Lolita strained for her friends, but the doctors held her back. "Please," she begged. Without them, she'd probably turn invisible again.
Pietro speed-walked after Lolita, glaring at doctors who meekly suggested he leave. He motioned for Piper to follow.
//YOU CAN GET THIS ON A KINDLE
Piper ran after Pietro and grabbed his arm to keep him from doing anything brash, but still followed Lolita.
Pietro squirmed, But he couldn’t free himself from Piper’s grip. He grimaced and let her keep holding his elbow.
Lolita kept insisting to see her friends. Her fingers began to fade.
Pietro cursed and pushed through a few doctors, gripping Lolita’s hand and trying to pull it back into visibility. “You’re okay.”
"Pietro…" Lolita sounded relieved. The ghost of a smile draped over her face.
“Stay visible,” Pietro urged quietly.
Piper rushed to Lolita's other side, grabbing her other hand. "Lolita stay awake love. Don't lose consciousness! You're going to be okay Puppet…" Her brain didn't register that she had just called Lolita by her late best friend's nickname.
Lolita was becoming delusional. "Wren?"
“You’re okay,” Pietro repeated as though it could change fate. “You’re okay.”
"Wren, is that you?" Lolita reached for Piper's arm.
Piper squeezed Lolita's hand. "No, no it's me, Piper. Hold on Puppet, you'll be….you'll be okay." She whispered.
"Wren… I miss you…" Lolita murmured as she passed out from the pain.
Piper clenched her jaw. The doctors shooed her and Puerto away right before they got to the emergency room. Piper grabbed Pietro's arm to keep him from running after them.
"Wren…" Lolita whispered in her sleep.
Pietro pounded on the door, but they wouldn’t let him in.
Piper grabbed Pietro's arm. "Hey. This isn't going to help her." She whispered gently.
“Doesn’t matter.” Pietro looked exhausted. “I have to… do… something.”
Piper shook her head. "If you collapse too you're not going to be able to help anybody. Where's your house. I'm taking you there to rest until they take Lolita out of surgery." Piper stated, leaving no room for argument.
“Down the…. street….”
Piper sighed and grabbed Pietro's wrist, dragging him out of the hospital and using her powers over technology to find his house. Once she got to the front door, she stood quietly, not knowing whether anybody was inside or if Pietro had a key.
“Just open it,” Pietro sighed, gesturing to the door. “There’s no lock.”
Piper opened the door quickly and led Pietro in. "Go sleep dude. And don't even try to speed out."
