Blake sighed peacefully, breathing in deeply with half lidded eyes. He was rubbing circles on the palm of Frankie's hand. She was gently combing her hands through his messy hair. Blood encrusted a few strands of it. He hummed peacefully. A soft song with no words. A melody he only vaguely remembered. A repressed memory only awakened when Blake, himself, was asleep. For the first time in weeks he felt totally relaxed, staring into her deep grass green eyes. Even the dull aching of his wings wasn't bothering him at the moment. In the raging sea of his life, the waves had quelled, even if only for a few perfect moments of bliss.

Frankie was tired. But she didn't want to lose Blake if she fell asleep. She kept her eyes locked on his peaceful breathes, praying this wasn't the last time she would see him. She had no one else to fall back on and worried the other's would blame her for his death. She shook her head. "He's not dead. He's not going to die." she thought to herself, trying to stop the tears and enjoy this moment.

"Hey, why're you crying?" Blake reached up, gently wiping the tears off her cheeks with his thumb. "I'll be alright. I promise." He smiled softly, lacing his fingers with hers. "I'm too stubborn to die."
