"Okay,' Cicada lifted her hands up, "So what about your background?"
"Okay,' Cicada lifted her hands up, "So what about your background?"
"I thought I already said." the teddy-bear smelled like smoke and cinnamon.
"I'll give you that," Cicada thought for a second, "What gang? That's all I'm going to ask."
"A gang." the teddy-bear was soft, beckoning him to hug it tighter.
"I just told you my entire life story," Cicada responded, "Can you please answer this one simple question?"
Kameo's sliver and blue eyes darkened. "No."
"Okay," Cicada backed off. She pulled her notebook back out and began to draw again, "It was the Crygs wasn't it?"
His pulse quickened. "No. It was the Dalens." the Dalens were a smaller, weaker gang. It was a believable lie.
"Uh huh," Cicada kept drawing.
She believed him. Kameo gave a sigh of relief and pulled Mr. Mcstuffy closer to his chest. "I love you." he whispered to it.
Cicada never really thought about what she was drawing, she just did it. As she looked at her paper the picture had a strong resemblance to James. She smiled and finished her work.
Mr. Mcstuffy seemed to nod back.
Cicada also doubted it was the Dalens. If it was them he would have told her right away. Instead he avoided the question and answered only when presented with the truth. Cicada knew how the mind worked.
Kameo had a friend in the Dalens. Marya. She became the leader when she was 8, and she turned the Dalens into the second largest, baddest gang in the city after one year. She left though, and the Dalens went back to their pitiful state, with Marya never to be seen again.
Cicada had run in with the Dalens multiple times in the past. Never at their highest point, but more when they were weaker. She never had seen Kameo there.
"I was kept in the back." Kameo said, almost like he was reading her thoughts. "They didn't want a Kalmine at front lines. We're apparently just sexy dancers that are high-spirited and total liars."
"Okay," Cicada looked up at him.
Kameo nodded, satisfied in his lying abilties.
"So you feeling better?" Cicada asked him.
"What do you mean by that?"
Cicada rolled her eyes, "Should I have saved you?"
No. "Yes."
"Are you positive?"
No way. "Definitely."
"Fine," Cicada got up, "I'll leave you be for now, but I'm coming back later and if I find out that you hurt yourself in any way. I am going to tell the rest of the crew. Got it?"
