Fae checked the clock. 6:00am. Perfect. Her gift for Cruz’s birthday was ready, and so was the cake.

"Yay. I'm glad you like it. So your Dad said yes?"

He was at his uncle's house. He was flicking lazily through television stations, finding he couldn't sleep for some odd sort of obselete anxiety.

Fae ran downstairs, making sure the cake was intact and ready for Cruz. She was determined to get to the shop before him. Suddenly her eyes widened as she remembered what tomorrow was.

Sabine opened the door to her house. "Mom? We're here." She let Macha in, then closed the door behind them. The walls had already been covered in Sabine's intricate murals. Sabine smiled.

Fae ran out the door, arms Kadence’s with gifts. She pushed away any fear for tomorrow, determined not to let herself ruin Cruz’s special day. Five minutes later, at 7:30, she was at the shop.

"Hey," he yawned back, "I'm not opening the shop today. Cruz is having his birthday party at his house," he explained, "I decided to just take the day off,"

Sabine's mom smiled. "Did you guys eat already???"

“Understandable! Sorry, I just wanted to get here early so I could sneak the cake in. What time is it? The party, I mean.”

“We had pizza at my house, ma’am.”

"Uh, twelve." He replied.

“Thanks sir! Sorry to bother!” Fae turned to leave.

"Bye," he called, before she disappeared out of the door.

"Okay. Good. Sabine I have some case files to look through with your father but there is popcorn and icecream on the counter for both of you and the tv room is already set. Nice to meet you Macha." Then she disappeared into the hall under the stairs.
