(Yeah, fell through a glass door.)
She laughs softly and types her address into his phone. "Ohh…that makes more sense than where I was going," she says. Before handing him back his phone she quickly opens his contacts and adds her number, hoping he doesn't notice. "Thank you," she says, handing it back to him.
(Ouch.!)
"You're welcome." He pockets his phone and tries not to look awkward. "Well, see you tomorrow then?"
(Tell me about it XD)
"Yeah, see you tomorrow," she says. She waves slightly and starts to walk down the street towards her house. Thoughts flooding her mind.
Corban watching her for a moment, then decides whether or not to go in. It's decided for him when, from the house he hears his mother not-so-gently calling his name, having seen him standing out front doing nothing. "Corban, get yourself in here, now." He goes to her right away, unconsciously lowering his shoulders as if shrinking inside himself.
Saffi walks for a while until she finally sees her street. "Thank God," she whispers under her breath. She walks up the steps and inside to her room, sitting on the edge of her bed, thinking.
"Mom?" But his mother doesn't respond seeing that he's inside. He follows her into the kitchen, not saying a word. A messy sandwich sits on a paper plate on the island counter. "Hurry up and eat," says his mom, starting to noisily wash the dishes. Corban swallows and sits down on a stool.
He picks up his sandwich, pausing a moment to say a quick silent prayer. He quietly eats the sandwich, the silence between him and his mother a painfully awkward one.
Sofia's mom yells at her from downstairs, finally home from work. She stands up quickly and kicks off her shoes, if her mom knew she didn't take them off she would kill her, and walks downstairs. Her mom sets bags of groceries on the table and starts putting them away. Sofia stood there for a moment, she was surprised. Her mom hardly brought home a lot of groceries anymore. She had gotten fired from her old job, and the new one hardly paid her. "Stop gawking and come help me, missy," her mom said, smiling. Sofia happily walked over and began to help.
Halfway through his sandwich Corban manages an even, "This is good, Mom."
She responds only with a low monotone, "Mhmm." And continues scrubbing at the plastic containers in the sink with a silent fury;
What did Dad say this time? is what he really wants to ask, but he fears that if he mentions his Dad right now quiet will be officially be banished from the house for the rest of the evening.
Augustine watched the people from her window, wanting to walk out and say something but not knowing what. They seemed friendly enough, but before she was able to work up the courage to approach them, they went their separate ways. Instead, she walked up to the boy's house and knocked quietly on the door.
Corban is just swallowing the last bite of his food when there is a soft knock at the door. He turns on the stool, stupidly staring at the door for a moment. "Can you get that?"
His mother's voice is tired, with just an edge of annoyance to it; she's trying.
He gets up and goes to the door, wiping any crumbs away before opening it. At the porch he sees a girl with dark hair spread through with oddly light highlights, and a familiar face. "Hello?"
(I'm so dumb XD I got my stitches out and not an hour later went zip lining)
Sofia looked at all the food, things she hadn't had for years. She smiled and finished putting it away, going to sit on the couch.
(please don't die lol
also sorry i was at work)
"Hey Corban." Augustine piped, glancing up at the boy. "What's up?"
Augustine. Graduated last year? Corban smiles at her. Corban, your mental health really needs to be tested; your memory just doesn't work. "Hey, Augustine."
"So… How's school? You guys still holding out?" Augustine had dropped out of high school and moved in with her cousin. "I've missed you all."
(I've got to go for now.)
"Holding on would be the correct term." Corban awkwardly scratches at the back of his neck. "But we're still living and breathing." He smiles genuinely. "We've missed you too, Augustine. How have you been?"
"Okay, I guess. I waitress down at Carrabba's now." (see yah!)
(also, when will the waves start?)
(I was thinking at school…but then again it might be interesting to do it at the party tonight…)
(lol if it was at school i'd have to like throw in Augustine somewhere random :P)
(Ummm they're all just kinda doing their own stuff till the party I dunno)
