"It's nothing." Riann replied, shaking her head. The strand of white in her dark hair glowed in the light as she continued to walk down the halls with Thatcher. "Just thinking out loud."
"It's nothing." Riann replied, shaking her head. The strand of white in her dark hair glowed in the light as she continued to walk down the halls with Thatcher. "Just thinking out loud."
“Alright, ma’am,” Thatcher responded, following her through the different halls. He wondered what she would have him do. He rarely got this far in his ‘work’.
"You can call me Riann. Ma'am seems a little too formal to me." She said, glancing at him. "What do you usually work with?"
Thatcher nodded, giving Rainn a polite smile. “I tend to do anything. I’ve been told to do things like clean, tend to a garden, or run errands in the town. Anything that gets me a little bit of money, at least,” he explained.
(How should Riann leave the palace exactly. I was thinking she would start her own rebellion with Hayden and Thatcher maybe, like the Daggers. )
"Well, you can start in the garden if you'd like to." She explained, motioning towards it. "After I'm heading down towards the town."
(They could hear of an execution that would be happening soon and try to stop it?)
Thatcher nodded. “Great, I will get started on that. And if you need me to, I can help you in town,” he suggested. He had a feeling that he may have been overstepping his boundaries, but then again, he needed all the money he could get. It was hard to tell because of his layers of clothing, but he was starving most of the time.
"Yes, that'd be great." She smiled, her blue eyes shifting shades. "The gardener is out there. He can show you what to do."
(Becca is part of the resistance and maybe she can meet Riann in the town??)
“Okay, thank you,” Thatcher responded. He noticed the shift in her eye color. He found hers to be much more interesting. His were just black, and it left no white in his eyes, just straight black. He stepped past her and went outside to talk to the gardener.
( yeah, that sounds good )
After that, Riann continued to walk down the halls. Her older brother, Aylo, ran up to her, his blond hair glowing in the sunlight. They had often been compared to the sun and the moon. Riann's dark hair and his blond one.
"Who was that?" Aylo asked, readjusting his grip on his sword. He carried it everywhere.
"A boy." She replied.
"I noticed it was a boy. But, a marked one." He said, watching Thatcher leave.
Riann frowned. Aylo had never accepted Riann's markings. Even at a young age, they would play games with his friends. Riann always played the marked enemy and they would all chase after her.
Becca walked down the streets, hood up to hide her hair, Beni hiding as the size of a mouse in her sleeve.
Thatcher chatted with the gardener, a friendly smile on his face. The gardener gave him a few instructions and Thatcher nodded, jogging to a small shed to grab a few tools.
She didn't answer, looking down at her hands. Aylo continued to talk.
"He's marked, Riann." He started, his voice cold. "We don't need another one of. . ." He stopped. She knew what he was going to say. Another one of you.
"I don't care what he is, Aylo." Riann replied, looking up. Her blue eyes were icy and cold.
"Father won't approve." He answered, adjusting the grip on his sword. "And you of all people should know what happens to the marked when Father finds them."
Riann glared at him, then turned around and began to walk down the halls again.
Thatcher carried back a few gardening tools, giving the gardener the one he had asked for. He crouched down, helping the gardener first pull weeds.
Riann made it to a small arena area next to the garden. Some nobles were bustling around. She walked towards one of the racks and grabbed her sword. It was silver blade with a black hilt, that had swirls of white on it. She approached a dummy and began to practice. Each of her hits were exact. Almost too perfect.
The gardener question Thatcher on why he wasn’t taking his expensive looking gloves off. Thatcher simply shrugged in response and continued on his job. It would have been a great shock if he began working barehanded and the grass/flowers began to shrivel and die.
Riann stabbed her sword into the dummy, some nobles and ladies stopping and watching her in surprise. Not many girls could fight, so it surprised some. She looked over from her spot and saw Thatcher working in the garden.
Once Thatcher finished with the weeds, he stood and wiped his gloves clean on a cloth. The gardener gave him a few more instructions and he nodded, taking up a rake and heading toward the other side of the guarded to rake up a small area of leaves.
She shook her head and turned around, pulling her sword out. Riann continued to practice, her blue eyes taking on a darker shade. Some swirls of darkness crept out and shadows ran around the garden past Thatcher and the gardener.
Hayden stood to the side, watching Riann carefully.
//I cant come up with a legitimate reason for her to be here so I guess I can continue the whole bodyguard idea
( Yeah, if you'd like to. She'd probably be Riann's closest friend too )
( Oh I changed her powers. She can control darkness/shadows and make things out of them. She aligns with fear if you guys want to do alignments )
As Thatcher worked, his noticed things moving out of the corner of his eyes. He glanced over toward the movement at a patch of shadow. Are those moving?, he thought. He leaned the rake up against the tree for a moment, slowly approaching the patch, his gloved hand reaching out to touch one of strange tendrils.
(Tell me when Zack is needed, I’ll throw him in.)
