"Kissing?" How could this not be complicated? It just seems to get more confusing as we go on… "But… I couldn't date anyone, could I? I mean, there's no way I'm old enough. I'm six! It's not like I could drive myself anywhere to do anything."
"It's simple, kid, you're over complicating it," Kai pointed out. "It's like best friends, but with kissing. There's no set age or anything."
Mercury tilted his head. “Kind of? Not every couple wants to kiss though. I’ve been in a relationship where we didn’t kiss at all.”
(my cousin had a "boyfriend" when she was six…had her first kiss this year and she's eight. she and her sister have very exciting love lives lol)
"I mean, you could," Kai mused, "but it doesn't mean you should."
"Kissing?" How could this not be complicated? It just seems to get more confusing as we go on… "But… I couldn't date anyone, could I? I mean, there's no way I'm old enough. I'm six! It's not like I could drive myself anywhere to do anything."
“There’s no pressure to date anyone. Some people never want to. Some people don’t like dating people. And you don’t have to go to anywhere important to go on a date. Sometimes couples just want to stay in.” Mercury said.
(I kissed a boy when I was somewhere between 2 and 4 and he goes to my school now so I kinda avoid him lol. i don't think he remembers it but my siblings won't ever let me forget)
(Cas wants his gift lmao)
"This is making my head hurt… how do people do this all the time?" Pluto rubbed his temple absently. "I find out that a date's not a fruit, and… I dunno what else even… do you just date people forever or what?"
(I’ve never kissed anyone in a place that wasn’t on the cheek and I’m not really in a rush to change that)
Mercury sighed. “Well, sometimes you do that. Other times, you might continue dating a specific person/persons your whole life. Sometimes couples get married. Sometimes they break up.”
(never kissed anyone either but mostly because i was v v sheltered)
Kai shrugged. "Seriously, don't overthink it. You don't have to worry about it if you don't want to. And like Merc said, no need for kissing. The girl I'm into doesn't like that type of stuff, but I don't care."
"Married? Like mum and dad? Is that why they wear rings all the time?"
(I kissed a boy when I was somewhere between 2 and 4 and he goes to my school now so I kinda avoid him lol. i don't think he remembers it but my siblings won't ever let me forget)
(I kissed a girl when I was 6 and she and I were best friends until she moved schools.)
“Yeah, sometimes couples decide that they love each other so much that they want to get married. Most of the time they’ll get rings to show that.” Mercury said. “And.. sometimes, when couples don’t love each other anymore, or they decide that they can’t be together anymore for whatever reason, they’ll break up. If the couple’s married, then they’ll get a divorce.”
"You should talk to Kai about it…I'm sure he has a specific girl in mind," Beau teased, looking up towards his older brother in an attempt to bother him. "Or Cas," he added, jabbing a thumb towards their other sibling.
Kai glared at him. "I –I do not!" He crossed his arms, slouching. "Even if I did, it's none of your business."
"No, I'm sure that you definitely have someone in mind, Kai. Who are they?" Beau teased in a sing-song tone, wanting to figure out who this 'mystery person' was. If there was even a person in the first place.
Mercury turned to Kai. “Wait, you have a crush on someone?” He asked, excitedly. “They’d probably be really impressed if you showed her your magic kit.”
Kai realized too late what he'd just admitted. He tried to play it off, running his hands through his hair. "It's not a huge deal, weirdos. And there's no way I'm showing her a magic trick. She already thinks I'm an idiot."
Venus laughed, "Awww little Kai has a crush."
Pluto wanted to ask more questions, but decided that he had already spoken enough that day and fell silent, watching the strange scene unfold before him.
"You actually have a crush!" Beau exclaimed, a wide grin on his face as he looked up towards his older brother in thought. "There's no way that she could think you're an idiot…you're…you're the most unidiotic person I know!" He added, fiddling with his hearing aid when he realized how much he had just stuttered.
Mercury turned back to Pluto. “Anything else you want to ask? I mean, if you need an example, when you were three and I was eighteen, I was dating this guy, Daniel. It turned out he was cheating on me and that he wasn’t really that great of a person, but I did love him for a while.”
"Wait, guys can date guys? I thought it was just a guy girl thing?" Pluto had thought he sort of understood dating, but this added a whole new layer of confusion.
(OMG THE SMOL BEAN MY HEART)
