“That’s a good question,” Maggie said, her only way of answering since she herself had no clue. “We could look around I guess? But not that there’s much to see…” She noticed Daso’s reaction to Erik’s idea of writing letters. She wondered why, but brushed it off as probably just upset about the whole dying and leaving your family behind thing. She shot him a look of comfort, hoping it helped at least a little bit.
"We can check all the drawers and everything," Daso said, all smiles once again. He wandered off where there seemed to be a kitchen area, rummaging through the drawers. He found a box of pop tarts, but not anything to write with. He returned to the TV room with a pop tart in his mouth. "Well, I found food, but not paper."
"There's wallpaper and wall paint," Sebastian said, "If worse comes to worst, we can just carve notes into the walls. I know that I, for one, really need to write home in case anything bad happens to me."
“Me too,” Maggie agreed. “I have a lot to apologize for.” She felt the lump in the back of her throat again and swallowed before she started crying. “Can I have a pop tart?” Hopefully that would distract her from having to think about her poor family.
Daso smiled kindly at her, noticing her melancholy expression. "Here, darling, have a poptart," he said, handing her the other one inside of his pack. "Careful, it's really sweet –almost as sweet as you are."
Sage nearly gagged at Daso's statement. "Are you seriously flirting of all things?" she asked, a bit annoyed. It bothered her that in the current situation the boy thought the most sensible thing would be to hit on Maggie. Not that the older girl seemed to mind, but now didn't seem like the time.
"Well, I think she's cute, and it seems to put her more at ease, so why not?" he laughed. "Is someone jealous?"
Maggie flushed, taking the poptart. Daso was sweet, and she returned his feelings, but he didn’t know her. She wasn’t sweet or kind or any of those things. She was awful and selfish. She forced a smile, but the exchange between him and Sage was making her a bit uncomfortable. Admittedly, his flirting did help her feel better, but Sage pointing it out made her realize maybe it wasn’t best for the situation. “Thanks,” she muttered, not wanting to get involved in the argument. If she said anything more she thought she might cry.
Daso kept the overconfident smile on his face, but he felt a good bit insecure. Had he done something wrong, said something wrong? The thought ate away at him. He shook it away, or at least stuffed it down, and took another bite of his poptart as though he were completely at ease.
Maggie ate the pop tart, grateful to Daso for getting them. She felt bad for acting weird all of a sudden, but imagining how her family must feel right now was killing her. The last thing she’d told them was how she couldn’t stand them. “I’ll be right back,” she said, hurrying out of the room before she made a scene and cried in front of everyone. She hated crying in public. She shot a wobbly smile at the group before disappearing around the door. Why couldn’t she keep it together for even a few more minutes? She was so pathetic.
Daso watched her leave with a conflicted expression on his face. He wanted to go after her, but he figured she might need some time alone. Besides, it was probably his fault she was upset –he wished he wasn't so stupid.
Maggie started crying. She wished that she were stronger, but at least she had sort of come up with a plan. Luckily she was a quiet crier so it was unlikely that the others could hear her breaking down. She was such a mess! She really could have used some tissues right now, but she didn’t see any. She had run away and her family would never find her again. And it was all her fault. Why was she like this? She was letting everyone down. She felt so alone.
Sebastian had started wandering around the house, just kind of exploring and trying to figure out if there even was a potential way out when he ran into Maggie.
He looked around to see if anyone else was there.
“Hey,” he whispered.
Maggie wiped her arm across her face, trying to get rid of the tears. “Hey,” she repeated quietly. She cleared her throat. “I mean, hey,” she added, louder. She tried her best to look normal. She gave him a wan smile, wishing for a moment that it was Daso that found her, but she waved it off. She shouldn’t be dumb. It wasn’t like Daso actually cared about her anyway.
“What’s the matter?” he whispered, tilting his head, “No one else is around. You can tell me.”
Sebastian gave a little smile. He had two younger sisters. This wasn’t really anything new to him.
Maggie had a denial ready on the tip of her tongue, but instead of saying her typical defensive shit, she decided (to her own surprise) to actually talk to him. “I ran away,” she whispered. “And now my family is going to think I hate them forever.” Her eyes began to water all over again and another couple of tears fell as she wiped them away.
“Oh…” Sebastian sighed, “Do you wanna talk about it? You must’ve had your reasons. Besides, I’m sure it’ll feel good to get it out.”
He offered his sweatshirt sleeve for her to wipe her tears away.
She glanced at him and then smiled shyly, accepting the sweatshirt sleeve. “Thank you,” she said, wiping at her face. “I was mad at my brother because he and his friends completely trashed my room, and then my sister and her girlfriend were always at our house and always super annoying. My mom’s never around, and I always end up cleaning up after everyone. And then on top of that I was so stressed with school. I just couldn’t take it anymore. I was so frustrated that I just…left. I realized pretty quickly I was being an idiot, but that’s the last thing I remember before waking up here.” She burst into tears again. “God, I’m sorry. I must seem like a total pathetic loser right now. I just wanted to let them know how much I love them but now I can’t.”
“How about we get you back to your family so you can let them know?” Sebastian suggested, “I don’t blame you for leaving though. I mean… you probably shouldn’t have, but it sounds like a lot was bothering you and you bottled it up until you couldn’t take it anymore.”
Finn wandered around looking for paper. When he got back to the others he heard about their wall idea. ”I think we need something that could be transported. So whoever makes it put of here can deliver it, ” he explains the last part coming out as nothing but a whisper.
“But how would we get back to them? We’re trapped in this place by some psycho killer!” She continued sobbing. “But thanks for being so nice.”
“A psycho killer who hasn’t killed us yet,” Sebastian reminded her, “We still have a chance. And no problem. It’s just who I am. I’ve always been the peacekeeper in my family and such. It just made things worse for anyone to act out of line or selfishly. There were too many of us for that.”
Maggie sniffed, wiping away the last of her tears. “You’re right. We still have a chance,” she agreed. “We just need to think of a plan.” She smiled at him, though this time it was genuine.

"You're right," Daso said. He pursed his lips. "Maybe there's a book or something around here, so we can tear out some pages and write on them."
“That’s the spirit!” Sebastian said, smiling back, “We’ll play this stupid game I guess and get out of here. And just between you and me, I think it’s all a hoax.”
