(oh. okay.)
I keep singing, willing the woman to keep fighting. Nurses rush and bustle around her with tubes and clipboards and calming voices. They don't seem to notice my light, but the woman does. She stops and focuses on me, trembling with pain. I smile, nod my head, and keep singing, willing her to birth the child safely. And after five minutes of hard will, she does. She lives. The nurses cheer, and my job is done. I walk into the hallway, searching for another tug. At a hospital there almost always is.
Antoine walks through the halls, following faint tugs. He comes upon a man, broken and bruised. A motorcycle accident apparently. He chuckles a little. Such a shame.
Marlene feels a pull leading to the Motorizes Injuries hallway, which leads her to a door. She opens it, and her eyes fly to the grim reaper, who's just putting his hand on the man's head. With a leap, she kicks him down and wraps her wings around the man.
Antoine growls, "Of course. My fun is ruined by you." He swings his scythe at her. "Dying is a natural thing! You've already brought life into the world! It's my turn to bring death." He yells, swinging again.
Marlene scowls at him, "This man isn't dying of natural causes! He can't be more than thirty years old! Let me!" She yells.
"NO! Don't you see he's suffering?!" Antoine growls. "Would you like to go through that pain?" He hisses, "People don't have to die of natural cause. So get your filthy wings off him!"
"He has so much to live for! His suffering will soon end!" Marlene hissed right back, throwing herself backwards over the man and kicking Antione back.
(just a forewarning can I win please or no)
Sure//
Antoine hisses, "But look at him! He's in so much pain! It's better to end his suffering now!" he argues, dodging her kick. He growls a little. "D*mn angels! They have no sympathy for humans, they only want them alive so they can gloat. Disgusting."
"NO SYMPATHY?? Why do you think we keep them alive? If it weren't for us, there'd be no human race!" Marlene argues, giving one last punch to his face before turning her attention to the man, holding her head in his hands. Letting the reaper hit her, she mustn't let this man die.
He growls, "Oh really?! You'd think we'd let the humans die off? You think we're that shallow?" He shakes his head and throws her off the man. "Listen here, Guardian, we're the ones who keep the balance!" He places a foot on her wing. "So knock it off already!"
"Get off him, you slimy insect!" Marlene kicks him in the b*lls and he crumples to the floor. Singing the tune quickly and caressing the man's broken leg, he is soon sitting up in bed. Marlene rings the nurse's bell for good measure, and stomps on Reaper's chest before leaving. He won't be getting up for a while.
He groans, sitting there in the hospital in utter defeat. Oh how he hated angels. He winces as he slowly sits up, wincing a little. Great. Now his back and chest. Could this day get any better. He leaps but manages to crash in an abandoned area, a piece of glass cutting into his side. He whisks away his reaper appearance and limps back towards the dorms, hissing in pain. 'That was a low move, kicking me in the crotch…' He thinks. 'I can barely even feel my legs…'
Marlene sits on the college roofs, waiting for more tugs that day, but none come. So she ducks into a bathroom when no one's watching, balls up her dress and folds her wings into her shirt. Her back and hips hurt more than ever after that d*mnned reaper hit her and shoved her down. She's going to give him a taste of his own medicine and kill him one day, she really would.
Crashing into her dorm, a surprised Antione looks up. She's quick to hide the balled-up dress.
He nods to her. He wasn't in the slightest embarrassed about being shirtless, carefully bandaging his cut side and holding an icepack to his chest. "Hey." he says, before returning to his wounds. Antoine grimaces, hissing in slight pain as he cleans the cut with rubbing alcohol.
Marlene looks at him in surprise. "A - Antione," She breathes, "Why is your shirt off?"
"I'm dealing with my injuries. Why else would it be off?" He glances at her, his eyebrow raised. He was well built, his torso littered with scars from his past. He shakes his head, continuing to clean. "Are you going to keep staring, help me, or walk away?" He asks, not looking up at her. He winces again as the rubbing alcohol bubbles and fizzes.
"First of all, why do you have injuries, and two, how can I help you?" Marlene asked, carefully edging closer. She wasn't often alone with a shirtless boy.
He shrugs, "Got in a gang fight… the usual." he mutters, "Mind grabbing some bandages?" He asks, looking up at her, his obsidian eyes oddly captivating. Antoine clenches his teeth as he continues to clean the cut, the blood flow coming to a slow drip.
"A gang fight? Really, Antione? This town doesn't have gang fights. It doesn't even have gangs! It was listed as the safest town for teens in the world in the newspaper two days ago," She continues, putting the bandages down next to him. "You'll have to tell me the truth. That's really serious. You should call the hospital, it might need stitches."
He raises an eyebrow at her, "Who says I work in town?" He asks. Antoine hisses before taking some of the bandages around his waist. "I'll be fine. No biggie." He waves his hand. "Trust me, the hospital is the last place I wanna go." He mutters, shaking his head. "Besides, I've had worse injuries." Antoine nods in thanks.
Marlene looks at him. Something's not right about his response. And why not the hospital? She sighs.
"Anything else I can get you?"
"Uh… not really? Maybe some water, but I think I'm good." He stretches a little before walking towards his dresser and slipping on a cleaner shirt. He walks with a slight limp as he returns to his bed.
Marlene watches him totter off. Something about him makes her unable to look away. She stands up.
"Takeout tonight, I guess?"
"Yeah. Go ahead and order what you want. I'll just have a little of that." he says, grunting as he tries to get comfortable. Ren meows and Antoine sighs. "Go catch a mouse, Ren." He says tiredly.
