Lillianās father nodded. He let go of his daughter and patted her shoulder, like a goodbye. He walked over to that damn car Lillian had been seeing all day and drove off. Lillian fell down on her knees sobbing. She was supposed to have gotten over this. Why didnāt her body listen?! Doubt, guilt, anger, and above all the feeling of being terrified flooded through her core. She couldnāt stand up, she couldnāt do anything!
He ran to her, āHey itās okay,ā
Maybe it was just the stress of being married? Maybe cold feet had gotten the better of both of them.
The wedding was only a couple months away, maybe that was it? I mean, they technically hadn't even finished planning it. She wrapped her arms around him, just needing something solid to hold on to for right now.
He let out a sigh. He wanted things to be how they used to be more than anything.
"What happened to us? Where did it all go so wrong?" She whispered. Why had their relationship turned into nothing but drama and stress?
āThe beginning I thinkā¦ā hadnāt it always been this way? They were just now getting tired of it.
She chuckled lightly. "Okay, not what I meant." She sighed. "It's gone from bad to worse." Take a break! You really didn't have to sing that. Oh but I did.

Lillian felt her head nod. She tried to stand up, her legs were trembling as she stood.

āSorry,ā he said quietly. āIām really trying,ā

He slipped an arm around her to help her walk. āWeāll go slow. Just breathe,ā

"I know you are, I'm trying too." She squeezed him lightly. "I just don't know what to do."
"Do you still want to get married?" He asked so quietly that he could barely hear himself. A light ringing in his ears had loudened.
"Of course I do." Her voice was small but held a strong confidence.

Lillian nodded and forced herself to take deep breaths. She took a step forward leaning slightly against Darren. This wasn't going to get to her, she wouldn't let it anymore.
"Of course I do." Her voice was small but held a strong confidence.
He nodded, āAs long as we have that, we can make it work right?ā

āWe can be gone by the time he comes back,ā
"Of course I do." Her voice was small but held a strong confidence.

She smiled a little. "We have our promise of forever. We'll get through this the same way we've gotten through everything else. Together."
Lillian nodded once again. She said in a quiet voice, "O-Okay. Y-you should still sleep."
Lillian nodded once again. She said in a quiet voice, "O-Okay. Y-you should still sleep."
āItās okay, Iāll sleep at night like a normal person,ā he chuckled. Putting on a brave face for her.

"Just let me know if that changes okay? I won't force you into anything,"
She kissed his cheek lightly. "Change my mind? About marrying you? Never."
Lillian let a smile trickle on her face. She tried to hide the quiver in her voice, "No, I p-promised you a nap."

He smiled, "Just making sure you don't get cold feet,"
Lillian let a smile trickle on her face. She tried to hide the quiver in her voice, "No, I p-promised you a nap."
"We don't have toā¦ we can postpone it or something to another day,"
"I'm not a child, D-Darren. I said I would earlier so I-I will."
"I didn't say you were a child just that it might not be best to sleep right nowā¦ Maybe we'll get a hotel for a day or something and we can nap thereā¦"
