“Definitely,” Cece said. “I’m not sure about you guys, but I’m sick of hiding.”
“Definitely,” Cece said. “I’m not sure about you guys, but I’m sick of hiding.”
Skylar nodded, "We can be superheros! We could have costumes and everything!"
“Okay, we should probably not jump to that,” Cece explained, “We haven’t had training or anything,”
"Yeah, I guess you're right," Skylar sulked, "But who's going to teach us how to control our powers?"
“I know someone,” Cece said in a sour tone. “Tomorrow at midnight, meet me outside this apartment. On the dot.”
Skylar nodded, "Ok, see you then. Unless you guys want to stay, of course."
"Again, this seems really shady and creepy. I just started trusting you guys." Luca crossed his arms.
"Oh, yeah. I guess you're right," Skylar shrugged, "I'm just gonna go ahead and do it; it seems like my only option."
He sighed, nodding. "Alright. I guess I'll be here at midnight."
"Ok, see you guys then!" Skylar led them to the door, "It was nice having you guys!"
Luca nodded in agreement. "Thanks for having us over." He waved as he walked down the hallway, heading home.
Cece nodded before walking out the door. Great. She hadn't seen her dad in ages, and now she just asked two complete strangers to come see him. What were they going to say to him? 'Hey, we've all got powers! Can you teach us how to not to kill people with them?'
Luca tried to get to his house quickly so he had time to finish homework and get some rest before midnight.
Cece went straight to the phone when she got home. She needed to hire a nurse to take care of her mum. She had no idea how long she'd be gone. Once she had done that, she flopped onto her bed, not bothering to change.
Skylar turned on her phone and browsed the internet. She wouldn't be able to sleep, so she put an alarm on for 11:55 so she could be there early.
Luca finished his homework and plopped onto his bed after setting an alarm for 11:30. He really needed rest after today.
Cece rolled around in bed, then realized she should probably set an alarm. She zaps the battries of her alarm clock into action, then sets an alarm for 11:45.
Skylar looked at the time, 11:25. It was taking forever for midnight to come. She decided to take a walk, but immediately regretted it when she felt the chilly air. She walked back inside and went back on her phone to pass more time.
Cece continued to roll around, but she was wide awake. She looks a the time before deciding she could just leave now. She grabbed a jacket from the coat rack and went outside, on her way to Skylar's apartment.
Luca managed to fall asleep for five minutes when his alarm went off. He silenced it and grabbed his jacket, his brother's journal, and his phone. Carefully, he grabbed a set of keys next to the door and crept out of the house, trying not to wake up his mom.
It was 11:50 now, Skylar couldn't wait anymore. She walked outside with her coat on and waited for Cece and Luca to arrive.
Cece walked with her head down, shaking from the cold. She turned a corner and ran straight into someone. "Oh, hey Skylar,"
Luca ran across the street, narrowly avoiding being hit buy a car. "Sorry!" He yelled, still trying to make his way to the apartment.
"Hi," Skylar said to Cece, "So, we just wait for Luca and the person you mentioned, then we learn about all this, right?"
11:57… Luca thought as he checked his phone before putting it back in his pocket. He hid the journal inside of his coat as he say the two girls across the street.
