They caught her and dragged her to one of the stakes. Riann froze, unsure of what to do. She looked down as the guards passed, hoping that they wouldn't see her blue eyes.

Becca winced in pain. "QUIET GIRL." One snarled. Oh boy. Here we go again.
On man held up his hand. "Hold on. I know you." He said to Becca. He gave a sinister smile. He took out a whip and struck her, but she made no sound. She refused to give him what he wanted.
Riann looked on, yelling at herself to do something. She glanced around, knowing that if she helped, her father would never forgive her. She shook the thought out of her head and focused on her power until she felt a strong tug in her chest.
Hayden silenced a yelp that almost sprang to her throat. Her own hair was covered, and she subtly slid some strands back in. “Ri… we can’t just stand here!” She whispered.
The guards seemed to be having a great time beating Becca. She was pretty sure that her collarbone was broken, but at least Beni was safe. Becca bit her lip, staying silent.
She nodded slightly, furrowing her brow as she tried to access her powers. After a few seconds, the entire morning sky went black, plunging the crowds into darkness. Monstrous shadows crept out of the corners of walls, sending crowds into mobs of screaming people.
Hayden’s hands lit up slightly, and a few bolts of lightning struck the ground. They didn’t hit anyone, but along with the Riann’s darkness, was a good intimidation tactic.
The shadows morphed into huge creatures from the Underworld. She tried to place smaller ones near the children, hoping that she wasn't going to scare them. Riann began to walk towards the stake, approaching one of the inquisitors.
She followed, lightning still striking the ground in random places.
Becca tried to stand up, but couldn't. Stupid knee. She thought. Then again, she was hurting all over right now.
"Let her go. Now." She said, deathly calm. Her blue eyes flashed different shades as lightning struck the ground. The ghostly shadow of a pack of wolves stood behind Riann and Hayden, snarling at the Inquisitor. The guard nodded quickly and left Becca.
Beni flew out of Becca's pocket and grew to the size of a horse.
Hayden hurried over and helped Becca up. “Can you walk?” She asked. Her hood had fallen at one point, but it was pretty obvious she was marked at this point.
Riann rushed towards Becca, the sky still dark. She helped her up and walked her towards the horse next to them.
Becca numbly let Riann lead her to Beni. Beni lowered herself, putting her wings down so all three girls could climb on.
Hayden hesitated, then climbed on.
She slipped on next to Hayden, releasing some of the shadows. The crowds were running in all directions trying to avoid the shadow wolves and creatures.
Beni gave a soft whine as the girls got on, then took of into the air, flying them away from the village and the stakes, to the place she had been told to take Becca if ever there was a situation like this, the forest.
To be dramatic, Hayden let a final, huge burst of lightning set the stake on fire. She slumped a little, tired.
The wave of darkness disappeared and Riann gasped from the energy it had taken from her.
Becca was slumped on Beni's neck. Beni trumpeted anxiously.
//so we’re pretending that her is with them

“You good?” Hayden asked.
(Hayden asked who?)
