"Sure thing, boss," Asura said, irritated at the fact that he was being given orders.
"Sure thing, boss," Asura said, irritated at the fact that he was being given orders.
"All right then. Radios on. I see some tracks heading northwest, so we'll spread out into a diamond formation and start heading that way. Red, on my right. Asura, on the left. Pluto, you take up the rear, and watch real careful for sneak attacks. Remember, they might be above your head in the trees." So saying, he set off into the forest, his eyes on the trail of broken branches and churned-up earth before them.
(shinsleepy isn't here right now, we might have to wait)
(okay)
(I'm back sorry had a long bus ride) "Awesome. All I can think of is a snake flinging itself at us from the trees."
(kay I'll be going slow but I'm here)
"Just keep your eyes and ears wide open" Mike said quietly, "And nothing will catch you by surprise. Remember to watch for both human and animal life at this point."
Asura frowned. "A snake flinging itself from the trees is definitely not what I pictured."
(what?)
(???)
(I meant flinging itself from the trees oh god that's embarrassing)
(you had a "I was hailing and snowing moment" lol)
(Ah, I see XDD)
Mike suddenly held up his hand and hissed softly through his teeth to quiet you. "I thought I heard something."
Asura rolled his eyes, dimming his flames and listening.
(also I'm going to leave in a couple of minutes)
Red breathed quietly and stopped walking, tilting her head to listen closer to the sounds of the surrounding forest.
(gtg now. sorry)
(kay, I'll just leave this here for later)
For a few minutes, there was nothing but silence. Then, distantly, there came a long, bugling roar. It was followed by another one of a slightly different pitch from the opposite direction. They rose, melded, and faded away.
Mike sighed. "So they're not together. Great."
"Wonderful. Lovely. Sounds like death," Pluto grumbled. "I'd finish this a lot quicker if you just let me stab one of them. Or both of them."
(oh god please don't take off without us again we're at play practice)
(I won't lol)
(No worries, I have to eat supper anyway XD)
(yeah I might have to vanish for like 10 minutes soon but idk)
(Okay, I'm back, anyone else there? I'mma have Mike respond either way cuz I typed it up before I left)
"Wonderful. Lovely. Sounds like death," Pluto grumbled. "I'd finish this a lot quicker if you just let me stab one of them. Or both of them."
Mike shook his head. "Even if Clay would allow it, I wouldn't. We don't kill demons anymore unless they're downright rabid, or dying anyway. There's not really a point, and the risks don't justify the rewards." He'd progressively lowered his voice as he spoke, turning in a slow circle. "Now, our targets will be distracted by the border patrol, which is why they're sending out hunting calls. Let's go for the male first and track him down before he kills somebody."
"Ugh, fine." Pluto looked up at the trees, wary of attack. Out of the blue, she started to feel an…inhuman hunger creep into her gut. "Oh no…"
Mike glanced around sharply. "What?"
"I…I don't know. But I think I'm hungry again. Not the good hungry." To confirm her suspicious, her eyes turned black and gold again, and a drop of inky liquid rolled down her cheek
"Oh, for–" Mike stopped and looked up at the treetops for a minute. "Pluto, you can not touch these demons, understand? Each one is worth more than my whole camp to Clay, and he'd have a stroke if you friggin' ate one of 'em. How bad is it? Distracting?"
