(Okay, cool.)

"Anyone between 14 and 19 who would like to enter the Games please put your name and district on a piece of paper and put it in this jar, please," said an old Earth woman, holding out a clay jar. Ara scribbled her name down and went to go sit down.

Era-Lee nervously put the folded piece of paper with her name on it into the jar and hurried to sit down next to Jenson, ducking her head slightly so that no one noticed her.

Caya and Brix looked evenly at each other and dropped their in at the same time.
"To fate," Brix said quietly and Caya nodded.

Peipe bit her lip. Killian had signed up to, and tons of other fire district girls were signing up. She shuffled forward shyly and put her paper in.

Piro's nails dug into his palms as he walked up. He etched his name and district on a piece of paper, resisted the temptation to wad it up, and dropped it in the jar. He forced his fingers to uncurl as he sank back down to his seat.
Diren scanned the other competitors tensely, writing his name and putting it in the jar without looking. He focused on his feet and slipped back to his chair.

After everyone who wanted to put their names in the jar, the Earth woman held up a hand for silence. "I will now be picking the names of the people who are entering."
"How does she know to pick a girl and a boy from each district if all of them are in the same jar?" Jenson whispered.

Peipe bit her lip and shifted nervously. Time to see how much of an idiot she was.

"What if I'm picked?" she whispered worriedly, suddenly terrified of her choice.

@PrettyLittlePyro

Ara rolled her shoulders and stood relaxed. Please let me get picked, she thought.

"The Air District members are Caya and Brix."

Era-Lee chewed her fingernails nervously. "I don't know."

@Bandito

Dreading. Hoping. Diren stared fiercely at his shaking hands. If he was picked, would he scream? Would he smile? Would he cry? Did it matter?

Piro crosses his legs and leaned back. If he was picked, there would be no more blood and gore. It was still hard for him to imagine. He knew his life wasn't normal, but all he knew about normal itself was that you didn't have to hurt people. That was all he needed. If he was picked they would finally just leave him alone. If he didn't get picked, he didn't know. Maybe he'd become a soulless robot. Maybe he'd get beaten to death. Maybe they'd go away when he was old and gray and didn't care if they did anymore. Maybe he'd turn into the very monster he was afraid of.
