Marcus chuckled softly and continued walking. He barely noticed the number of people since he knew that most would stick around for the fireworks or go find a better spot to watch them. But it also meant that the lines to get the food would be shorter.
Maria looked around with her little smile still beaming and and nudged Marcus with a little giggle
Marcus smiled at the little bump and gave her hand a gentle squeeze as they approached the vendor stand.
“What can I get you two?”
Maria smiled at little but before she could say something to Marcus the vendor spoke "oh um we would like– what did you say they were called again? "
“Corn dogs?” Marcus asked, raising a brow slightly to make sure that was what she was asking about.
"Yeah! Those! We need two please ." This girl– my it's hard to believe she forgot what they were called its two words but at the same time she adorably innocent so it's okay, she turned to Marcus before giving a small little smile to the vendor
Marcus nodded, finding her innocence adorable, as he smiled back at her.
Meanwhile, the vendor chuckled at the absurdity of someone forgetting two simple words. They were even on the menu behind him. “Is that all?”
“Actually we’d also like one funnel cake.” Marcus added, ignoring the vendor’s attitude.
Maria noted the vendors attitude and looked down at her feet her ears turning a light shade of pink, she didn't say much else even after Marcus had spoken.
Marcus gently squeezed her hand, assuringly, as the vendor gave them their total before reaching for his wallet. “You want something to drink, Maria?” he asked kindly.
Maria glanced up at him still very much embarrassed and looked back at the ground before shaking her head "no im fine. " she said quietly
Marcus nodded and paid the vendor for their food. Though he had to let go of Maria’s hand to hold everything without dropping something. “Let's see if we can find a good place to sit down for a while.” he smiled warmly at her once he had everything, completely ignoring the vendor now.
"I can help hold stuff if youd like me to." She said as they walked away from the vendor " i saw tables over by the ferris wheel earlier. "
“Sure.” he agreed, offering her one of the corn dogs. “I can hold the rest until then. Do you want any ketchup or mustard or something to go with that?”
Maria took it from Marcus and smiled at him "alright, and no..i don't think i want anything thank you though. "
“Alright.” Marcus smiled back, forgoing his usual choice of condiment and walking towards the nearest empty table with her.
"I'm beginning to think that I really don't fit in here Marcus.. " she said as they bother sat down
“Well, you are a tourist.” he teased lightly, smiling at her. “But if this is because of that jerk, don't let him get to you. If anything he's the weird one for treating you like that.” he assured as he took a seat and set down the plate with the funnel cake.
"I suppose so… But it was just a simple word I should have remembered it easily. "
Marcus shrugged slightly. “I still wouldn't worry about it. Chances are there are plenty of British foods that he wouldn't remember.” he assured. “Honestly, the only two I remember are bubble and squeak and spotted dick. And I have no idea what the actual food is in either of those cases.” he chuckled.
(Sorry about that tiny mental break)
"Well I suppose but that was still rather embarrassing I'm just glad no one was around. " she said softly "I've actually never been a fan of spotted dick it just wasn't my type of food.. That and the fact that as children my brother just made it sound inappropriate. "
(no worries. Mental health comes first. I just saw you were on)
Marcus pursed his lips a moment to hold back his reflexive, and admittedly immature, reaction to laugh at the name of the food. “Yeah. I can see that.” he nodded. “Must be a guy thing. That's probably part of the reason why I remember it.” he confessed with a shrug.
(Thank you for bopping it :)
Maria looked at him knowing exactly what was going and and shook her head "it must be my father thought that it was hilarious as did my brother, my mother wasn't amused by their antics. "
(no problem :)
Marcus smiled apologetically and shrugged again. “I… I don't even know why it's funny to us. It just… kinda is.” he sighed.
"Men never really grow out of being childish, which isn't exactly a bad thing l. You think it's funny because you have a dick, " she said simply as she took a bite of her corn dog
