Emerse stumbled into the portal letting out some curses as she stumbled into it.
(Sorry it's short)

(Length isn't important as long as content gives progress. Okay?)
(Now we just need Tired.)

Nix tried to slip through an exit, but was quickly ambushed by more guards and was chased back where they came from. They slashed their knife here and there, but other than that they were not in the fighting mood. However, one of the soldiers did try to grab at their ear, and Nix went in immediately for a bite of his hand.
When the mysterious portal materialized before them, there was only a moment’s hesitation. Both panic and the Elf’s urging propelled them forward to the voice inside the portal.

(Well done, Tired!)

Arcturus noted that Nix had scrambled through, and made a dive towards the portal. As he did, he pulled all his arrows back to himself as shards of metal, skewering guards and blocking projectiles.
He rolled through the bright portal, coming up on his feet and immediately drawing his bow, pointing it back the way he'd come. "Close it!"

There was a small pop! as the portal closed, and the girl sighs in relief.

Now that everyone was through, they could see that this girl was only a little taller than Nix, and that they were on a raised platform in the middle of an old library.

The girl was wearing simple robes and slippers that were made of cotton and leather, respectively. Apart from her, the library felt empty.

The girl smiles shyly at the group.

"Thank you." she tells them, her voice soft.

(got it)

Arcturus sighed in relief, and the metal flowed back up his arms, but slowly this time, like it was tired. He slowly sank to his knees, hunching over with an audible groan as the damage from whatever heavy blows had been hitting his shield sank in.
"Thank YOU…" He muttered quietly. He was happy to be out of there. He reached slowly for more athelas from his pouch. and suddenly remembered the big man.
"Hey, what about the giant?" He glanced up, his shoulders and back protesting painfully as he lifted his head. "You gonna get him out, or are we saying farewell?"

Deleted user

The girl's face turns solemn as she kneels in front of Arcturus, stopping him from taking any more athelas.

"Sardoth Dragonheart is dead, or on Lady Death's doorstep. There's nothing we can do." she murmurs, a faint golden halo forming as she casts healing magic on the elf.

Arcturus nodded. Any man with an attitude like that is bound to get himself killed eventually. Still. With a name like Dragonheart, he was clearly important to somebody.
"I am sorry for what is clearly a loss to you." he said quietly, and began murmuring a short prayer to Mandos in Elvish.
He could feel the magic take effect, and he stretched as the pain receded from his muscles and bones.

The girl looks bitter. Too bitter.

"He saved my life." she whispers, getting up and walking off.

About an hour later, the girl comes back with a pitcher of wine and a few glasses. Pouring Arcturus and herself generous servings, she introduces herself.

"My name is Leila Maple." she says softly.

"What is your name?" she asks.

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

Emerse stretches out her metal limbs as she looks around the place, she notices the little girl bring in the wine and moves to walk over.
"Ya sure your old enough for a drink like that?" She spoke to the little girl as she looked down at her.
Sutechi took off the guards helmet he was wearing revealing his floofy red hair and greenish blueish eyes.
You could now see just how tired he looked, along with the stitches along his neck. He moved to take off the breast plate of the armor and set it down as well.

Leila smiles slyly, but that smile quickly vanishes.

"Even if I'm not, you won't stop me." she replies.

Arcturus nodded his thanks and took the wine. He didn't drink it just yet, studying the girl in front of him.
She was a child, barely 10 years old he would guess, but there was something about her that spoke of long ages and ancient knowledge.
The metal-limbed girl had asked a perfectly valid question, but something told him this was a child who was very used to the bottle.
"My name is Arcturus Thenuviel." He said gently, trying to relieve the slight tension after Leila's mildly threatening reply. He twirled the glass slowly, creating a slow whirlpool with the wine. "Why did you save us, Leila?"

Deleted user

"Arcturus Thenuvial. . ." Leila echos. She sighs and knocks back the wine, then pours another glass before answering Arcturus' question.

"I remembered a dream." she replies.

Bane groaned, propping himself up on his forearms. Getting pushed into a portal and then tumbling into a library wasn’t the best ride of his life. Especially to get knocked into a bookshelf. He took deep, heavy breaths. His luck had been— not the best since he crumpled to the ground. Squeezing his eyes shut, he whispered “Arcturus.” Why had the elf shoved him into the portal? Was it his unwillingness? He didn’t know. Bane didn’t dare to move until his body's natural healing ability patched him up. Not with the pain his bleeding temple cause him. Soon after the skin stitched itself together, he quickly stood to his feet, placing a hand on his head to check if any blood remained. “What the hell happened? Why did a portal appear out of nowhere? Why are we in a library? And why is there a child drinking wine?” Bane whimpered, he had stood up too fast. “Am I dead— oh wait, I would have known if I died.” He waved his hand. “Why are we here—“ he pointed to the floor. “Exactly? Like what’s the point in saving a bunch of scrappy prisoners?” The hound was full of questions, not tuning into the current conversation. He wasn’t ungrateful, just inquisitive.

Deleted user

Leila sighs.

"Has anybody figured out a way to get the hellhound to be quiet? Because if he stops talking, I can actually answer you people's questions." she snaps. She wasn't drunk, far from it. She just didn't understand tact.

@Tired-but-passionate

As everyone talked, Nix wandered off and began looking around the library. When they heard that the large man was dead, their ears lowered with faint sadness. They liked that human, he had given them food. Nix took a moment of stillness and silence in mourning, then went back to searching the library. They sniffed the books, maybe chewed on the shelves. They caught sight of a mouse huddled in a corner and attempted to catch it, but it quickly disappeared into a hole in the wall.

@EldritchHorror-Davadio health_and_safety emoji_events

Arcturus watched Leila carefully. Dreams weren't always good, and he had known enemies who saved people only to kill them later.
He heard Bane coming awake from where he had shoved the hound earlier. Probably a little harder than I should have…
He stood up, listening to Bane ask questions, and Leila's snippy response. Orome's Horn, these two are going to get along So Well he thought sarcastically.
He answered Leila, keeping his voice low. "I can't make him, but bribery might work." He held out the glass of wine to Bane. He briefly looked sheepish, and his voice suddenly layered with charms. "Also, apologies about the shove. My shoulder was in the process of breaking and we needed to move quickly." He held eye contact, clearly trying to make peace.

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Bane glared at Lelia, offended by the kid’s snappish behavior toward him. He then raised an eyebrow when Arcturus offered the wine. “Really, Arcturus? You’re trying to bribe me with something I can’t— drink. There’s a high chance it’ll poison me and I’ll get sick to my stomach.” He sighed, not affected by the elf’s charisma. “I know what you’re trying to do. I’ll just shut up and sit down.” He huffed, closing his mouth, but his eyes said it all. Why am I here? Bane didn’t exactly sit, he kept standing still, crossing his arms. His ear twitched, noting the sudden drop in air pressure. Glancing around the library to see if there were any grimoires, perhaps, laying around.
