"I don't think anyone's found out. Even Tawnyleaf. She wouldn't let him leave camp alone if she knew." Duckwing murmured, his tail flicking.
"I don't think anyone's found out. Even Tawnyleaf. She wouldn't let him leave camp alone if she knew." Duckwing murmured, his tail flicking.
“Should we tell her?” Coppershine asked thoughtfully. “I don’t want to be a jerk or break his trust, but this is serious.”
"Maybe… maybe we could tip her off so she can make it look like she stumbled upon him or the clearing herself. Then he would still trust us."
“That’s… not a terrible idea! Look at you, using your brain,” she teased, giving him a nudge.
Duckwing rolled his eyes again, nudging her back with a purr. "Maybe you should try using yours~"
“Oh, I do, but it seems like when I’m around you, it’s my heart that takes control~,” she meowed. Coppershine flicked his ear with her tail, grinning.
"Is it, now?" He purred louder, nuzzling her cheek softly.
“Yep! So much so, in fact, that it’s starting to become a bit of a problem. Duckwing, I am going to have to launch a formal complaint with our leader,” she said, resting her head on his side. “You’re too cute.”
"Oh dear, that sounds serious~" Duckwing purred again, curling his tail around her.
“You have no idea,” she said with a dramatic sigh. “I can’t hunt, I can’t sleep. I’m basically useless.”
"Well, maybe I can help you. We do kinda need to go hunting anyways…" Duckwing looked over at the exit.
Tawnyleaf greeted her apprentice as he padded into the medicine den. "Hello, Dewpaw. Did you bring that Marigold?"
Dewpaw nodded, putting it in its proper place. He acted normal, as though he hadn't just basically had a mental breakdown. It was how he'd kept it hidden all this time, but now he had Duckwing and Coppershine to worry about.
“Lovely!” Coppershine chirped. “It’ll make it seem like our obsession with each other isn’t totally consuming our lives.” She hopped to her feet and stretched. “C’mon, slowpoke!”
Duckwing got to his paws as slowly as possible to tease Coppershine. "Oh, I'm hurrying."
“Ugh, you are the worst!” Coppershine complained with fake annoyance. “You gotta step it up if you wanna be-“ She paused suddenly.
Duckwing finished standing up quickly when he saw her expression. "What's wrong?"
Hornetkit nuzzled his mother's warm, milky scented fur. He had not yet opened his eyes but he could decipher each cat by scent. He snuggled close to Batkit and pressed against him.
“Nothing. Nothing! Let’s get moving, Duckwing!” Coppershine said. She ducked her head away and started padding towards the exit.
Batkit mewled indignantly, stretching his tiny paws out in front of him. He was smaller than his brother by a decent bit, but that wasn't going to stop him.
Duckwing trotted after her, seeming worried. "You're sure you're okay?"
Hornetkit could hear the noises of cats outside and wondered what everyone was doing. He wanted to go outside too! He shifted, mewling.
Batkit rolled away from Hornetkit, his fur getting dirty. "Now, now, Batkit… you can't run off yet." Crescentshine pulled him closer and began grooming him.
Sparrowkit blinked her little eyes open, woken up by her brothers. She let out a soft mew and snuggled back against her mother.
Batkit tried to push Crescentshine away to no avail, meowing loudly. He seemed to settle when he was set down, though.
