She threw out her hands, shrouding the guards around Cal with darkness and hoping it was enough. A bead of sweat trickled down her neck. She hadn’t done this in a long time.
Cal pushed away from the guards, but fell a large weight slam him onto the ground. He felt the stitches in his chest tear apart from the impact and started to crawl across the ground, hoping Nimue's darkness could keep up. Marya. Cal thought wildly as he looked around. Where was she?
"Marya! Get out of here!" He called out, hoping that she could hear him. She couldn't get caught.
Ailith was sneaking around killing off any guards that would block an easy escape.
“Abendrot!” The king barked from his protective circle. Kirin reacted, magic beginning to swirl around him, which began to reach for Cal.
Nimue’s eyes widened, knowing Kirin could take apart their entire operation right now. “No, don’t!” She screamed, the shadows falling away. The disoriented guards regrouped themselves as she struggled to pull it back over them, succeeding in a few wisps distracting and reaching for them.
The blue-haired man looked up st her, grey eyes wide and hesitant.
Please.
And briefly, he remembered seeing their memories. How they’d all lost their families and found a new one in each other.
How they’d been happy together, best friends to the end. Like he said. A new family.
And he couldn’t bring himself to do it.
Kirin reacted to the thoughts like a cornered animal, eyes flicking around and body tense. After a moment, he turned and sprinted for the forest, disappearing quickly.
Nimue’s shadows strengthened slightly as a few guards broke and followed Kirin, shouting and raising weapons.
She pulled them tighter, giving Cal time to crawl away.
She wondered if Kirin could hear her, wherever he had gone.
Thank you.
//perhaps I will kill him off…
^musing^
( Nooooooo )
(Hm, maybe I'll kill Cal off. * Evil laughter *)
Cal crawled towards the forest, clutching his chest and shivering as if there was this invisible, freezing wind. Blood already seeped through his tattered shirt as he looked around for Marya.
(I swear you evil people…)
//perhaps we should kill everyone off
I’m gonna make him get captured :P
Nimue let go of the shadows, collapsing to her knees inside the forest. After a moment of catching her breath, she ran to find Cal. “Cal?!” She whisper-shouted, before seeing him on the ground. She quickly knelt by him, face pale. “We havento grt out of here.”
Marya and Abasi rushed to Cal's aide, and he took off her illusion, making her revert to her normal self. "I fricking told you we'd come. You damn raspberry assnut." she touched his cheek, smiling.
Abasi groaned, "Should I leave? Is this one of those moments? Can I go back to gardening now?"
"Shut up, cornflower."
"That's a compliment, man."
“This wound has been reopened so many times,” Nimue said, eyes wide. “We have to get him out of here.”
"Okay." Marya hoisted Cal over her shoulder and started off. She'd just made it around the corner, when the king approached them.
“Oh no,” Nimue muttered. Two guards - the one from before who had been talking to Marya and one she didn’t recognize - walked by with a bound Kirin, who’s head was still held high.
More guards clustered around them.
“We are so screwed,” she continued, wings rising slightly.
Cal mumbled incoherent things as he leaned against Marya, his face paler.
"I know right?" she glanced at Abasi, who seemed to shrink back. Marya tightened her grip on Cal and backed away slowly, swinging her axe.
She hoisted her bow, not having any melee weapons besides a few of Spiderman’s greatest weakness - small knives.
"Let me fight. . ." Cal mumbled, his dark hair flopping onto his forehead as he leaned against Marya.
“No, you’re in no condition,” she said before Marya could respond.
/who’s playing the king
(me)
The king laughed and his eyes darkened. He looked directly at Marya. "Your friends seem to care a lot about you. I assume you care about them? Give yourself up. I will spare the others."
Marya snarled, ears twitching, "I won't believe that until you're dead on the floor with my axe sticking out of your damn ass."

Cal pushed himself away from Marya, standing up but steal leaning against her heavily. "Don't touch her. You can have me, not her." He answered to the king, his eyes darkened and dangerous.
“Cal,” she said, eyes trained on the king. She didn’t want to give up either of them, but she knew that Marya was in better condition. She hated it, having to cherry-pick between friends. She hated this stupid, stupid war tha forced hard decisions like this. She hated it.
The king guffawed. "I love it! The pain in your eyes! It makes this so worth it. Your father was like you, and I didn't like your father. Killing him wasn't enough. I want something that breaks your heart beyond the point of return."
"I'm not giving myself up." Marya growled.
The king shook his head. "Would you rather die, or have your friends die?"
"Suck my ass, you damn prick."

"Stop." Cal said stiffly, looking over at Nimue. He couldn't fight against the king or his friends if it came to that. "Not Marya. Please." Cal pleaded, his blue eyes wide as he looked at Nimue.

"Marya, don't go. Let me go instead." Cal pleaded, but he knew it was naive. He couldn't stop it. The king wanted Marya. He wanted to break Cal's heart, just like what happened to his father.
“Then I’ll go,” she said, staring right back. Every revolution has its martyrs. Her mother told her that once. In a book.
The king stopped. "No. I want her." he pointed at Marya. "Oh, and Kirin? I want you to be the one who kills her. Marya, if you don't come with me, I will kill everyone you love. Come."
Marya slowly let go of Cal, walking towards the king. "Kill me quickly, understand?" he nodded and chained her arms, laughing.
Kirin glared and stiffly said, “No.” He didn’t even blink twice or hesitate about his direct refusal. I don’t want to become a murderer.
“Marya…” Nimue whispered, hand slipping to the knife at her leg. Will the king really let us out this easy?
Cal watched silently, knowing that she couldn't do anything to help. No, no. Please. I love you, don't leave me. He felt his heart threaten to break into a million pieces. Now he knew what his father had felt for all those years after Cal's mother left.
