( I'm honestly waiting to hear what Cicada says too )
( I'm honestly waiting to hear what Cicada says too )
Cicada climbed down from the crows nest to give the two of them some space. Why did they choose then to be all lovey dovey?
( Ah, yes. I can change it up to a different group. )
(Oh no, I like that idea! Keep them.)
( K )
( I thought you were going to say something hilarious lmao @ShadeStar )
Kameo sat on the deck, cradling Ace's ashes. One day, I'll join you…
(Cicada knows when to back off. As long as it ain't directed at her.)
Leah nodded and smiled, looking towards the water instead of the sun. She looked down at the small gondola boats intently as they traveled across the ocean, specks of color against the sea green water. Ever since she was little she had always loved seeing them.
Kameo sat on the deck, cradling Ace's ashes. One day, I'll join you…
( No Kam-Kam, don't leave us )
Kameo walked over to Captain, holding Ace's urn. "I got him uh…cremated..and stuff."
Leah pushed herself off the ledge and looked down at the urn, nodding mutely. She glanced up at Kameo. "We'll be there in about a day . . does that sound alright?"
"Uh yeah, I guess." he murmured, looking at the floor.
"He'll be really grateful that he's with all his family again." Leah said, finally speaking up.
"Mhm." Kameo pushed a lock of hair back, "His family was murdered. His whole village was murdered. He lived alone for years until he got onto this crew, only to fake die for two years and then get murdered just like the rest of his family. Murdered by the plague." his eyes darkened and tears spilled out, "Do you know his last words to me Captain?! He said, 'I don't want to die', and he died anyway! I failed him.." Kameo slumped onto the floor, sobbing.
Leah kneeled down next to Kameo and pulled him into a hug. "I know what it's like." She murmured. Her fifteen year old brother had told Leah that. She was ten, but she still remembered it like it was yesterday.
"Leah, I don't want to die. I want one more day with everyone. I want one more minute. Just one more." George had told her. She couldn't save him either.
Kameo sobbed into her arms. "I watched him die twice! And each time… I was helpless. I couldn't save him."
"I'm so sorry, Kameo. . ." Leah murmured. "He knew that you loved him and that he loved you too."
"Love is so fake. They tell us love wins over all and it never does. Look where love took Ace now." he sat up and wiped away his tears. "I'm sorry, Captain. I don't like crying like this."
Leah nodded mutely and looked down at her hands. Kameo was right. Love was fake. Her brothers had tried to save her and they died. She could only imagine what would happen to Cicada and Daso. Everything she loved got hurt. Maybe it was better to let them go before it happened.
(If Kameo was in a town right now, he'd be in a tavern, gambling and drunk)
(it's what he does)
Daso approached the two of them quietly. His eyes were sad. "You're right. Love sometimes seems like it's not winning," he began, sitting next to them and leaning his back against the side of the boat. "But to experience love –even if pain follows after…it's worth it. To me. I don't regret loving anyone. Even if they leave. It was better to have loved them and lost them, then to have never loved at all."
"Maybe for you." Kameo said, slowly standing up, "I would rather not have loved Ace at all."
(If Kameo was in a town right now, he'd be in a tavern, gambling and drunk)
(it's what he does)
( Yeah, that's why Leah has a drinking problem )
"Do you mean that, though? Think back." Daso's gaze lowered to the bottom of the boat. "Wasn't it amazing, just to know him? To talk to him and understand him?"
"You don't really mean that. . . do you?" Leah asked, looking up at Kameo.
"It wasn't amazing to watch him die twice." he tied his hair back, wiping his tears from his cheeks.
