(word. Reed did you have something in mind?)
(Sorry for not responding sooner, I'm sick. I'll take care of it.)
Duality sighed and stood up. "Now onto the worse news. Someone who is not one of our gods, have been infliciting mortals. Usally I would shut it down quickly, but I am unable to find the source."
Diara raised his eyebrows. "What have they been doing?"
Avalon looked up from the small illusions she had been forming between her hands. "What? How?"
"I'm not sure, that's the thing. I can sense that it's happening, I just can't sense what it is."
Kos tipped his head slightly, frowning. He said nothing, a thin tendril of shadow playing through his fingers.
"Well, we should probably find out what's happening since we don't know how bad it is," Diara suggested, the corners of his lips quirking down.
(Reed I hope you get better soon!)
"Do you at least know where the problems are?" Ashley asked, twiddling with her hair.
"Some stuff in Russia and Germany, but the main problem is in D.C. It seems the source only wants to affect political choices."
"…That actually explains a lot." Avalon said, smiling slightly. "Really, the curses and binding spells that have been sent that way…"
Kos chuckled. "A den of thieves and murderers, who do their business in the dark. That makes sense." He said softly. He always seemed to speak quietly, as if he didn't want to attract undue attention.
Diara tapped his chin in thought. "Maybe we should go over there and check it out," he proposed.
Thea arched a brow at the news. She had been drawn more and more to DC lately. Wandering around the streets trying to find whatever had drawn her there with no luck. It was like an itch she couldn't scratch. To say that her presence had caused a little skirmish here and there would be an understatement. War was brewing and like hell she was going to miss it.
"Maybe…" Ashley trailed off, subconsciously repeating a variation of Diara's words.
"So we go to these places?" Xia asked. "We poke around, try to find what is influencing the mortals? Do we all go?" This was new territory. Xia hardly ever interacted with mortals. She was the whispering wind, the snow, the rain. Not a face or a form. But perhaps now she would be.
"I'm… I'm not sure. Maybe we observe and a few go interact." Duality looked ashamed that they were saying this. "I don't know."
Thea scoffed, throwing her hands in the air. "You don't know? How is that possible? We either have a threat that we beat into the dirt or not. Which is it?" Her hands came down with a smack on the table. They couldn't just sit around and observe like the old gods once did. That would only cause more issues that she really did not want to deal with. A fight to the death would be the easiest way to solve any issue.
"Calm down, Thea." Avalon said, looking over at her. "I understand where you're coming from. But we aren't even sure what this is, never mind if beating it into the dirt, as you put it, would work. And you can't just do that to a random entity. We need to be sure we have this right." She spoke calmly, though her odd stiffness probably gave away her nerves.
Xia glared at Thea. "Things are not so black and white. The only options are not 'kill or do not kill'. Not everything can be beaten into the dirt. You, out of all of us should know that's not how you win a war. We need a strategy."
Thea pursed her lips tightly, choosing to remain quiet instead of saying that beating something into the dirt was a strategy and usually the first one most went with. Thea included. Sighing, she relaxed back into her chair. "Well. What did we have in mind? Reconnaissance until we know what we are dealing with?"
Kos looked around the group, remaining silent. He listened, filing away the information.
Diara held up his hand. "I spend a lot of time with humans. If we are to go to DC then we can't all just barge in." He remembered his last trip to the US. There were so many differing opinions it hurt his head. "An appearance of the most powerful gods in that nation's capital could cause a panic. I believe it would be better if a small group went down and kept a low profile or gave their best attempt to remain unseen."
"I'll go." Avalon volunteered. "I look you enough to get info from younger people, and raise no suspicions from older people."
"I can go." Kos spoke up for only the third time since they had begun, his voice soft and unassuming. "They have not had much contact with me, and do not know what I look like. I can disguise my hair so that it doesn't look like the night sky, if need be." He finished. That was, perhaps, the longest thing he had ever said to the other gods.
