@Natasha
Addison smiled and nodded.
Addison smiled and nodded.
“Aren’t we suppsoed to find the satellite? WHAT WOULD THE BOSS DO WHEN HE HEARS THIS? DEMOTE ME? FIRE ME?!”
"We're pretty much stranded here Luce." Addison said.
“… we are? WAIT WE LOST CONNECTION WITH THE OUTER WORLD? WhAt?! WhEn?! I’m the worst person on this ship!”
Addison flinched as Lucille yelled. Parents. Yelling. Hitting.
"Outside communication is blocked by the atmosphere of this planet," Phoenix explained, "That's why we didn't have any footage or information beforehand. All of the devices will continue working, but transmissions won't go through and it may be difficult to exit the atmosphere."
“Why didn’t anyone tell me this earlier?!” Lucille said, she was very panicked. She took a deep breath, “I’m going to get a glazed donut.”
Phoenix rubbed the back of her neck and looked sheepishly at the others as Lucille exited.
"Is it bad I forgot all that until now…?" she asked turning to look out the window, "Once we got here… well, I didn't think much about leaving. I was finally back on my home planet."
(sorry for vanishing again) Jay fiddled with his sleeves, still watching the windows as the ship started to touch down. "Well, it looks like the autopilot is stopping us here. Guess it is the right clearing."
Addison nodded silently, at a loss of words.
Jay frowned at her. "You ok?" he asked, absently scratching at one of his wrists
"Yeah, I'm fi–I'll be fine. I think." She said, then sat down at the table.
The ship finally slowed to a stop in the clearing. Jay disconnected and sat down next to her. "Hey, um. Are you sure?"
"Yeah. It's just……………kind of hard to suddenly remember the real reason why you have do many scars. And what happened when my parents thought I did something wrong………" She shuddered. "But I know that emotional stuff like this makes you uncomfortable so……….I'll just shut up now."
Jay let out a nervous chuckle. "It's um. It's ok. If it makes you feel any better, um…" He rolled up one of his long sleeves, revealing the arm covered in deep, ugly scars. "You're not alone with the scars thing."
Addison gave him a small smile. She went to touch his scars, but jerked her hand back. Geeze Ad. That'srude. Don't do that.
"I uh. I've got more. A lot more, actually. It's kinda amazing what an angry, cursed ghost can do to you."
Addi nodded silently, knowing that saying sorry would only make him feel weird. So she settled for a gentle, "You want to talk about it?"
"Not much to uh. To talk about. I wasn't awake for a lot of it. There was just a lot of pain. And um. Anger too. It just sucks worrying someone will look at your hideous face and run the other way, y'know?" Jay let himself smile a little. "Kinda why I like this crew. You guys uh. You didn't look at my face and run, you just kinda rolled with it. And it's a nice change."
Addison smiled. "That's what I'm here for, right??"
Jay rolled his sleeve down. "Yeah, I guess. If um. You wanna talk about your parents it's okay. I'm not the best responder, but I'm a good listener."
Addison smiled. "I don't remember everything yet. But…………….I do remember them sentencing to death a lot of innocent people. I can't believe that…………………what if i become like them Jay??"
"I'm sure you won't. They were uh, afraid of you right? Maybe you're, I dunno, destined to overthrow them or something?"
(good morning!)
As she leaned back and listened to the others talk, Phoenix wondered what they were going to do.
Would they be able to fulfill the mission? They didn't know where the satellite was and finding and retrieving it would be difficult to do without alerting her parents to their presence. Not to mention how they would even get off the planet.
Plus, some small, homesick part of her wanted to stay. She was home, she didn't have to hide her abilities, why should she leave?
(hello !)
