Watching Barry, she gasped. "Lūthor!" Charmer, she exclaimed. She had seen elves like those in the tribe. She had never seen one so young though. "That is very cool.." she told him, though the word 'cool' felt strange on her tongue.
Watching Barry, she gasped. "Lūthor!" Charmer, she exclaimed. She had seen elves like those in the tribe. She had never seen one so young though. "That is very cool.." she told him, though the word 'cool' felt strange on her tongue.
Barry rubbed at the nape of his neck sheepishly. “Thanks. I just… i dunno, I experiment with magical inks a lot. I don’t have a lot of cool ones like that. Mostly they just move around on my skin or change colour.”
Aether was still in the park when something soft landed her shoulder. She jumped and fell off the bench, twisting around to see who or what touched her. Some type of bird was sitting on the bench, cocking its head at her. "Wha-what are you?" she asked, stuttering slightly.
“How do you do that?” Oliver asks and tilts his head, “what makes the ink magic?”
"Still cool…" Peony countered with a wave of her hand. "You are no human, yes?" She placed her head in her hands as she rested her elbows on the table. Learning about others was so cool. She would never have gotten this knowledge before, not with the tribe.
The skylark made a soft cooing sound and nuzzled Aether’s cheek gently, fluffing its wings and shifting feet.

Barry shrugged bashfully. “It’s just… spells and stuff. Add pixie dust to pale ink and it’ll shift colours and disappear at night. Leave it out in the moonlight and it’ll revert and do the opposite. It’s like….. potions. I dunno, it’s not a power, anyone can do it if you have the talent for it. My actual powers are weather manipulation, but weakly.” Turning to Peony, he nodded. “I’m a very small part elf. Like a sixth or something.”
Peony nodded. "Understood." she offered him a smile and a thumbs up. "It takes centuries in my land, for one to do what you just did." she clapped for him, knocking her water over in the process. With a sigh, she shook her head. You are clumsy, just like Papa said… she smiled, giving a soft laugh. Picking up the cup, she whispered. "Rinn-ha!" Slowly, the water reversed, back into her cup. She then set the cup to the side.
Oliver laughs, “I wish I could do that! You don’t know how many things I knock over on the daily!”
"Haha!" Peony laughed. "Oliver, trick works with water mostly. Other things are much harder…" She said with a shrug. She wanted to improve the skill, and excitement surged through her at the thought of that coming true, and then some.
Barry blinked, impressed. "I've never seen anyone execute a charm so easily. What language was the spell in? I have a bit of an interest in languages, I think it would be interesting to measure if the strength of a spell could vary on the language it was cast in…." He trailed off, embarrassed.
The skylark flew down to Aether's shoulder and nuzzled her cheek. She softly laughed. "Hiya, birdy." Aether lifted up and hand and gently petted the bird. "Aren't you sweet?" Something about this bird calmed the girl, and soon the tears were no longer dripping down her face.
The skylard trilled happily, nuzzling her cheek again.
Aether stood up and headed towards the school. The bird nuzzled her cheek again and trilled. "I'll have to face them eventually, I suppose." Aether sighed. She really didn't feel like explaining why she had an episode like this to the others.
The bird almost seemed to nod in agreement, flapping its wings and lifting off just enough so that it could perch on top of her head.
Aether laughed. "Let's go, little bird." She opened the doors, careful not to catch the bird on the top of the doorway. As she neared the doors, she grew nervous. What would they think? Slowly, she pushed the dining hall doors open with a creak.
Barry heard the doors open, along with the familiar call of his skylark, and turned his head to see Aether standing there nervously. He gave her an easy smile and waved her over.
Aether saw Barry wave over, so she slowly walked over there. With a quiet voice, she said, or more like whispered, "Hi,"
Oliver glances over, seeing her uneasy and uses his powers on the flowers on the table, making them release a relaxing aura
Barry smiled comfortingly, holding his forearm out to the skylark, which dissolved when it touched his skin and turned back into a tattoo. "Hi. Feeling better?"
Sym steps into the shaded park, plugging in his headphones and being thankful that he was alone. He started to play his music and at first, hum than sing along.
Peony gave Aether a close-eyed smile. "Glad you return!" she said. She watched at the brid returned to Barry's skin. She couldn't deny how interesting the ability was.
Aether smiled at Oliver, silently thanking him for the flowers. Then she turned to Barry, a smile still on her face. "Yes, um, thank you for the bird? Although, now that it's on your arm now, I am not too sure." Aether pointed at Barry's arm, where the tattoo now was.
Barry laughed warmly. "Magical tattoos.", he said by way of explanation. "And it's no problem."
Aether slid into the open seat where she was before and puckered her lips sourly. "I wish I had some magical tattoos."
Barry scratched at the nape of his neck. "I could give you the name of the tattoo artist I'm apprenticed under, then you could learn to tattoo yourself.", he offered, finishing off his food.
