@Shadow_Knight_Is_Going_To_Die!!!!!
For those of you who have chosen to stalk this rp, here's the prompt:
A parasitic race known as Shades need hosts to feed off of and Nyght (Shadow's character) has just found a new host.
Here's my character, I'll leave it up to Shadow if they want to post theirs.
Name: Samantha (Sam) Williams
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Straight
Appearance: Sam is about 5'4" and is more stout than curvy. She has the eyes of a cloudy sky, and you can often see blue specks in them. Sam's on the less active side of the spectrum, but she isn't overweight. Her skin is fair with red undertones, and her cheeks are naturally red, nothing compared to her dyed dark red hair. Her eyes are usually bright. Sam normally wears sarcastic or funny shirts and wears any kinds of jeans. In colder weather, she'll wear a hoodie all day.
Other: Sam is really caring and loyal. Unless she has a good reason to be upset with you, she's relatively nice to everyone, but loves to joke and tease with her friends. Often times, she is too selfless for her own good, caring too much about what other people want or think of her. Because of this, Sam tends to burn herself out.
Shadow, I'm ready whenever you are!
Name: Nyght
Age: ???
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Pan
Appearance: Nyght has a shadow like body that is a very dark black. She mostly inhabits the body of her host so when she is not inhabiting her host her body has the characteristics of liquid that can float. (Sorry for not much!)
Other: She is extremely loyal and would do anything to protect her host. She can be quite annoying and enjoys teasing or flirting with her host. Because of the magic that makes up her being, it can often be transferred into more energy her host can use. This means that her host may be stronger, faster, or more agile for longer periods of time.
I'm ready too! Do you want me to post the starter?
If you'd like sure. Are we starting off when Sam finds Nyght?
(Yep!)
Ava was pacing back and forth. She was the only one left in the lab. Her team had been trying to study a creature that they had newly deemed a "Shade" because of it's shadow like appearance. They had caught about four of them but currently there were only two left, which they identified by color. Both were black but they had highlights of other colors. One had highlights of a dark purple and the other a yellow. Something her crew had found out about not too long ago was that these…creatures couldn't survive on their own. They needed a host for protection and nourishment, much like parasites. But the problem was that they would latch onto a person, then discard it within an hour or so. They had tried people from all different races, genders, ages and health levels. And to top it off they knew that "Shades" would latch onto people because a red one latched on to a male for an entire week before they tried to escape, getting gunned down.
Ava pulled on her hair as she stared at the monitors that watched the purple shade, who was slowly killing a middle aged white male. "What do you f#&%ing want!" She yelled at the monitor. They needed to study these creatures but they were draining people so quickly that it was hard to study them and the amount of people they had kill was getting ridiculous. People were starting to get suspicious of all the missing people cases that had sprung up recently.
(BTW sorry for taking so long.)
(I'm getting a "Venom" vibe…)
(So Sam is like the main character in Venom? How should she find Nyght? I'd like to get a good idea before I respond, so I don't mess things up majorly, sorry…)
Sam woke up to "A Whole New World" blasting from her phone. It was yet another Monday, and Sam longed for the weekend to have lasted longer. Oh well, she thought, at least I don't have a terrible job. Being a journalist wasn't hard for Samantha. In fact, she rather enjoyed it. Informing the world of events happening, posting new jobs, and promoting charities (to which she often donated to.) Sam found it as a fun job…except for all the deadlines, which were, more often than not, with no exceptions. This meant that, because she was sick for a few days last week, Sam didn't have much time to finish her weekly quota, which was due today. As a result, she woke up hours before she had to go to work to finally finish. Some of it covered the unemployment rates, some covered politics (which Sam never really liked,) and the rest covered the success of Amnitech Laboratory. Sam's boss had given her the assignment to host an interview with the founder, but Sam wasn't enthusiastic about it, for she had recently discovered that one of her mutual friends, homeless from debt, had gone missing. Alas, Sam knew that saying "no" would cause consequences, so as soon as she finished her quota, she drove herself to Amnitech Laboratory just in time to eat a McDonald's breakfast.
(So Sam is like the main character in Venom? How should she find Nyght? I'd like to get a good idea before I respond, so I don't mess things up majorly, sorry…)
(That's fine! Yes in a way, is like the main character. She could find Nyght seeking in. Whether she accidentally bonds with Nyght by letting her out or she gets caught and used as the next subject for Nyght is up to you though.)
(Alright, I finished. Thanks for the help, too!)
Ava sighed as another person walked into the observation room. "What's wrong, Ava?" The male asked as he set the paperwork and cup of coffee down on the desk. "Ruff night?"
Ava shrugged. "That and I thing the press have started linking the missing people with us. This isn't the first illegal thing this company has done and I'm worried the press will start trying to investigate. We've already bribed the police to not look too closely." She vented.
The man nodded. "Are you ready for the interview today?" He asked.
Ava nodded. "I think so
(I'm screeching because I have no idea if this is something that happens or not and it annoys me!)
(It's fine! We're not going through Venom word by word, it's our story)
Sam tried not to look tired, but there were mild bags under her eyes. "This is what I get for drinking water instead of coffee," she mumbled to herself. At around 9:30, Sam checked in and went through security, leaving her only a few minutes to find Ava, the owner. How she was supposed to find her in such a large building, Sam didn't know.
Samantha asked around, and was eventually led to a pristine meeting room. The first thing she thought was, my, do they really need all of this in a Lab?
Ava straightened herself out in the bathroom before walking out to meet the reporter. She walked into the meeting room, her eyes landing on Sam. "You must be Samantha Williams?" She asked, her voice soft, hiding the worry. She knew if she messed up she could potentially be the next person to be tested on.
"Hi! Yes, I'll just be here for an hour. I don't mean to interrupt anything." Sam smiled politely.
"Ava, didn't think I'd meet you in person. So, it's been…what? Only five years after launching, and you've become the most rich company here! What helped you towards success?"
Ava smiled, outstretching her hand. "Yes. In five years Day Break Technology has risen to the top for its bold decisions. After all, not any company can find three new elements in a years time." She boasted, though it sounded hollow. Almost everything about Ava seemed fake in that moment.
"You must be proud of this company. Um," Sam paused, looking through her notes. "Were any of those decisions…risky at all? Pardon me, but I have to cover all sides of the story, sadly including the rumors. Then again, that's all they are-rumors."
Ava's smile faltered a bit when rumors were mentioned but perked back up. "Of course there were risks. We weren't sure if our tests with animals using Doame would yield successful results but look at what we have now. Animals can live up to twice as long as they usually did." She rattled off. After a beat or two of silence she asked. "What type of rumors are there?"
(Im going to just say Doame is one of the new elements that they found.)
"Oh, the usual. There were recent reports about you," Sam paused to quote, "'[killing] the homeless and destroyed our lives', but I-personally-found that atrocious." Sam lied. "Besides, it was from an anonymous user on some blog." Sam waved it away dismissively.
"Um, I wanted to ask this, but it's a touchy subject, so feel free not to answer." Sam paused, looking at the question on her paper, the sprawled handwriting barely visible through her watery eyes. The question reminded her of Markus, her kind and warm friend, who mysteriously disappeared that one winter day, after receiving a paper from Day Break Technology. Sam was probably the only person told-Markus didn't have many friends. Sam bit her lip, not wanting for the dots to connect. It would make sense, but Sam didn't want him, didn't want Markus to have been dead for weeks. No, they must have accepted him to work for them. He wasn't smart, but neither was Markus dumb. Sam blinked, brushing the tears aside.
"Sorry. All right then, the question: Do you use any…" Sam hesitated, "…human subjects?" Sam sounded uncomfortable from the way she phrased her question. It didn't matter, though. Sam had good insurance, so they could file no lawsuits without a good, strong claim.
Ava went stiff at the rumors and the question of human subject. "No. We do not use any human subjects. Some of our experiments are too dangerous to be using humans and some of them would be very illegal." She answered, with a thin smile. "Are you alright? Can I get you anything to drink or something to dry your eyes with?" She asked, sounding concerned.
They took him. That was all Sam needed to know. With a stiff smile, Sam shook her head. "No, thank you. I think that should be enough, thanks." Sam stood up, getting ready to leave.
Ava nodded. "Alright. I hope you have a safe trip home then. I'll see you out." She said with another smile as she stood up. "I hope this was informational."
(ACH! I don't know what's going to happen, yet I know what's going to happen-I'm so on edge.)
"It certainly was. Thank you for your time." Sam paused, considering something. What's the worst that she can do? End my career? I'll find another. As she held the door for Ava, she asked. "I believe one of my friends came here for a job. Do you happen to know Markus Evans?"
(Do you need me to explain what I want to happen?)
(Yes, maybe. You could also leave it a surprise, unless you'd like me to reply a specific way.)
