Silver smiled, "Adorable…" he breathed, fingers wandering into Aurelius' hair.
Arthur sighed, "Step one is I make sure me and Skye aren't too noticeable." he said. "Step two is we get you into the palace as a royal and adviser." he said.
"Arthur will find a spot in town to keep watch, somewhere where I can find him, and he can keep tabs on us." said Skye.
"Hey, why don't we take a walk around camp? I'm feeling a little antsy," Aurelius said, taking a hand and pushing hair behind Silver's ear.
Septima nodded. "Got it. You think I'm at least dressed for the task? I'm not entirely sure…"
(What are they looking to do exactly?)
(Infiltrate the palace, gain trust of nobles, attempting to convince them magic is good, or undermine their forces so they lose the eventual civil war.)
Silver sighed, "If we must…" he said,
Arthur rolled his eyes, "It doesn't matter if you're dressed for the task or not." he said, "I've got you covered." His violet aura came to life. "I just need a piece of jewelry or something that you can always keep on you." he said, taking a small armband that Silver pulled from his pocket.
(Mmm fun. Deception!)
"Okay, I mean as long as I don't seem conspicuous, I don't care," Septima replied, "And… I take it that's for communication or tracking, or something like that?"
"We don't have to… It's just, we've been here all day," Aurelius replied, "I can go by myself if you want to stay here."
"Actually it's so I can set an illusion to hide your magic aura." said Arthur, "And so I can adjust Skye's looks." he said, holding the armband. Focusing his aura for a moment he handed it to Skye, who rolled up a sleeve an slipped it on. A few moments later his hair was a nice beige color, and his skin was a few shades lighter, his eyes were also a dull blue instead of violet.
Silver sighed, "Nah, I'm itching to move too…"
"Aura?" Septima asked, "Wait, can you tell I have magic?"
She reached down her shirt and pulled up a silver necklace.
"Will this do?"
"Is there somewhere else you'd rather go?" Aurelius asked, "You seemed a little reluctant there…"
"I was just very comfortable." said Silver, sitting up on the cot.
Arthur rolled his eyes, "maybe not at first glance, but yes, and there are talismans that can signify the presence of magic." he said, taking the necklace, using a slightly different spell. before handing it back to her. "Normally these charms would be easily detectable too, but they're not because my aura literally defies the laws of nature."
"That's fair," Aurelius laughed, "I was too."
Septima put the necklace back on. She felt a strange pulse of magic surround her, but nothing about her appearance changed; she was entirely like a normal human in the way she looked- perhaps a bit more beautiful than average, but nothing special or strange.
"I definitely see why they'd send someone like you with us, then," Septima said, "You're certainly a master of disguise."
Silver smirked, watching him. "You getting up? Or did you just want me to move?"
Arthur bowed slightly in appreciation. His own mists surrounding him, his hair turning black. Skye paled a little when he saw it, fear flashing through his eyes. Arthur quickly changed it to a sandy brown at that.
Aurelius got to his feet slowly. A few of his joints popped.
"Gods, I'm practically an old man already."
He held a hand out to Silver.
"What was that?" Septima asked, "Is something wrong?"
She looked between Arthur and Skye.
Skye shook his head.. "It's nothing…" he said quietly, giving Arthur an apologetic look.
Arthur watched them, his eyes shadowed and silent.
Silver laughed, "I think you just need some exercise." He said taking Aurelius' hand.
"Okay," Septima replied.
She was unconvinced, but if something serious and potentially dangerous was happening, she trusted them to say something.
"Shall we get going, then?"
"Probably," Aurelius said, "I'm slowly getting back to myself, I think… At least it doesn't hurt to move anymore."
Silver nodded, "Which means you'll get better soon." He said, squeezing the other's hand comfortingly.
Skye nodded, beckoning for Arthur to follow, who obliged silently. His face as cold as stone.
(Oooh, I'm sensing some drama here)
"Yeah," Aurelius agreed, squeezing his hand back.
His grip was still shockingly weak, but he tried to pay it no mind.
Septima watched her two companions closely for any clues on what to do next. Something was definitely wrong; she hadn't heard the two so quiet this whole time.
(On which side? If It's the one Arthur's on it has to do with bow he got his powers, among other things, including the rift between him and Alex. If you want a further explanation I can give, but I'd prefer to see how many other hints I can drop through writing.)
Silver smiked, towing Aurelius out the back entrance of the tent and off into the trees.
Skye kwpt one eye on Arthur, knowing he'd seen the flash of fear. He kicked himself mentally, Idiot…. he thought.
(Yeah, that. I'm just waiting, because I feel like it might become important later. You've been dropping hints.)
Aurelius smiled. His blue eyes were almost white in the sunshine. He stumbled a little after Silver at first, until he was able to keep pace.
"Well, we're here. Um… are you two ready?" Septima turned her head.
(Ha ha… It's just really fun to play with and practice hinting at for later writing cause he is traumatized for life)
Skye nodded, "I'm playing Royal." He said quietly. "Nothing personal but I have experience since the prince part isn't actually a lie." He exllained as they walked up to the palace, having passed the city gates ages ago.
Arthur had also disappeared. Slipping off into the alleys of the city. Soon he found himself huddled on a rooftop, quiet as he tried to force the memories away.
Silver smiled as he led thwm further into the woods.
"You seem to fit the part better than I do," Septima agreed, "I think advisor would suit me just fine."
She looked around, scanning the area for their other companion.
"Where's… Arthur?"
"Let's not go too far!" Aurelius said.
He still had a smile on his face.
Silver laughed, slowing to a walk, not letting go of Aurelius.
"Off hiding in the streets." Said Skye as they approached the palace gates. "Like we planned."
I just hope I didn't trigger a memory attack…
Aurelius placed his other hand on Silver's arm. His mind was absolutely racing. There was no way this guy was real, and that Aurelius was becoming close to him so fast.
"Alright, then. We're ready."
Septima took a hair tie and pulled her hair back into a quick, sleek bun, then she smoothed out the fabric around her collar.
Skye nodded, heading confidently up to the guards, his attitude doing a complete flip as he explained to the head guard that they had been hijacked on the road as they were passing through to an eastern kingdom. They were planning on staying here for the night anyway, so here they were.
Silver smiled at him, his eyes watching the other carefully.
Septima supplemented Skye's story with a few details, but mostly she just smiled and nodded, trying to get the guard to find her amiable.
Aurelius wondered silently if Silver could feel his rapid pulse through his wrist. He was getting a little flustered at Silver's presence.
(Goodnight!)
(G'night!)
Silver grinned, "you ok Aurelius?" He asked gantly stopping and pulling the other close.
The guards let them in. Leading them to the throne room.
Arthur sat shicering on the rooftop. He was curled in the fetal position, whimpering in fear. He desperately tried to drown out the screams and cries of pain that rang in his ears through frightened humming. The humming was dsicordant, faltering, shaky.
“Yeah, why do you ask?” Aurelius questioned.
He was a little surprised at first when Silver pulled him closer, but he gladly cooperated.
Septima shot a glance at Skye and gave a firm nod. We’re in. Good work.
She carefully noted everything around the palace, especially any exits.
