Simon sighed, exasperated. "I don't think she's hungry, you idiot. Don't sirens eat humans?"

Destiny ducked and the burger splashed behind her. She noticed Eric behind Simon and hissed, the poisonous fins unfurling along her tail and arms.

"The situation seemed like she was going to attack you," Eric answered, "so I threw the patty to her just in case she was." Eric took a deep breath before adding, "I find it hard to trust her because she just worries me… I don't want anyone getting hurt…"

"And now she hates you. Great. Okay." Simon threw up his hands in defeat.

Destiny seized the chance to disappear when they were fighting. She ducked under the pier, the fins flattening on her tail and arms.

"Why are you acting like this?" Eric asked, "do you like the siren? Not like… love the siren?"

"Do I like her? I don't know. Maybe I would know if you didn't keep scaring her off. I'm just trying to be a decent person," Simon said bithely.

Destiny stayed high enough to hear his words. She blushed and smiled softly when she heard him say that.
