Erikos grumbled a few curses before getting up. He walked into his room, changing into his swim trunks quickly before walking outside and diving into the river
The wendigo practically ripped the bears head from its body, throwing it aside with a snarl. It ripped into the stomach of the bear, coating it’s front in blood as it ate the insides of the large animal.
Erikos began to swim downstream, only the tips of his antlers protruding from the water’s surface. His eyes widened as the smell of blood began to waft towards him. He licked his lips, his second row of teeth sliding into place as he swam further down the river
The wendigo was finished with the bear, or what was left of it. It was already covered in blood, but the animal meat did barely anything to calm its hunger. It wanted the meet of a human or really any person.
Erikos drifted a bit further downstream, until he found the source of the blood. A Wendigo, Cyrus he assumed, had just finished ripping apart a bear. He licked his lips, making sure he was out of sight as he slowed to a stop
The wendigo sniffed at the air, catching the scent of something, but it couldn’t see it. Whatever it had smelled must be standing still. It growled, leaping back up onto a tree, latching on with its claws as it lept to another tree, making its way down the river.
Erikos’ eyes flicked up, watching the Wendigo hop further downstream. He dipped under the water, following it quickly towards the lake
The wendigo could smell others, but it was too starving to care. It lept down from the tree, hissing as it crept along the tree line.
Erikos trailed the Wendigo, frowning as they edged closer to the lake. Nami is going to kick my ass, he thought as they approached the mouth of the lake. As they did so someone stumbled through the bushes, looking worse for wear. A lost hiker, from the looks of it
The wendigo stopped when it noticed the hiker, leaping up into a tree. It crept closer to the unlucky human, moving almost silently through the trees. It gave a low growl before letting out a shrill screech and launching itself at the person.
Erikos’ eyes widened as the Wendigo launched itself at the hiker. The hiker let out a shrill screech, but before Cyrus could get to them he was knocked out of the air by another Wendigo. This one was enormous, covered in sprawling tattoos and looking more like a deer-headed man than a traditional wendigo
The wendigo tumbled to the side but was back on its feet quickly, staring down the other wendigo. It gave a hissing screech, telling the other creature to get out of its way in the wendigos language.
The larger wendigo said nothing, simply snarling before turning towards the river. It reached one enormous hand into the water, snatching Erikos out of it while he struggled. “H-Hey, Nami,” he said, giving a small wave at the large wendigo. The creature only snarled at him before tossing him into the claws of two smaller wendigos off to the side
The wendigo snarled loudly, a bit of recognition going through it when seeing Erikos, but it was gone almost as soon as it came. It gave a clicking noise, lips pulling back to show its sharp fangs as hunger clawed through its stomach.
Nami turned to him, baring her teeth as well. It told him to leave before grabbing the hiker out of the brush, biting his front half off while the smaller wendigos toyed with clawing and biting at Erikos
The wendigo snarled in a hostile manner, it being very stubborn. It was considered to be a younger wendigo even though it was over one throusand years old. It was still going to grow, which meant more hunger. And because Cyrus practically threw up everything that it ate, it was always desperate for a meal.
Nami reared up, rising to her full height of nearly 15 feet. She snarled at Cyrus before snatching the now bloody and bruised Erikos out of the others’ grasp. She chuckled him at Cyrus’ feet, telling him to eat him before gulping down the rest of the hiker
The wendigo snarled, watching the other warily for a moment before crouching down to sniff at Erikos. It grabbed Erikos in a clawed hand, giving a low growl of hunger.
Erikos writhed, growling as he did so. He looked up, his dark hair falling partially in his face as he snarled up at Cyrus. He turned back to Nami, barking something that sounded a lot like "fuck you" in wendigo at her before turning to do his best to slip out of Cyrus' grasp
Being that close to Erikos and catching a full whiff of his scent, the recognition hit him again, and the wendingo tossed Erikos to the ground with an angry growl. It took a few steps backwards, away from the other wendigo, snarling in warning as it did so.
Erikos hit the ground with a thud. He limped away as quickly as he could, jumping into the river with a splash while the other wendigos began to leave. Nami turned, making a sort of hissing roar in response before disappearing into the trees
The wendigo’s head snapped back to look at the river, snarling as it turned and bounded away. As it traveled through the woods, it stumbled across a camping site, one that was inhabited by a small family- a mother, a father, and a young child.
Erikos swam slowly through the river, obviously injured from the lopsided way he swam and the blood trailing him as he did so. The wendigos had all but shredded his backfins, and his tail and leg had several decent-sized lacerations. Unfortunately, that meant he wasn't going to be able to hide his form until he was healed
The wendigo stalked over to the tent, and suddenly ripped it open, the family screaming in horror. In a few short minutes, the family was slaughtered, one body seemingly impaled on a tree branch while the wendigo fed on another one of the bodies.
Erikos looked up at the sounds of screams, his one undamaged antler picking the sounds up with ease. His stomach rumbled. He was tempted to go see what he could scavenge from the bodies, but he knew he was too injured. So he swam back to the cabin, wincing as he made his way inside
