"So, how's life?" Camie asked, busily gathering images for a title slide, assuming that they were doing a PowerPoint.
"So, how's life?" Camie asked, busily gathering images for a title slide, assuming that they were doing a PowerPoint.
"Pretty good, pretty good." Tiffany said hesitantly as she typed as fast as her fingers let her.
Camie stopped and looked at her friend. "Really?"
"Yeah, what, do you think otherwise?"
"No, you just hesitated. That's all," Camie said, quickly looking back to her screen.
"I did?" Oops. Tiffany fell silent as she continued her research.
"Is everything okay?" Camie asked, looking back at Tiffany as her computer downloaded several pictures.
"Uh……yeah. I'm fine….." Tiffany said, trying to avoid the question.
"Okay…" Camie looked back to her computer, somewhat hurt that Tiffany wouldn't tell her what was going on.
Tiffany sighed. "I'm sorry. I just really don't want to talk about it." She fell silent for a moment. "My parents are getting divorced."
"Tiff…" Camie bit her lip. She felt awful for forcing her friend into saying that.
Tiffany shrugged it off, though tears formed in the corners of her eyes.
"Sorry for making you say that. I was just worried." Camie shut her laptop.
Tiffany took a deep breath as she put her computer aside too. "I understand. It's fine."
"Okay. Do you need anything?"
"Just…….I need you to be here."
Camie touched Tiffany's shoulder gently. "Okay."
Tiffany smiled faintly at her friend. "Thanks."
"What started this? I thought that your parents were happy."
"They were! But then……….." Tiffany sighed, leaning up against the wall. "I don't know."
"Oh…" Camie mimicked Tiffany playfully. Laugh. Please, you need to laugh.
Tiffany snickered, trying not to laugh before dissolving into giggles.
Camie laughed and poked at Tiffany's ribs. Yes!
Tiffany screeched with laughter. "CAMIE! PLEASE, NO!"
"You know I can't stop now, Tiff!" Camie poked her again, giggles erupting from her lips.
