"Hey, Skye," Septima said, "So what's the deal?"
"Hey, Skye," Septima said, "So what's the deal?"
"Alot" said Skye, his features etched with worry. "We might be in deeper than we thought."
Arthur frowned, "Explain?"
"Oh… yeah, I think we're gonna need more detail than that," Septima agreed.
Skye sighed, "Silver found out more about what they do in those prisons.." he said, "I'm getting this second hand from Alex, but its enough to be worrying."
"How? What's going on?" Septima asked, becoming a little alarmed, "Please continue."
"Apparently Aurelius' recovery from being in that prison so long was going ok, but he was still getting tired really easily. Silver sat down and had a talk, and they realized he had memory gaps too." Said Skye, trying to explain.
Septima was completely silent as she listened. The only reaction she had was shown in her facial expression, and her first reaction was of course worry.
"Silver used a dreamwalk spell to fkgure out what Aurelius' lost memories were, which is why I couldn't speak to him directly," said Skye, "but apparently Aurelius had been put through some Aura drain spells."
"Oh…" Septima sighed, sitting down on the edge of the bed, "That sounds rough… So they've been doing that to prisoners? They use a guise of hatred when they're actually just stealing magic?"
"It's not magic they're stealing…" said Skye. "Its their life aura. They're using magic users cause we have a greater resistance to that type of spell."
"So they can do it multiple times before it kills the person," Septima guessed, "But what if they were to run out of people to steal from? Or did they prepare for that too?"
"I don't know if they've planned for that or not. And I don't know what they plan on doing with all that stolen energy." Said Skye.
"I don't know," Septima agreed, "but I sure do intend to find out, one way or another."
Arthur nodded, "Do you know how they're doing it?"
Skye shook his head, "Silver suspects Alchemy, but there's no way to know for sure.." he said.
Arthur nodded. "We'll have to find out then.."
"Do we need to investigate at the prison here?" Septima asked, "Or are you suggesting something else?"
"We might need to investigate the prison.." he said.
"Alright then. Let's get a plan rolling to infiltrate it unseen. You and I are both capable of putting up illusions, so it should be perfectly doable, right?"
Arthur nodded, "but I don't think either of us should try." He said.
Skye nodded, "I'll go. I can afford to be caught. We're too deep in to risk either of you. Besides, if they are draining the life force of the magics in there, we cannot risk losing Arthur."
Arthur sighed, but didn't argue.
“You could forseeably risk me, though,” Septima said, “I don’t want to let you go, but it seems logical… so if you need anything, just say the word.”
Skye nodded, "I'd let you two go, but like I said, we can't lose Arthur, and with this new life aura threat, that risk has doubled."
"We can't lose you either Skye." Sajd Arthur, clearly not happy with this.
"I'm not the one with a vulnerable life aura.." sajd Skye, "I have a better chance of getting out again if I'm caught. Plus if you get caught you might incapacitate Alex and Blaze too."
“Let’s weigh it out,” Septima said, “What differences will we see between just a plain old elemental and a half-wolf under aura drain? Aurelius turned out weakened but eventually okay, so logic says I probably would too. Maybe it is safer if I go.”
"He's a theif, and I'm a trained assassin. Both experts in stealth." Sajd Arthur, it'll be easier for us to get in and out without getting caught.
"But Arthur is extremely vulnerable to Aura drain, so that leaves me." Said Skye.
“And that negates all of the training I’ve done, including with illusion magic, huh?” Septima murmured.
"There's also the benefit that my aura will cushion the blow of a life aura drain." Said Skye, "No offense against you Septima, but we can't risk either of you at the palace if we're going to keep the facade up."
“If you insist,” she sighed, “You could always portray me as a traitor, but… okay, I guess.”
