"No, I…my most recent relationship just ended, actually," Luno admitted a bit sheepishly. He pointed at the bruise below his eye, averting his gaze as he sipped his coffee to distract himself
"They…did they hit you?" Baz asked, his voice dropping to something a bit gentler as he looked towards the bruise placed under Luno's eye. He paused, thinking that his question might have been a bit blunt. Not everyone wanted to answer a question that was so private. "Sorry, you…you don't need to answer that," he quickly added with a small stammer.
"It's alright," Luno assured him quietly. "I…He asked me to go get takeout since he was under the influence. And when I came home with the wrong order he hit me. But it's okay, I deserved it," he mumbled, his voice trailing off in an almost depressed manner, as if this was something he had been through before
"You didn't deserve something like that, Luno, just because you came back with the wrong order. It's wrong that your boyfriend would ever do something like that to someone as sweet as you," Baz argued softly as he looked towards Luno with a concerned expression. He honestly wondered why he was being so open and kind to a stranger…though it was wrong that someone would ever do something like that to Luno.
"I've done nothing but mess up for the past week. I can't hold a job, and I refuse to work at the one place I know I'd get paid at. I don't have a home anymore because my boyfriend broke up with me and kicked me out. How is any of what happened to me not my fault?" Luno asked quietly, his voice growing a tad choked now
Baz looked towards Luno with an almost unreadable expression as he paused to think for a few moments. "None of these bad things are your fault, Luno, and your boyfriend has no right to hit you," he started, intent on making sure that Luno wouldn't blame himself for these kinds of things. "I'll tell you what, I know I'm a complete stranger…but if you need a place to stay, my apartment has more space then I need."
Luno looked up at him, golden eyes wide with disbelief. He opened his mouth to say something before his expression fell as quickly as it had risen. "No, no, I couldn't burden you like that. You wouldn't want someone like me living with you, I'd just end up ruining everything."
"Please, you wouldn't be a burden at all," Baz answered, waving Luno off with his hand as he looked towards the other man, his icy eyes sincere. "I barely have friends, so a roommate would be more than I could ask for. Plus, it'll only be for a while once you get back on your feet," he added, not wanting to walk away from Luno and knowing that they would be staying in random apartments with people like their old boyfriend.
"You don't understand," Luno murmured. "I…I've been going from boyfriend to boyfriend's house for years now. I haven't had a real home in years and I don't know if I'll ever have another one." He didn't want to elaborate more, since despite the other's appearance he wasn't sure that he could talk about non-human things around him
"Please, Luno, it doesn't have to be for a week…maybe even just for a couple days. I can't leave you in some random apartment with strange people," Baz answered, releasing a small sigh as he ran a hand through his dark hair, though he was ready to let Luno go off if they really wanted to.
Luno sniffled a little, and he had to reach up to wipe at one of his eyes before any tears fell from his eyes. "T-Thank you. It means a lot, really."
"Of course," Baz nodded, smiling faintly as he looked towards Luno, feeling his heart melt a bit at the sight of the other almost crying. Luno had to be one of the sweetest and most adorable people he had ever met.
Luno eventually had to use both hands to wipe at his eyes. The thought of someone actually being nice to him for once was almost impossible to comprehend, and now he was crying in front of a cute guy he had just met. How had Baz not kicked him out already?
"I hope these are tears of joy, unless I accidentally said something to make you cry," Baz spoke up, tilting his head to the side as he smiled a bit. He honestly found it sweet that someone would cry because another had offered them somewhere to stay, though it was also a bit sad because it meant that almost no one else had done that in the past for them.
"No, no, they're…they're good tears. I'm sorry, I'm a little…I'm a crybaby," Luno admitted with a small, sad laugh. He eventually managed to calm down enough to keep from crying, though the area around his eyes was still tinted red
"It's alright, really. My sister used to cry too, but she was one of the most badass people that I had ever known," Baz answered as he looked towards Luno, playing with the hem of his sweater when he realized that he had used a lot of past tense. "If you'd like to, we can head back over towards my place?"
Luno took a deep breath, calming himself before nodding. "That would be good," he mumbled before finishing his coffee. He got to his feet, throwing the empty cup away before walking back over to the table
Ladin showed her a select set, including an incredibly detailed shoulder tattoo of a black kitten, with one blue eyes and one yellow. Another one was a skull, with a long, green serpent constricting it.
"What do you think."
"Second one would be amazing on my hip and outer thigh if we need more space" she replied
Luno took a deep breath, calming himself before nodding. "That would be good," he mumbled before finishing his coffee. He got to his feet, throwing the empty cup away before walking back over to the table
"Alright, it isn't too far," Bastian answered as he ran a hand through his dark hair, motioning towards the door as he began his way towards it. He tossed his cup into the trash as well, wondering if he should have fixed his apartment up a bit. But hey, he wasn't really expecting company.
Luno followed him towards the door. "Would it work if I just followed you to the apartment in my car? All my things are in there," he said, gesturing to an older Mustang at the edge of the parking lot
"Yeah, of course. See those apartments down there?" Baz answered, motioning towards the old, rickety buildings a few blocks down. They weren't exactly amazing, but they were home and the only thing he could afford.
Luno looked over at them, nodding as he did. "Is that where they are?" he asked as he looked them over. There were old, but they looked better than most of the places he'd lived before
"Home sweet home," Baz answered, nodding as he glanced back towards Luno, letting his hand drop back to his side. "It's a bit small, though there's more than enough of room for you." He added.
"Are you…sure?" Luno asked a bit sheepishly. He wanted to make sure that Baz really meant that he would be okay with him staying there, even though it was small
