"So, Jay, now that we've landed," Phoenix said grinning, "want to go explore the caverns once Addi comes back? We can go check out the zmeyas!"

(hi sorry for vanishing again) Jay's grin returned. "Don't have to ask me twice!"

Somewhere in the ship, Lucille smacked her head into a wall.

"Well, come on then!" Phoenix exclaimed, dashing for the door, grabbing her jacket on the way out,
"You might want to grab a jacket, too, it's pretty cool down there."

Jay near flung his hoverboard out in excitement, hopping onto it. "I'm good, trusty vest has never let me down yet!" he said, tugging the collar of the vest up for emphasis

"Alrighty!" Phoenix laughed, "Let's go, I can't wait to introduce you to Iskra!"
She jumped out the ship doors and her wings burst from her back and she launched into the sky i the direction of the caverns.
"Keep up if you can!" she called to Jay.

"Watch me!" Jay yelled after her, dopey smile plastered on his face. He shot off after her, enhanced hoverboard keeping up easily

Addison ran out behind them. "Isaliana! Hey!" She called.

As they flew down into the cavern, it grew cooler and you could hear the soft sound of running water.
"Ok, Jay," Phoenix said as they landed at the bottom, "When I say these guys are huge, I mean they're HUGE. Around sixty yards long and the same size around as a horse. Don't get to close until they have your scent, they're like dogs, they want to smell you first."

(I guess) Jay slowed the hoverboard but didn't get off, afraid that he might have to make a break for it. "Okay."

"Come on," Phoenix said, walking further into the cavern, which was much larger than it appeared on the surface. "They tend to stick to the shadowed areas. We should be able to find one easily. That, or one will find us."

"Sounds good to me." Jay reached down and grabbed his datapad out of his leg, holding it to take notes about the cave while they went further inside

After walking for a few a little while and not finding anything except some old scales, Phoenix began to worry. They should have at least heard a zmeya by now. To distract herself from her concerns, she turned to Jay.
"While we're looking, do you have any questions about the zmeyas or any of the other wildlife?" she asked.

Addison followed silently behind Jay and Phoenix, content to just listen.

"What do they eat? Do they shed like normal snakes? Ooh, how long do they live?"

"They're omnivores but are usually content to just eat the fluorescent moss that grows in these caverns. They don't shed their entire skin, but they do lose and replace scales. Their average lifespan is about… ummm…" she paused to think, "about 30 earth years."

Jay floated along as he wrote, repeating what Phoenix said to himself quietly. "Huh. 30 earth years. That's not very long for a giant snake. I would think something like these lived for like, 300 years."

Addison gave a small chuckle from behind Jay.

"On Aquari there's a lot of big creatures like these guys who live for thousands of years. My friend Lighthouse has been around for the past 3,000 years or so."
