Aurelius day up and took the sandwich, then slowly began eating. Maybe he’d actually manage to finish a full meal this time.
“I wonder how their mission is going?” Aurelius wondered aloud, referring to Septima, Skye, and Arthur.
Silver rolled his eyes, "I would imagine Arthur is driving Skye up a tree by now." he said,
Arthur hummed his discordant tune, walking lazily behind and around Skye. They had set out early that morning, and expected to be there tonight.
Skye covered his ears, "Will you stop that?!" he groaned.
Aurelius laughed. “And I’m sure Septima is trying to keep everyone in line, but she’s angry that she can’t do anything about it.”
“Yeah, man… I can’t carry a tune either, but at least I keep that to myself,” Septima murmured.
"He is carrying a tune though and that's the problem!" said Skye,
"I'm one with chaos ok?" said Arthur, "I can't help it!"
Silver laughed, "Well I wish her luck with Arthur."
“Mhm…” Septima sighed.
She was growing irritable. It wasn’t usually how she was, but this situation was new and definitely a lot more than she was used to.
“Oh, for sure… She’s highly trained and used to be part of the village guard. Being one of few women there, she always had to be perfect pretty much. Sometimes she’d even be blamed for other people’s misbehavior, so she’s kind of the strict sort,” Aurelius explained.
Skye finally couldn't take it. He lashed out with a whip of power, tackling Arthur, knocking him into a tree, whacking him on the back of the head to knock him out. "Stars…. maybe now we'll get some peace…" he said, scooping up the unconscious Arthur and slinging him over his shoulder.
"But can she handle the embodiment of pure chaos?" asked Silver, giggling.
“Beat me to it,” Septima said, “Seems a little severe but… we can’t have him giving away our position.”
“That’s what I’m saying. No, she can’t, and she’s probably gonna be pissed,” Aurelius answered honestly. He was still laughing about it.
"Arthur wouldn't be humming if we were in danger of that." Said Skye, "I knocked him out because it was driving me crazy."
Silver laughed again, "I wonder who will snap first. Her or Skye?"
“Oh, that’s fascinating. So he can be completely serious when necessary?” Septima asked, “I think I can live with that. Maybe.”
“Hm, I think my money’s on Skye. Septima gets angry, but she can contain it just fine,” Aurelius guessed.
"Arthur is terrifying when he's serious…" said Skye, "But right now he's a nuisance."
Silver smiled, "you're probably right… we can ask them when they get back."
"Just a bit," Septima agreed, "I hope you didn't actually do any damage there, though."
She was still a little stiff from how she'd been sleeping and was currently stretching her arms and legs as she walked.
"I just hope they come out alright… They only just got here, and they're already being sent on some pretty dangerous job," Aurelius said.
"Arthur's tougher than he looks" said Skye, "he'll be fine." Especially with me shielding his mind from memories…
"They'll be fine" said Silver reassuringly, "Arthur's a powerful, reliable guy, and Skye is too."
"If you say so," Septima replied, sounding unconvinced. She couldn't be bothered to argue it more, though.
"Can't help but worry about my friend, though," Aurelius admitted, "I don't know what I'd do if something happened to her."
Skye rolled his eyes, carrying Arthur as they kept going.
"They'll be fine. She's got two of the strongest people I know at her side."
"We can't be far at this point," Septima said as she pushed onward, "I take it we'll be able to wake him when he's needed too?"
Aurelius finished his sandwich, then laid back down on the cot. His eyes still felt heavy.
"So, Silver, what'll you be doing today?"
Silver sighed, "Unfortunately there isn't much for me to do in the first place." he said, "I figured I'd hang around here."
Skye nodded, "I'll wake him before we reach the capitol."
"I don't mind that," Aurelius replied, "Even if you're bored, you've at least got me, huh?"
Septima acknowledged Skye with just a quick glance.
"You know, I was kind of hoping I'd get a little time to settle in before I had to do stuff like this, but I guess we can't all get what we want."
Skye rolled his eyes. "Welcome to the life of a rebel!" he said,
Silver smirked, "Well of course, but I can't just go off doing things with you if you don't agree"
"No kidding. I'm glad this one is at least a cause worth sacrificing for," Septima said.
"I suppose, but I'm more than glad to spend time with you," Aurelius replied firmly, "Seriously. I think you're great and I'm starting to freak out because I might be getting too clingy. I'm not, am I?"
Silver blinked, "Of course not!" he said, smiling softly.
"True" said Skye, tromping through the trees.
"Okay, just making sure," Aurelius said softly, "I'll take your word for it."
Septima continued to move ahead of Skye. She kind of liked to give herself the illusion that she was leading the way.
(Hmmm… maybe another little skip ahead unless you had something in mind for the time they're currently in?)
(Not really… Silver will probably end up cuddling with Aurelius again though. Want me to start the next time block?)
(Okay)
Skye set Arthur on his feet. Arthur was a bit groggy from the nap, but he wasn't complaining. looking out of the trees he saw the city walls ahead, the walls of the capital. "Alright bro, we need you to work your magic" he said.
Silver sighed as he pulled Aurelius up against him, his body on the very edge of the cot as his weight was balanced against Aurelius body.
Septima glanced over to both of them.
"So, what is it exactly that we're doing. Let's have at least a little bit of a plan. I can only take so many surprises."
"Soft…" Aurelius breathed as he touched Silver.
He felt a small smile pass over his lips.
