"Unless he did something stupid again."
"Unless he did something stupid again."
(It was, until he inverted my screen…)
"Nah, even he wouldn't do something stupid when he was that hurt, right?" Zander asked.
"I would. And Ace is worse at controlling impulse than I am."
"But-" Zander started to raise an objection, but then realized she was right." Yeah, no you got me there."
Dani bit her lip, trying not to laugh.
Zander sighed." Let's just hope he's not in two pieces then."
Frankie heard footsteps down the hall and thanked god for the distraction. She walked casually over to them. "Zander and Dani right? Ace is that way." She pointed down the hall. "He's not doing too well."
Dani rolled her eyes. "Of course not. Thanks Frankie. Come on Josh and Zander."
Frankie was so focused on Zander and Dani that she hadn't noticed the boy behind them. "Hi. I'm Frankie." She said waving with as much energy as she had in her. Which wasn't much.
"And here I was hoping we were wrong." Zander said as Josh talked Frankie.
"Ace is being kind of reckless. Although from what I've heard, that's normal."
"But I could propose if you want me to?" Ace blew a strand of hair out of his face.
“I— um— maybe hold off in that for— for a bit. Not that I don’t want you to. I think you should meet my dad first.”
"Would he like me? My grandma would've liked you."
(Hiiiiiiiiiii)
Frankie sighed. "Anyway. I'm heading home. I'll see you guys later." She gave Dani her phone number. "Just in case." and walked out.
Dani nodded. "Thanks."
"No problem. Good luck, everyone." And with that she was gone. She drove herself home, gave a half-hearted wave to her mom and sat down on the couch, patting her thighs for Laney to join her.
Dani walked into Ace's hospital room. "Sorry to interrupt you two." Dani said. "But Josh is here and is really worried."
“Of course he’d like you.”,a cha told Ace warmly just as Dani walked in. “Dani? And Josh! Hey. Ace um, Ace got stabbed again.”
"Of course he did." Dani said, rolling her eyes as she leaned on the door frame. "Zander punched a guy for me. You should have seen it. Priceless."
“Awww.”, she smirked. “We missed you, Josh.”
Zander smiled." It wasn't like he didn't have it coming."
"Well," Dani said, turning to face Zander, "You didn't have to do that. He's been treating me like that for almost seven years."
