The theme of this roleplay is modern magic/mythology, meaning magical beasts/people (such as witches, satyrs, warlocks, dragons, angels etc.) characters and just regular non-magic (not that that's bad! I have tons) characters only, no people with powers (for example: girl with water powers) allowed, sorry. I love this theme, because there are so many interesting concepts you can explore, like 'do short-sighted cyclopes have trouble finding glasses? What do aromantic sirens do in their free time? Where do pixies find clothes small enough to fit them?' If you'd like to join with a magical character but don't have any yet, you can just amke them up on the spot, I do that all the time, lol.

Here are the rules:

-Your character must be YOURS, not someone else's or from a book/movie/show etc.
-Only one main character who's POV you're writing from, but other than that, you can have other side characters/animals/familiars (although not too many please, that could get super chaotic)
-No hate/racist, sexist, homophobic/transphobic, or generally rude comments (unless part of the actual story and make sense, for example: a trans girl is walking down the hallway in her school and some bully shouts a very offensive comment at her)
-If someone makes a mistake, move past it, and as my idol, Elsa, likes to say: "The past is in the paaaaaaaaast!!!!!!"
-Absolutely NO LIMIT on what you do to or with your character, as long as you keep it appropriate (and please try not to swear), and no deciding what happens to other people's characters without their consent

Absolutely NO explicit/inapropriate scenes (you can say that a character was raped, just don't des, kissing between characters/shipping people's characters is allowed, as is violence, but no killing/wounding other people's characters without consent.

WARNING: I MAKE CORNY JOKES AND DESIGN BRUTAL DEATHS FOR MOST OF MY CHARACTERS, ALSO LOT'S OF BOOK REFERENCES ALL THE TIME.

I don't know how many people will join this because of the theme, but I can hope lol :D

@faechain

Yay - I love modern magic! Uh, I've never actually done a roleplay before but I'm so down to try this out. My character's name is Mick. He's a werewolf and is part of my crime syndicate/urban magic side project. He's bi and quite energetic but also very aggressive - he acts as a bodyguard to the head of the syndicate. He's of Spanish descent, but his parents kinda neglected him so he never ended up learning much Spanish? Which surprises a lot of people 'cause he really rocks that whole darker skin, dark hair, dark eyes thing, as well as having a slight Spanish accent which he picked up from his parents. That's all I can think of right now?

Kanoa Akamai
witch
5'6"
Female
asexual
Wears an off-the shoulder sweater that's too big for her and a big white poofy skirt on black leggings as well as sparkling red slippers and a huge black witch hat.
She buys cute little bottles from Hobby Lobby and Michael’s so that her potion cabinet will look cute. Her spell books are messy, thoughtless, scribbled in notebooks with like five different pen colors on one page because she kept losing her pen, ironically while writing a pen finding spell. She brews potions in her favorite brewing pot that she bought on Amazon. She has spells in the notes folder of her phone, and enchants her phone and wallet so she won’t lose them.

her familiar is a Golden Lion Tamarin

She has a scrambled train of thought and is always forgetting where she put stuff, but she's incredibly smart. She has a kind soul and helps out at hospitals with her healing potions, animal shelters, where she washes the pets (with the help of magic!), homeless shelters with clothes and a bit of magic for their entertainment, support groups for vampires and werewolfs that were turned young, she gets behind in her studies, but her friends help her out, Kanoa also works at her grandfather's healing remedies and potion shop.

@Lenered

I forgot! She has long wavy naturally bright white hair that reaches her knees, rainbow eyes, and incredibly pale skin.

@Lenered

I was thinking an bustling street market filled with vendors and magical items, where theft happens often and magic is in the air.

Great idea @Nerd! If everyone agrees, then sure! America, Canada, Europe, Asia, Africa, or Australia? Question: coul we possible include magically enhanced technology in here (for example: Eco-friendly computers that run on pixie dust, but are made using illegal pixie labor, so that there is a huge pix protest around the world plus global campaigns for free-trade computers and electronics).
Love the diversity in everyone's characters! Here's mine:

Lauriel is the faerie infant (or 'changeling')(just look up 'changeling' Irish mythology and don't click on the Wikipedia link, there's plenty of info) placed in a human child's crib as a replacement for them, while the human baby was stolen and whisked away to the faerie realm. Her 'parents', who are now harboring hate and malice towards faerie peoples, constantly abuse her and blame her for the fact that the other child they tried to have died in a miscarriage. Lauriel has blue-grey, slightly bumpy skin that shimmers in the light if the sun, and long, wavy mahogany locks of hair reaching to the middle of her back. She has magically enhanced heterochromia in her eyes, resulting in her irises colored a marbled mix of brown and lavender. Lauriel is quiet-spoken, with the most expressive eyes anyone's ever seen, and a vicious intelligence that she struggles not to let overwhelm her strong sense of compassion. She is 16 years old, and about 5'8'', with slim, muscled limbs (she's very agile). Lauriel believes in equality between magical and non-magical races, and her life's mission is to find her technical half-sister, the human baby she replaced.

Kanoa walked through the busy street market, her eyes searching desperately for some snapdragon extract for her latest potion. She kept her book open in front of her, using one of her spells to keep it in the air. Kanoa's long white hair had been pulled into a long braid and her backpack that she'd enchanted with a bottomless spell hung on her back. She could almost feel her professors staring at her, "Why didn't you finish your homework!" they'd say, but Kanoa had other things to do, when suddenly, someone stole her book right out of her hands. She stood there in shock and then yelled, "Stop, thief!"

@blue_topaz

lol)

Lauriel kept her chin up as she walked through the busy marketplace, her stride just sharp enough so that people would know to leave her alone, but relaxed enough so that she wouldn't attract more attention. She could feel the stares of passerby sinking into her skin, some just curious, but most uneasy and distrustful, or even malicious. Shaking her wings to dispel the tension, her gaze drifted from stand to stand as she marveled at the strange and wonderful items on sale.

All of a sudden, a cry split the air. "Stop, thief!". Her eyes snapped open and her pointed ears perked up as she tried to pinpoint the source of the sound. There. Lauriel took off, zigzagging nimbly between pedestrians in pursuit of the thief.

@Lenered

A sudden burst of wind blew Kanoa's hair into her face, and she fell backwards. Her bag toppled and everything inside of it fell out. Her broom, her ten other spellbooks, a mixed medley of potions, dried off sprigs of herbs, a glass vial filled with seemingly nothing, a bunch of potion books that Kanoa needed for class, (They'd costed quite a lot) and a Golden Lion Tamarin. Kanoa glared at her familiar, "Pauka! I thought I told you to stay home!"
