Tool
Tool seemed grateful as it headed back to its cell, probably to put Rufus the Cactus in Tool's display case, or 'abode.'
Anton
Anton decided to walk to where Camilla was. While it wasn't really his job to deal with this stuff, nothing told him he couldn't observe, at the very least.
Harley glanced over at Anton. Seems he was curious too.
"Looks like a good specimen."
Aurelia sits at her new desk, looking at paperwork on a few anomalies. She skims through the pages eagerly, absorbing information like a sponge. Standing, she picks up the papers and returns them to their respective files.
Aurelia pushes in the chair, and begins walking down the hall to her first stop.
Anton
Anton nodded, though added, "I'll reserve proper judgement for later."
Nevid
The slime had almost completely escaped the glass box but for a few droplets. Now second order of business; get out of the room. Of course, there was still consumable matter; which meant the security cameras. Moving itself to the corners of the room, the camera sat above it. In a manner similar to a snake striking out at its prey, the slime shot out at the camera, which immediately lost connection as the slime pulled back, taking the camera with it as it began to absorb the camera.
"Yes. Testing will be needed." Harley tried to cross her arms, but it was impossible as she held the cactus in her arm. Sighing, she gave up.
Melvin decided to check in on Xenia before going to see the new Anomaly. She seemed pretty scared, and he also had to donate some cacti. He opened the door to her cell and waved. "Hello there! How are you doing today?" He asked.
*
Ghost squeezed his eyes shut when he heard the screaming, not that it helped much. The screaming was loud, sending jagged, blood red slash marks cut through their vision, even though their eyes were closed. They'd have covered their ears, but their arms were still immobile from Callaghan's earlier test. This was going to be a swell day, Ghost could already tell.
Xenia looks at Melvin and waves. She gives a thumbs up to the question, and points at the cacti. "What's that?"
Willow suddenly stopped typing as her cell door flung open. A guard about 20 in age informed her she had an hour outside her cell. Willow didn't respond but instead curled up in the corner of her bed, furthest away from the door. When the guard left her cell, she warily slid off her cot and tip-toed to the door. She peeked out, looking both directions making sure the hallway was empty.
Willow just wandered the hallways when she was aloud out of her cell. She enjoyed looking at all the anomalies. It didn't make her feel as alone. She knew that she could feel comfortable around the other anomalies. Her favorite was of course, 049. She enjoyed visiting them and just listening to the few words they could speak.
049 sat quietly in its room, holding its doll in its hands.
The beast started to move, all cameras constantly watching its every movement. It knew this, it was annoying. No matter how many times it tried to freeze the electronics, the hairless ones would always find a way to fix the frozen over cameras. It continued to walk around the perimeters of the giant room that contained it. It seemed to always do its 'checks', testing areas of its room, looking for possible weak points. So far though, it had no luck…except those doors.
All heads seemed to lift, hidden gaze looking straight towards the giant door, then the smaller one beside it. Possible weak points…or ways to escape. Feeding time…it was getting close…hunger starting to grow once again as it always did. There was a reason it was called the 'Devourer'. It seemed to eat anything and anyone, so long as it was moving. Inanimate objects, it had no taste in, but it would tear through such things to get to living things.
A deep and constant rumble seemed to constantly emit from the beast. It's roars before had deafened unlucky hairless ones if they had gotten too close. A stun tactic, then pair that with impending impalement by icicles, it was an efficient way to hunt and kill. It stood on the opposite side of the room, facing directly towards the smaller door. It would be opening soon…food or escape…decisions, decisions…
Its giant middle jaws trembled, starting to open. Frost escaped the gaping maw, ice forming upon parts of its body. It pawed the ground with one of its legs, claws clacking hard against floor, getting ready…waiting…
As soon as the barely audible sound of a hinge moving, the giant creature moved with surprising speed. Though it was still a lumbering hulk…
It swung its giant head down, ramming full force into the smaller door…only managing to put a small dent in it before any food could've been released. The Devourer stood back up, after having thrown its heavy body. It slammed both its legs into the floor, releasing an enraged roar that echoed throughout its room and down the halls.
One could only pray that its anger wouldn't grow any further…when the Devourer was enraged…nothing and no one was safe…
Willow finally found 049's cell and entered in. The door was always unlocked, Willow knew this. She closed the door behind her and relaxed, she knew that the humans were watching through their camera's, but Willow didn't mind. At least, they weren't in the cell.
Willow gave a friendly smile at 049 and stood next to him, observing the doll that was cradled in his hands.
Julius' ears flicked at the sound of movement beyond the wall. A patch of peonies in the wall field moved, the camouflaged door opened, and in walked her human buddy. She could always tell it was him by the time he reached that door.
"Hello, Julius."
She growled lowly, a sound the man could hear even from the other side of the room.
"Okay, right, I'm sorry." Cecil made his way to the small pond, Fox bounding out of the den and across the room to greet the human. "Hello to you too, Fox." Cecil said, and he would've reach down to pet the animal or scoop him up had his hands not been occupied by the box-shaped machine he was wheeling in. He stopped next to the pond, then crouched down to say hello to Fox.
"Water?" Julius asked simply, making her way over from the rock she had been resting on. "Fish." Cecil replied. He pressed a button on the side of the small machine, and it whirred quietly as it tilted, emptying about ten fish into the water. It wasn't a very big pond, just big enough for the anomaly to swim in if she wanted, but it could hold plenty of fish for her to catch or play around with. "Thank you." Julius nudged Cecil's head with her nose, and he patted her fluffy cheek. "You're very welcome, Jewel."
Julius suddenly perked up at the sound of thundering roar, glancing around worriedly and covering her ears with her front arms. What in the name of the Moon was that!? Fox yelped, shaking in fear as he hid between her large middle paws. Cecil pulled the tipped box back to its stand, staring wide-eyed through the large window - the only window - in the cell. "Oh dear."
Vey, was getting bored. In all the months she's been here she hadn't made a single friend, and was starting to worry she never would. Although she was thankful for Uriah, since she was never alone. All she wanted was a friend her age. Even if she didn't know how old she was. "I'm bored. Let's play a game. How about hide and seek?" Uriah sighed at her suggestion. No matter how many times he told her, she always wanted to play it. "You know we can't play that. What if you have an attack?" Vey puffed her cheeks and say on the ground. "Fine. We can just sit here till something interesting happens."
Nevid
The camera had been fully dissolved when Nevid detected vibrations in the floor. Months, maybe even years of being in this building had led to Nevid knowing the patterns of many vibrations. These were clearly footsteps. Nevid slinked across the floor to the door, waiting for it to open. The door whirred; then proceeded to open up, as someone entered the cell.
The person looked around then called out something onto a radio - of course, Nevid didn’t know these words nor know it was a radio. “Can the slime turn invisible or something? I can’t see it..”
But at the first sign of noise, Nevid launched out at the human being. While fairly small, Nevid hoped to keep it this way until it figured something out, however it could not have any witnesses. So Nevid settled on consuming half of the being. That would kill it for sure. The human struggled and yelled out, but its efforts would be in vain.
The door beeped. It was going to automatically close.
Nevid finished its task and slipped out of the doorway, slightly larger than before. Immediately, it slithered towards the vents, where it moved between the slots of the grating, and into the dark unknown of the vents. The slime was not in a hurry, it did not know this place at all. Not one bit. So it had to go, where it could consume.
Anton
Anton heard something in his radio. He listened in, awaiting the replies. Listening. He seemed to be alert. Finally, he took out his own radio and spoke into it, ”I’ll try and find it. Reinforcements are not needed, but are appreciated.” He looked around, before exiting the room. “Got a job to tend to.”
"This is a cactus," Melvin explained, "They're a kind of plant that lives in the desert, usually, and they're adorable! Would you like one?" He offered out the two pots that were left, Calliope and Thomas, so Xenia could see.
049
"Friend." It patted the ground next to it, glad Willow had come. It knew she didn't have many she wished to interact with, and felt honored it was one.
Julius started pacing in front of the window, with Fox following her circles. Cecil pushed the machine out of the room, then returned with a bucket full of fruit, which he emptied onto the dirt patch next to the pond. "Are you okay, Jewel?" He asked, glancing at the anomaly. She huffed in a half-hearted response, and Fox copied her.
Cecil sighed as he carried the empty bucket away. Julius stopped for a moment, narrowing her eyes at the door. Cecil had no reason to close it, other than keeping Fox from getting out, but Julius was too big to fit through that doorway. She had tried - multiple times - but it was like her only escape was just constantly there, within reach yet so far away. It was irritating.
Cecil came back, this time with a blue bag, where she could smell food from. He raised his brow at her, motioning to the fruit pile, and she returned the look with a cat-like smile, she and Fox making their way across the room.
Willow smiled at the friendly giant, showing off her dainty little dimples. Since Willow was only about four feet in height, 049 towered over her. She gladly sat next to it. It took her a while to finally ask something. "Who gave you the doll?" Willow asked. 049 showed her most of the dolls it had, this one Willow hadn't seen before.
"Harley." 049 smiled. It enjoyed Harley's gifts; she was one of the one scientists who were actually nice. It held the doll out for Willow to see.
Willow examined the doll. It wasn't the prettiest sight, but wasn't terrible. "It's nice," Willow complemented it. "Is Harley a friend?" Willow asked curiously. She had never met Harley before and was curious of what 049 thought about her.
049 nodded.
"Good." It smiled. Yes, Harley was good.
"Scientist."
(ooohh the 'was'….)
Willow nodded a little. She wondered if maybe Harley was really just being a "friend" to study 049. To gain it's trust to experiment with it…like all wretched humans. She worried a little for her friend. "So, you like Harley, huh?" Willow asked.
049 nodded.
"Kind. Different." 049 seemed to laugh at itself; calling a human kind was something it did rarely.
"Sure!" Xenia takes Thomas, and looks for a place to put them.
