@rot-baby-rot!
Mercury jumped off the counter, shaking Venus's arm. "I need to meet her. Tomorrow you can introduce us! I can see if she's worthy of my baby sister."
Mercury jumped off the counter, shaking Venus's arm. "I need to meet her. Tomorrow you can introduce us! I can see if she's worthy of my baby sister."
Venus pulled her arm away from Mercury, "I'll see. Drop by the high school tomorrow once it's out."
"Maybe I will. Maybe I won't." He said, trying to mask his excitement. "So.. is that all that happened? You got a girlfriend, Kai has a new victim- oh sorry, I meant crush- and… that's it?"
Venus thought for a second, "And some other stuff, but yeah. The others can tell you."
"So what do we talk about now?" Mercury asked. "I can tell you guys stories from college,"
(Aw, yeah Mercury is very supportive. I bet Beau will open up at some point.)
"You have a girlfriend?" Beau asked, looking up towards Venus curiously as he fiddled with the hem of his sweater. "I mean, not that it's bad. That's…that's…that's really cool. It's amazing actually," he stammered, cursing himself from stuttering as he spoke, looking down at his hands quickly. If only talking to others came a bit more easily to him, he thought, letting out an exasperated sigh.
Venus chuckled a bit, "Yeah I do. Sorry I didn't tell you guys, by the way I like girls!"
"Could I meet her too?" Beau asked, glancing over at Mercury for a few moments before he met Venus' gaze again. Part of him was kind of curious to see what her girlfriend was like…especially if his whole family was being so accepting of it. Maybe you can tell them too? You're in middle school, after all, he thought, but quickly shook his head to himself. No. You can't. Wouldn't they think that you're weird?
Venus looked to her younger brother with a shy smile, her attention was turning bad, "Yeah sure. Maybe Mercury could pick you up and take you to the high school?"
"I can't believe we literally go to the same high school but I've never even seen her," Kai griped.
Venus chuckled, "We've been avoiding you at all costs. No offense Kai."
"Nice," he said, shaking his head with an overdramatic pout. "Really, really nice."
Venus winced a bit, "Sorry. I wasn't sure how anyone would react."
"Nah, it's okay," Kai said flippantly. He was kinda hurt she thought he couldn't keep a secret, but he got where she was coming from. "I mean, I mention a girl offhandedly and everyone started yelling about it. So I see what you're saying."
Venus looked to Mercury, "Yeah, makes me wonder why I brought Lily up at all."
"I'm being a protective older sibling!" Mercury defended.
"Well, do you have a boyfriend, Mercury?" Beau asked, wanting to change the subject at the sight of the 'older sibling fight' that seemed to be unraveling right in front of him. Part of him was also curious about what Mercury would say about liking someone…perhaps he could ask them about it later?
Mercury crossed his arms and tried to stop the blush fast-forming on his face. "Um…" He squeaked out, embarrassed. "No? Sort of? It's complicated?"
"Awww you have a crush," Kai teased.
"Mercury has a crush.~ Mercury has a crush.~" Venus sing songed.
Mercury crossed his arms and tried to stop the blush fast-forming on his face. "Um…" He squeaked out, embarrassed. "No? Sort of? It's complicated?"
"Two crushes now," Beau teased as well, jabbing a thumb towards Kai as a small laugh escaped him. The playful banter and Mercury's blushing had lightened the mood, though he quickly checked the clock. 1:00 p.m. Don't you have some studying to do with Finley around 1:30? he thought, trying to think of his schedule until it dawned on him that the other boy, and in this case his crush as well, would be coming over soon.
"Shoot…" Beau muttered, pushing himself up and running a hand through his hair in an attempt to fix it. He'd have 30 minutes to get ready, clean his room, and get the blush creeping onto his cheeks off. That's definitely not enough of time.
"Something wrong Beau?" Venus asked almost knowingly.
"Mercury has a crush.~ Mercury has a crush.~" Venus sing songed.
Mercury covered his face with his hands. "Shut up." He muttered, but it was more a weak plea than anything. He lifted his head and rubbed the back of his neck, a blush staining his cheeks. "We're not really dating? We kissed, but it was New Years so I don't really know if it counted, but we kissed again after that a couple days later, and we sort of-" he cleared his throat, "-Yeah. He knows I like him, and he likes me back, but… we're not dating."
"Something wrong Beau?" Venus asked almost knowingly.
"Uh, my…friend…Finley is coming over to study and I need to get ready," Beau explained quickly, practically mashing words together to form completely different ones as he paused oddly on the word 'friend.' He began to step out of the room, motioning towards the stairs so they would know where he would be.
