Cicada looked up to see Kameo fidgeting around, "Something up?"
"Nope." he leaned back on the bed.
"Okay," Cicada put her lighter away. She pulled out her notebook and began to draw.
"Why are you drawing in a notebook? You should get a sketchbook."
"Because I write in here too," Cicada responded, "I'm not bothered enough to buy a notebook AND a sketchbook."
"Who said buy? I could steal it." Kameo braided a section of his hair.
"That's what I mean by buy," Cicada shook her head, "I always get the two mixed up."
He flipped the braid back, "Same."
Lucian tapped his foot on the floor, in thought. He expected that when Kam did find the file that he had left, he would take all of the papers and photos out before throwing the cover back in his face. He exhaled sharply, rubbing at one of his temples.
"You used to be a thief?" Cicada asked him. She knew that pirates were notorious for stealing, well most of them at least, but most knew the difference.
"Yeah. It's hard to pay for stuff when you don't have a job. I was small, quick, I could steal anything."
"Did you know your family?" Cicada asked him. She didn't want to know Kameo just as the sad crazy drunk.
(Who's Kim)
(He meant Kam.)
Kameo nodded, "I had to leave. My home….it wasn't the best place to be since my mother died."
(He meant Kam.)
(Now I feel stupid.)
(Ah, yeah, it keeps auto correcting to Kim)
"Oh," Cicada went quiet, "What did you do before you joined the crew?"
"I was on the streets? Well, I can't really say that. More like part of a gang."
"Which gang?" Cicada was getting curious.
"A gang." Kameo brushed it off. "Wasn't my decision really. My dad found me and…."
"So your dad lead a gang and forced you to be apart of it?" Cicada asked, "I'm not judging by the way. I used to know an ex gang member."
"It's hard to get out of a gang. It's hard to realize your dad isn't some great hero you looked up to when you were little. It's hard to watch your mom die."
"I'm sorry," Cicada felt as if those words needed to be said. Despite how little they sometimes could mean.
