Dani turned to Peter and Skylar. "Peter can you get some ice from the kitchen? And Skylar can you open the door to your room?"
"Yes of course!" She said, scurrying off to open the door. 'really?' she sighed, 'things were just getting good! she was about to be alone with Peter, exploring, but then BOOM! something bad happened, again! 'Are things ever calm around here?' She thought. 'Guess not.' She returned back to Dani, an expression of worry on her face.
(Natasha, remember that @TiredOtter is waiting for Dani to reply to Nikki)
(I’ll add to this in a bit, sorry gtg)
( great work everyone!)
"Yeah, yeah, course!" He inhaled, scampering off to the kitchen on his toes. He shirked the corners of walls, keeping his wings from smacking the edges as he hurried along.
(Yeah I remeber @Topaz. I am just waiting until Josh and Dani can talk alone without any distractions.)
(I promise you guys I have a really good reason for that happening I swear please believe me)
Macha drifted in and out of a fragile dream-state, feverish and hot. Each dream began with Ace, with the kiss, but ended in a nightmare so indistinguishable from reality that she found herself almost experiencing a freakish, in-dream deja-vu each time, replaying her boiling fear each time.
The first dream began with Ace pulling her close, with the kiss, with that short lapse of time where nothing else had mattered but the small, purple-gold paradise they'd created for themselves. He had wrapped her up in his arms, sweetly, but at that moment, her powers took hold. Macha had failed to stop them, and the dream had ended with Ace dying, parts of his body missing.
The second dream had begun similarly, except this time it had been Macha kissing Ace, and when the kiss was over, Ace had pulled away with dead, cold eyes, pushing her away. "How could I ever love you?", was how the dream ended, abruptly, sharply, breaking dream-Macha's heart.
By the time the third dream had begun in the same way as the first, she had begun to realize something was off, noticing the eerie way the air slid against her skin the exact same way as before. When the kiss was over again, massive stone walls had erupted around her and Ace, forming a dark labyrinth half-hidden in shadows. Blood-curdlingly familiar sobs echoed through the maze like phantoms, never changing volume. With a shock, dream-Macha had quickly formed a recognition, and had torn herself violently away from dream-Ace, sprinting down the labyrinth and dissipating shadows as she flew past looming walls and sharp corners to get to the source of the sound. Lenn., was all she could think as she got closer and closer, finally stumbling into a wide, circular platform where a boy kneeled down, gripping a knife tightly and crying. "Lenn!", she shouted desperately as she ran over to him and threw her arms around him. Leonnard shoved her off, looking up at her with heartbroken gray eyes, silver tears rolling down his cheeks. "I thought you loved me…", he whispered in a broken voice and raised the knife. "NO!", she had screamed, lunging forward, but it was too late. Lenn plunged the knife deep into his chest, turning his head to look at her one last time before disintegrating into black smoke and drifting away on a cold and unforgiving wind.
The dream ended, replaced by the strange vision of two figures dancing in the middle of a vast desert, the pitch black night swirling ominously around them as they chanted in a foreign language which dream-Macha somehow knew to be Ndebele, an African language. As she cautiously approached, she could make out the gorgeous, flowing robes the were wearing, illuminated by the light of a single torch embedded in the sandy ground. Macha got closer, and with a sickening jolt, placed them as Jason and Rhea, twins, dancing and singing a death song in their native language, dark skin standing out against the pale dunes in the light of the torch and the galaxies twinkling darkly above. She opened her mouth to call out in joy, but all of a sudden, the ground began to spin at a dizzying speed, pulling the sky along with it and beginning to disintegrate into a gaping black void that yawned greedily, evilly as Macha slid rapidly towards it, unable to scream. The last thing she saw before slipping back into undisturbed sleep was a glowing pegasus soaring high above it all.
(thanks for waiting for so long, it's been a really busy day)
"I'll do everything I can to help." Ace promised, staring at Macha, his eyes diminishing to a dull violet. He encased her hand in his and prayed that things would get better. Ace would've switched places in a heartbeat.
As they settled Macha onto her bed, Dani slid her hand gently on Macha's forehead, then quickly retracted it. "She's burning up! Peter did you find that ice yet??"
"Yes!" He ran back, extending a cupfull of ice for Dani to take. He hovered by for a moment, before resting a hand on his friend Ace's back to try and quietly console him.
(EDIT: BAM!! This is long, apologies. I couldn't find any better way to do this other than time skips, and I don' like time skips. >~<)
Joshua ran down the corridors, glancing back every so often to make sure that Ana was right there with him. He took extra precautions to match his speed to hers, so that he wasn't pulling her along. On approaching the elevators, Joshua called out to a young teen who had just stepped off the elevator and was returning to her room.
"Hazel! Hold the elevator!"
Hazel, who had just stepped off the elevator, turned quickly and held open the elevator doors for them. "What's the emergency!?"
As they reached the elevator, Joshua gently ushered Ana inside before stepping in himself. As the doors began to close, he said in a rush, "We're going to get Dr. Branch. Someone's hurt." Hazel nodded, wishing them luck as the elevator doors slid to a close. Pressing the 9th floor, Joshua stepped back from the button panel, tilting his head back against the elevator wall to catch his breath. His nervous hands twitched, the one holding Ana's hand squeezed tighter for a split second. He didn't have time to address the fact that he was still holding on to her hand–although it was still more for emotional support than convenience.
The doors slid open and the two dashed out of the elevator. "This way," Josh would call out to Ana at intervals, making sure he was right along with him as they rounded corners and dashed down hallways. Before long, they had made it to the Hospital of The Citadel. "Get me Dr. Branch. It's an emergency," Joshua instructed to a lady at the front desk, who immediately turned to call it in. A few seconds later, and tall lady with glasses stepped around the corner.
"Mrs. Grace, please. We need your help. Macha–er–someone's in trouble. She's hurt, and I don't think she's conscious. I didn't know what's wrong so I came to get you." Josh managed to explain, his voice weak from running.
Dr. Branch nodded. "I see. Where is this girl?"
"Fourth Floor, Unit 45." (A/N: These are just placeholders for now, I've forgotten Dani's agent name, as well as if @Natasha specified what floor or room her apartment was.)
"Okay, I'll go right away. You guys can follow behind when you can. You two look like you could use a rest." Dr. Branch turned and rushed to the elevator, going up to the apartments. (A/N: Dr. Branch is a magical healer, and basically a plot device at this point. Anyone can feel free to write her.) Joshua and Ana both sank into plush couches in the waiting room.
(This is going to be it for now unless I come back in a while. Thank you for waiting. This took forever–jk, just a lot of procrastination, oops–to complete so apologies. But in other news, Josh and Ana are now brought up to current time, and Dr. Branch is free to be used by anyone who wants to write her! [I'm looking mostly at @Topaz 'cause she knows what's going on with her character more than any of us do.] Alright, with that Imma go eat now. Be back later! ^^)
"Thanks Peter." Dani took the ice gratefully. She extended her hand, drawing moister from the air into her palm, creating a sphere of water. She placed the ice into the water and put it against Macha's forehead like you would a washcloth. "She turned to Ace. "She'll be fine. If you can't get some rest then go sit on the couch. Peter and Skylar, why don't you too walk around the halls in ront of the apartment until Josh and Ana come back."
Peter placed a hand on Ace's back and Ace looked at him, grateful, that someone was there. "What are you doing up so late, Peter?" Ace said, shifting his position, but still noticeably holding Macha's hand.
(Dani's agent name is Agent Shield, which I will explain later. And I did not specify any floors so go ahead and make those up.)
She was dragged along from hallway to hallway. Desperate to keep up. Even if her lungs were screaming at her to stop. She was pretty out of shape to be honest here. Ana was breathing heavily onced they stipped. Her head spinning slightly, the words of a conversation a blur. All she could register was a faint pressure on her hand. She had no time to think about it as they were off again. The only repreive the cushions. “Man…I’m really bad at running.” What wasn’t she bad at?
Skylar turned to Peter, grateful that Dani was going to let them go outside and walk. "so…" She said, trailing off.
"Well, let's go," Peter softly urged, offering his hand to wrap around hers.
Skylar gladly took his extended hand, and together they started walking down the hall. "So, tell me about yourself. I haven't actually gotten to talk to you. What do you like, what do you dislike?" She asked, making light conversation. But it was true, they hadn't had a chance to talk. She really did want to learn more about him.
He drew a calm breath, "Well… I like… the sun. Mornings, especially. In the Caribbean, when my brothers and I would trek off into the center of the island where no tourists lived, we'd make our own shelter since we were too poor for tents.." he laughed softly, "I love the sacred silence of nighttime.. I love stars, and I never see enough," he replied, "I hate light pollution. I want to see the sky without an ugly coat of orangeish city light.." He smiled smalley, eyes flickering down.
"I, um, let's see…" he inhaled to catch his train of thought, "I love tea…not coffee. I love the ocean with my soul," he grinned like a child on christmas morning, "You know…"
"Know what ?" she smiled, glancing up at Peter's glowing face.
"I still have so much to see.. outside of the concrete jungles…" his gently enthusiastic expressionswelled with anticipatory warmth, "Right now the rest of the world feels like a distant dream. Redwood trees as tall as the eiffel tower, the milky way, even— even snow," he laughed, "I've never even seen snow until my family came here!"
"What?? You've never seen snow? Well, I've never seen the stars on a clear night. I've always lived in New York. Never been outside the city, so I guess we're even." She teased, laughing a bit.
"Let's go there someday," Peter fantasized, "Somewhere we can see the stars,"
"Definitely." Skylar agreed, closing her eyes and trying to imagine it. "I've always wanted to go to Paris," she sighed, imagining going to Paris, the city of love, with the guy walking next to her. She could imagine it, and she hoped that one day it would really happen. But then she snapped back to reality. "So," She continued, "What about your family? You never really talk about them. What where they like?"
