(Are they supposed to all be from the same city?)
(I thought no, I figured this would be a good way for them to realize that)
"Um I guess I'm close to the north end but not really. Does Boston even have a south side?" Finn questioned looking at the boy confused.
Erik sat up straight in his chair, “Did you just say Boston?” Erik held his breath, hoping he heard Finn wrong.
Maggie didn’t say anything for a moment. Boston? That wasn’t anywhere near San Francisco.
Sebastian laughed.
"Riiight, Boston," he said.
Things were getting weirder and weirder by the minute.
"Last I checked, buddy, I was up in Maine."
Daso blinked slowly. "So this isn't Alabama?" He grinned. "I'm less upset than I should be."
“But we’re not in Maine,” Maggie responded, realizing that it wasn’t just one deluded person. They were all confused, it appeared. She wondered how they were all from different places—or at least, four of them were. “Unless I was taken across the country without my knowledge. I’m from San Francisco.”
Erik bit his tongue to keep himself from groaning in frustration and anger. “Heck no. Just- just heck no.” He stood, clenching his hands into fists. The people that kidnapped them… they weren’t messing around. We’re done for.
Finn's eyes wandered. How could they get us all here? How long have we been missing, ” he questioned his voice low in the last part. ”I-i have to get home, ” He says standing up breathing heavy.
“You’re not the only one,” Maggie replied. “We just have to think this through. There’s gotta be solution or some loophole we can use.” Her words sounded calm and logical, but it was clear that the girl saying them was feeling anything but.
Daso shrugged, still carefree. "I mean, they've left us alone for the time being. What if this is a good thing? I mean…was anyone else homeless before this started?"
“Can’t say I was,” Maggie sighed, missing her home already, despite how desperate she was to leave it only days ago. “I’d take my cramped, crowded little apartment over this creepfest any day.” But she couldn’t help but feel bad for Daso.
Finn shook his head trying to calm down a tiny bit. “No but my locks don’t really work so it probably wasn’t hard for them to break in,” he said starting to pace around the room.
Erik bit his lip, but then sighed, “I live on the streets with my sis,” He confessed as he looked at Daso. At least I’m not the only one, Erik thought, still debating whether sharing that part of him was a good idea or not.
Daso glanced away, his mouth remaining in a smile while his eyes dimmed a bit. "You and your sis, huh? Sounds like a decent life." He fiddled with the bracelet on his wrist.
“I suppose.” Erik said quietly, barely more than a whisper, before he looked at the floor. Maybe he should have just stayed silent. He bit his lip again before going back to the tv. He needed something to do with his hands.
“Not homeless, but off at college,” Sebastian said, “There has to be some common thread here, though. Right?”
Maggie felt awkward, and suddenly very privileged. She’d always had somewhere to live, even in the worst of times. “We just need to figure out what it is,” Maggie replied to Sebastian. He could be right! She thought for a moment. “But what would all of us have in common?”
"There must be," Daso agreed, brightening up again. "Follow up question, how long would it take for people to notice you're missing?"
”i guess if you are away at college fewer people would know you are gone, ” Finn suggests. ”Same with homelessness. ’No one would miss us’ type of situation.” he thinks back to the crime shoes he used to watch with Willow.
“I don’t know,” Sebastian said, “I have roommates. They’d notice if I didn’t return. Otherwise, I kind of fade into a sea of faces. On the other hand, I have six siblings, and it’s likely someone might try to contact me while I’m away.”
"There must be," Daso agreed, brightening up again. "Follow up question, how long would it take for people to notice you're missing?"
”My family would know right away but they can't call the cops, ” he admits finally sitting down.
“I hope sooner rather than later, but to be completely honest, I don’t think they’d know…” Maggie said awkwardly, looking away quickly. She didn’t exactly want to discuss the reason why, and she hoped it was clear enough that no one would ask.
Daso nodded, his smile becoming a grim smirk. "Yeah. Might take a minute for my people to realize I'm missing, too." He didn't want to admit that they might never notice. The thought made him almost physically ache with how much he would miss them.
